GT4 vs Forza [Let the battle begin]

I wonder how the final build of gt4 will compare to the final build of GTR. It seems PD has made the viewing field move with the car, GTR does that. OPMUK did say gt4 has gone the way of the pc sims in their preview of the latest gt4 demo.

I believe the view in GTR also moves with the head of the driver...
And eh, about OPM, I would like to hear from more sources (and more reliable) that GT4 has gone hardcore.
 
But framerate is more important. Gt4 might have low-res textures but gt4 also does global illumination which makes the game look so damn realistic and the colors are great. Good realistic colors. All of that is made up for, with photorealistic visuals so it's all good.

Notice I said OPM "UK" Not the stupid american one :lol: no offense yankies. I believe they are reliable. I didn't praise gt3 or gt concept like I expected them to do, instead, they did the opposite.
 
OPM in the UK are generally reliable, thats not to say they don't make mistakes, or never over-hype. I to would like to hear from more sources about GT4 now being a harcore sim, but I think it only becomes a true harcore sim when used with a wheel since a pad wouldn't give full control. I would like this cleared up though, I'm getting the DFP no matter what when I buy GT4 either way. OPM did praise GT3, but not GTC or GT4:P.
 
Look the article again. They changed the information about 20fps, now it´s 30fps.
Did you really believe the 20fps?????

I didnt know PC Games would support DFP, or is it that, it would support DFP but not the 900 degree (and etc) features of DFP (then whats the point?)..
 
I have been laughing so hard at this thread, man it's crazy what some people say and will do. First of all photorealism is about the look of something like it was taken by an actual camera, a parked car does not use reverse lights, a new track does not have skidmarks and so on, so the photorealism thing was a shot in the foot for you Front. I think you were leaning more toward "Real World Effects" cause everything you listed does happen in the real world after all. The Forza vs GT and GT vs GTR and GTR vs God debate is getting tiresome now, GTR will destroy everything in terms of real world racing but then that isn't for everyone, plus on a PC is where it will shine and it will be interesting to see what the GTR devs pull out on the XBox.

It's a fun time for all racing fans, correction... sim racing fans, and I can't wait!!

Also a note, GT's replays were referred to as almost like TV quality now you'd laugh at that, it's just technology, when it's new and shiny it's great, when it's coming up to be replaced by a successor you start to compare and wonder what it was all about. We'll say wow at the 3rd gen but then when number 4 comes along it'll be back to business again.

Also IMO graphics don't make a game, playability and longetivity do.

It looks like they improved the Forza graphics to look more real.

So Forza has made some ground on GT4's graphics.

It has gone from GT4>>>>>Forza to GT4>>>Forza

And from some new pics I've seen of GT4 dont be surprised if GT4 pulls back out again. Both games can enhance their graphics before release.
 
Yea, GTR will have loads of cars on tracks but that still doesn't mean it will be the better game when compared to gt4 and forza. What about physics, which will be more realistic? Just have to wait and find out I guess but many are saying gt4 will be the game to beat.
 
Bear in mind most of the GT4 pics are from the photomode, however the ingame graphis whilst not as good technically as Forza do have that more real look to them, the car models in Forza are second to none just like in GT though.

GTR WILL be more realistic, on the PC it will be anyway, the ammount they've put into it to get the cars to drive right i just insane, but in GTR theres only sportscar racing, so the engine doesn't have to deal with off road racing as well ect. GT4 IMO will be the better overall game, but GTR will be very good in any event.
 
Well live, how much do you know pd has put in the cars to drive right? I believe gt4 is gonna bring the noise more than gtr and forza. And when I say noise, I mean be the racer to beat in driving. The ps2 has ass hardware but it does have a good cpu which is good for physics and all that junk.

GTR is THE driving sim of the year, no questions it's spot on, theres no way the PS2 can get better than spot on, especially when GTR on the PC gets help from much more powerful CPU's and much more memory. Theres no point even trying to argue that GT4 will be as close to real as GTR in the handling, theres no way it will, sure it might get close, hence the GT4 has gone hardcore, if it has then great but theres no way GT4 will beat it for realism.
 
well, with the recent interview about forza revealing that it will only run at 20 frames per second :dunce: has definately given GT4 an advantage. Racing games especially need to have high FPS's :scared:
 
Forza wil run higher than 20fps, that was a typo which if you check back will see as been fixed. GT4 still has the advantage over Forza in the fps but Forza has advantages of it's oen.

Fair enough. Too bad gtr is limited in races. There should be more car types.
 
The hardware is old, so is the cpu, it does it's job well enough for me to still buy games for the PS2 so it's not a bad machine, it's not a poor performer despite it's age, the X-Box is only a little bit better hardware wise and the Game cube isn't worth reading about, both are newer by over a year.

Were not talking about graphics here, no they arn't THE most important thing but they are bloody important nowadays.
 
No, they arn't. Playability is, if neither games fun then good graphics are pointless, since both claim to be sims, the second most important thing would be to make them sims while keeping that playability and then the graphics would come in. If as an example, Forza ends up looking miles better, but it handles like Ridge race, and GT4 ended up handling like GT3, GT4 would be the better game by far, even though Forza looked so much better (thats just an example ny the way, not my opinion).

GTR may be good, but it wont sell. Thats not a problem but, no one will really notice it.
