More is most of the time better, but it really comes down to the physics. You can have 800,000 cars in forza and it wouldn't matter if the physics sucked. More is as good as the game around it.

There are also other questions:
How good is the physics and AI ?
How much can the cars be customized and tuned ?
How accurate is the sound, for example engine sound (pretty important in a sim) ?
Are the features well implemented ?

What makes a good game is very hard to define. If it makes you buy it, then that is a sign. But going on sales (its an objective approach) the biggest selling game on PC is The Sims 2. Now I think that game sux, but I will admit that if there are millions who are willing to part with good hard cash, then it must be quite good. So just because some of you don't like a particular game, that doesn't mean it is bad.

GT champ, your logic is flawwed, you obviously know close to nothing about either games.
GT4 obviously has more cars, but the customisation (where bad mods slow cars down, engine changin/ tuning), the online play, the damage, more cars on track, the AI, the sound, the more in depth sim elements (tyres heating up etc) and ofc the cars (f40s etc) interest me. Which is better, dunno, if Forza turns out to be crap, meh, I'll just play Gt4, but on the other hand, if it's ace (and it's certainly looks VERY good), WEEEE I'll play both.

I don’t mind if this thread goes on, after all it’s just one red envelope to skip over. I do however find it difficult to fathom how it continues on despite the fact that everything has been covered hundreds of replies ago.

Lol @ i don't know nothing about both games.I happen to know every bit of info that has been released about both games.What you propose is not that relevant to the causal gamer who plays GT4 or Forza.They only care for the amount of cars and tracks and how good it looks.And in those three departments GT4 beats Forza.It's true that Forza has a more in-depth tuning system,no argument there but how many people care about stuff like oil pressure and tire wear?Another thing is that the cars in Forza are made out of almost double the amount of polygons then the cars in GT4 but that doens't mean that they look better.In fact they look worse then the cars in GT4.
Now,i played the BMW demo,and the physics compared to Prologue have improved by a lot.This is the result of experimenting and only after four GT games they managed to get this result.What makes you think that the folks at Microsoft Game Studios can get the same result the first time.Therefor i doubt that Forza will have better physics.Now we come to the Online department.Granted it is a big minus for GT4 here.The Online mode was the biggest improvement that this game would have had but it's not going to happen.However Forza seems to have an excellent Online mode(based on available info).That's about all i can say about it seeing as very little is known about it.

Okay, I've been wondering a bit about this Online Stuff (coz I havent played Racing Games online besides NFS PU, HP2 & UG on PC.
I didnt know where to ask this question, so I am dropin' it here, coz I want to know about both these games. Online and LAN (both). How would it work, I mean would it be like Arcade thing, Pic a Track / Pic your Cars , Race.. and over. Or will the entire series be included in it? Like for egs Point System etc? Coz NFS series or even F1 2000/1/2 by EA didnt have a very interesting online mode. It was kinda sad after a while. It'll be nice to have online / lan series challenges etc. Does Forza and GT4 offer something like this? Or is it just, Choose the Track, Choose the Car and Race...?

Somehow I just can't draw myself away from codes....nevermind.

You say that GTChamp knows nothing about either game...okay lets see

1) You have no idea how the AI will be, period...
2) You have no idea how the tuning will be, and from what we've seen it's very straight forward, you are just giving credit to back up this game based on your weak word.
3) You talk about the sim elements, yet you have not played it, all microsoft has to do is add them and say they are there, they do not have to be accurate, until you've experienced it, you can NOT say that it's "more in depth".
4) Forza will have nothing on GT4 tuning wise, it will be on par with GT3
at most, but I highly doubt it will be equal to GT4.

Also, the engine swaps idea will be cool, but they won't get it right. I know they are going to have a lot of the characteristics left out and it's just going to be a way to plug and play, but things like H22 civic swaps will still let you turn in full circles, I already can feel it...don't give this game more credit than it has earned, because all you've read it what's been SAID and all you've said is...well to reiterrate what's been said...but no preview has said barely anything about any of these features...sooo...?

But this is based on purely personal taste, but frankly people saying quantity over quality are idiots full stop.

People who want to badmouth either game take it somewhere else, I've gave up on this thread recently because it seem's plauged with fanboy's who do nothing but complain.

In all honesty Forza Motorsport is bringing more to the table than GT4, Forza will have more ground breaking content, I could care less if they don't implement it 100% full realism at least there trying and PD are still fumbling around with the same core problem's people have complained about since Gran Turismo.

I do think Forza is a true contender for Gran Turismo series both on realism terms and gameplay, neither game will be totally realistic and if your looking for 100% simulation look elsewhere or drive on your local track, but don't complain about somthing that is in no way even comparable to driving a real car.

And people who are talking GT4's graphics up please stop. Forza's video's of a demo are looking amazing you only have to glace around the screen to see the ammount of work that went into the scenery and vehicles and when you see it running the only thing GT4 can throw at is some pretty Photomode shot's..

If you don't wanna know about Forza or if you think Forza is NOT a contender for GT4 then please don't visit this thread you're only aggrovating everyone on this thread and people are getting annoyed.
