I wouldn't be surprised if it does go gold. It's the most-wanted game in the racing genre. Although it may not be huge to some people, what they don't realize is that it's the top of its line with those others.

IMO, too many people overlook racing. It's more than just going around in circles. :)
I wouldn't be surpried if it goes gold, either, considering every game goes Gold. (escept Enter the Matrix, I don't think it got out of debugging :sly: )

Going gold means that the game is completely finished and it is sent the factory to stamp the DVDs. All games go gold before they are released. Half-Life 2 just went Gold, and a single copy hasn't been sold. It is just an industry term.

Damn. I'm recording the ALCS game in high-definition w/ DD5.1 and there is a very big storm in our area today. The storm has caused the digital tuner to not pick up the frequency, so I don't have the commercial. Damn. But, there is a break in the storm, and now I have the recorder on. I hope the commercial airs at least once more.

That's the problem with DTV. Storms and clouds tend to block the signal from getting to your HDTV set. Plus, Fox seems to have a lot of problems with their HD broadcast.

I just saw the commercial, it was the Subaru Impreza WRC car covered in mud and doing a leap in the air, followed by the GT4 logo. Lasted a whole 15 seconds.

SAW IT!!!

15 second spot... slow, dramatic music while a real WRC Impreza covered in mud jumped over a hill. GT4 logo, with "Fasten your seatbelts" below it.

AWESOME!! :)

Check out this synopsis by Snake Plissken (another long-time member of the GT community):

It was a short spot, it basically featured a white car and what looked like a pylon course. The car appeared to be a classic model, possibly 2000gt, but it was hard to tell, since it was only from mid-door panel down. The car appears to have lost control and is whipping around in 360's ala The Fast and the Furious. I'm not too sure either, because my signal is kinda fuzzy, but it looked like it had some racing decals... very understated, though.

He was watching Fox.

There are multiple spots running.

Impreza WRC: Most widely seen
Lancer: Mark-O
2000GT (?): Snake Plissken
Camaro: 5 Watt

So now that it's been confirmed by so many of us (myself included), what does it mean? Why is Sony airing ads for the game so far out from it's release?

I just checked my HD recorder, and just saw the same commercial. Sorry, I don't have a way to put it into my computer, unless you know of a way to. The Impreza caked in mud was moving in slow motion. As soon as it hit the ground, the screen went black, and then soon ended. OK, I just timed the commercial. It was 15 seconds long.

Do you have a digital camera that can take short videos?

Do you even have a digital camera that takes stills? You could take a pic of every frame and make a big animated gif!

Nope. I have a video camera, but it only has analog outs.

MY HDTV set is an older Sony model with a i-Link input. My computer has a 1394 input on the front. But, no cable. Nor do I think it would work, because the HDTV set i-Link input is input only. Double farts. It's times like this I wish I was into computers more.

yea I saw it while boston made history by beeing the 1st team in MLB history to force a game 7 loosing 0-3 go soxs

You know, I've been doing some thinking, and I apologize for my last views on this topic. I thought this "GT4 commercial" deal was a joke. Maybe I was thinking too much about that other PS2 commercial. When I thought I was going to see it tonight, it was a commercial for "Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War." Maybe when I come home from college later tonight (saying that is's as of 2:23 AM on 10/20/2004), I'll probably watch the Astros/Cardinals game (go Astros! Win one for Houston!) and check out the commercials. If I see it, I'll quickly come on to GTPlanet and offer my commentary.

Taimar from GranTurismoX.net explains his sighting and clarifies Plissken's:

I only saw one spot during the ALCS. I was playing with my Guinea Pigs during the game and wasn't paying that much attention.

However what I did see made me happy.

The spot with the classic car features an Iso Grifo.

Quite possibly this exact Iso Grifo, as there are very few racers who run these cars and the car in the spot was clearly race-prepped:

It belongs to Australian vintage racer Steve Schuler.

Not only has Taimar been a strong voice in the GT community for years, but his automotive knowledge is second to none. Chances are that he's the factual authority on any car you might choose to ask him about. ;)

 Wow the Grifo.

I really hope that it's in the game, because it is by far the most beautiful Italian car ever (if not from the entire world). And that means better looking than all Ferraris.

And it can even outperform a lot of modern cars aswell.

or

Just thought I'd add to the hype. I saw the WRX Rally commercial. Very cool. Especially since it was in slow-mo. And I just contacted my local store and they expect in Dec. 6!

I don't think it could be an Iso, because they haven't been revealed yet. I bet it was the 74 Jensen Interceptor Mk. III that can be found on The359's car list. Here is a link to car below...

Jensen MK III Interceptors

I just noticed that theres 2 of them, one with the wrx and the other of just the tires doing a 180

I seen the commercial an i will explain it. i saw it during a quick commercial break of the red sox game, and the commercial started as a 67'corvette or a 70' 240z, but you couldnt see the whole thing, then it spins out of control taking a turn , afterward all you see is smoke and some tire pieces on the track, then the gt4 logo comes up and the rated pending with the guy saying coming soon.

it was'nt a animated commercial it was a real racing clip, but it was so short and in slow mo, maybe took like about 20 seconds or less.

so if youre wachting the playoffs and see a car in slow mo you may want to not change the channel, cause who would think of the gt4 commercial. :sly:

Maybe there are more than one version of commercials to confuse you, get your tapes ready just in case you see it press record!!! :dopey:

I recorded the commercial and it's not either of those two cars, I thought it was Stingray, but for some reason, the pictures I'm looking at don't match it. I'll figure it out soon enough.
