Yep, some people don't realise 90% of GT4 players will still be using the pad.

But even through a pad, realistic handling and physics show up

I think this was on page 152 of this thread but...

Good handling may show up, but realistic?? As realistic means "as in real life" and since nobody drives a car with a pad, how can you say it is realistic, when it doesn't happen.

90% of PS2 owners may be using a pad, but of GT players, that figure looks very wrong. Have a look at the db.de database, it would now seem that 80% of GT4P users are using a wheel.

The percentage of people who bought GT4p compared to the entire GT fanbase is also small. Only the hardcore shell out full price for a demo right?

Lucky them, I can't even BUY a DFP yet.

i dont understand how they could leave out FFB support on an Xbox... it seems retarded... Maybe they are holding back information to 3rd party developers, or they are gonna release a addon to get more money or something so that Xbox supports FFB.

You can't base these figures on entries into a database, not many GT3 players ever submitted times to databases, there are millions of GT3 players. I stand to the fact that 90% and thats probably too low a percentage, will be using a pad and not a wheel.

Why not, it is a representative sample. There is a GT3 section there as well..full of wheel users. GT3 was sold as a special box set that included a wheel.

I stand by the fact your figure is more likely to be true of PS2 owners not GT owners. We could do a poll here :) I think the result woulld be more like 50/50, but would you disregard it because not every one voted.

You say its not important to a racing game whether it is pad or wheel, I say its crucial! Whilst there are many of you who are happy to drive with a pad, I feel there will be alot of Forza owners who after waiting all this time for a quality racing game are going to be miffed at MS's f up with the FF. I have tried non FF wheels and some are worse than using a pad.

Because as I said, the vast majority of players don't ever submit their times, and I would disregard a poll here since most people here are GT fanatics. There arn't that many wheels around compared to copies of GT. The fact that most only use a pad and never pay for a wheel is one of the reasons Microsoft haven't bothered with a ff wheel yet. Were not talking small groups of fanatics here were including EVERYONE who will own GT4, thats a far far higher number than thoes who will own GT4 and a wheel.

But we are the ones that mattter :)

Oh well, I'll still think it is a mistake by MS not to develop FF or whatever the problem is. I've heard that the x-box needs a firmware upgrade that can be downloaded, so it might no be such a major deal.

btw DFPro is awsome :)

I agree with you there, the X-Box could do with an FF wheel, I've heard the same that an extra program can make it possible but even then only a Logitech wheel will ever come close to the DFP.

I agree, i havent played a racing game that felt as real as LFS. Man... Racing hard is really fun. The way you can feel the weight shifting in the car and everything is amazing. Its probably the most rewarding game to drift in. I hope gt4 is even more rewarding... I wanna feel proud of myself for taking the perfect line and speed through a corner like i do in LFS, or pulling off a "perfect" drift.

Jeez... forza isnt gonna be out till winter 2005??!?!?!

I thought it was coming out this winter cause everybody kept comparing it to GT4. I never bother looking at 2005 :dunce: By then they could suck out the best GT4 has to offer and should be able to make a better game.

I used to think there was not much difference between a pad and wheel until I tried the wheel, the wheel gives GT a whole new experience! try it!

The wheel is very rewarding. It immerses you in the game in ways the pad could never do. I have to admit though, it took me about a day to get used to it. I was so programed to use the Dpad that I would get frustrated using the wheel (I never used a wheel b4).

have anyone of you tried to drive a car at the track?

me and a few friends of mine went to the Nordschleife a couple of weeks ago in our nissan 200sx`s(we even race "our" cars with the same settings on GT4). and we were suprised to how close the feeling was when driving it in GT4:P and in real life. offcourse, it`s a toally different feeling actually driving the circuit but too feel the how the car handles and everything else was just insane. and if the rumours are right GT4 will be much better then GT4:P.

and i have been driving some at the tracks for 2 years now, about 5-10 trackdays each year. and everytime with instructor. and i`ve never tipped my car. i`ve spun out, driven into the sand-trap and so on dozens of times. and it`s very rare i see a car tip around. even in racing.

my tip: forza will probably be VERY good. but it won`t be better then GT4 because they lack the experience. how many of the microsoft guys have ever driven a car at a track? not many i think. and how many of the people in PD has drive a car at the track?

think about it. wouldn`t PD know how a car should act if they`ve tested it many times on a track and THEN applied the code and played the game? my guess is that they do know....

i think forza will be a good game. but it won`t be able to compete with GT4. nut until PS3, xbox 2 and GT5/6 and forza 2/3 comes out.

I know this is off topic, but does GTR support a 900 degree wheel? Everyone boasts how real it is...yet if it doesn't support a full 2.5 turn wheel, then how can it be "real"...? we wouldn't know if the handling is crappy or not, because we never experience the full turn...anyone?

Many race cars have a lot less lock than road cars. FIA GT cars seem to me to be cars that might be like that. However, I can't be sure.

Hey, just check this new batch of pictures from Forza:
Forza Motorsport new screenshots at IGN

Those graphics seem improved...
I have to say 2 things.

1. I never want to hear another Xbox fanboy say anything about the 2d crowds in GT4. They are flat in Froza too.

2. I'm still not impressed with visuals, that vette looks so out of place in that pic. GT4 the cars coenside with their backgrounds and blend in well.

The Guldstrand and the new Mine's Skyline are in? Holy cow, that's awesome. I love that Vette, and have never even seen another game with it or that Mine's Skyline. PD, better have some surprises up your sleve.

It is also a wonder to see how long this thread has been alive.
Forza does look like it needs to change some things. 👎

Most of them actually, some of the members are in proper races etc.

It's an xbox you tool, not some 5 ghz super computer, it's hardly gonna render a stand FULL of spectators in full 3d :P
The visuals look fine, stop being a graphics whore.

Yes GTR supports the Logitech Driving Force Pro but GTR car's have around 630 degrees lock to lock and this can be configured by DXTweak2 :)

yup, not all the cars in GTR even turn that much. One of em turns about 200 degrees. the lister storm i think does.

And there all the more accurate for it, if the cars in GTR needed you to turn the wheel 900 degrees lock to lock it would be unrealistic. Thats only realy seen on road cars, most race cars have much less lock, they have much smaller steering wheels too.
