rico, saying stuff like that doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look like a total idiot, just thought I'd say.

Both GT4 and Forza will be great games but in my _personal opinion_ GT4 will be the better game. I doubt the ability of the Forza team to get the physics model to be as well balanced as the GT4 model will be as the team fro Forza seems to be a combination of people who worked on games such as NFS that lean too heavily towards arcade physics. I can easily see them either overcompensating with realism and getting a game that like Grand Prix Legends or Papyrus' Nascar games and be too realistic to be fun. They may also go the other way and get too arcadey like NFS and lose the sim aspect.

I personally don't care if Forza has slightly better graphics (due to the extra power of the Xbox) as for me the gameplay of GT4 will outweigh this. I believe that the engine change, although it sounds like a cool idea will either be far too leniant ie. Corvette engine in a MX-5 or not allow much at all. The engine change element will also mean that the individual engine feel of a car may be sacrificed because there will be a "best" engine that gets the most power in any car you put it in. GT4 would be particularly better if they took out the Escudo and the F1 cars to revive the question of which car is the best in the game such as in GT1.

In conclusion, GT4 will be for genuine racing game fans and while Forza will be a genuinely good game it will not establish the kind of cult following (ie gtplanet members) that the GT series has except among ricers.
 
Well put, but it's all based on GUESS WORK. You, like everyone else has no idea what's in forza, how it well be done, or how it plays. Everything you said is speculation, yet you base your opinions on games on it :P. I bit stupid if you ask me.

BTW forza is not are arcade game, I wish people would drill that into their skulls, the devs have SAID it's a sim style game like GT. Stop it with the arcadey crap allready, it's like me calling GT4 an arcade game just because it's not as realsitic as GPL :P

You have to remember some people like to rice cars, and the fact it's there is a bonus imo. I don't like it myself, but I will have some fun messing about with car parts etc just for the sake of it. Hell, I might even be able to rice up a ferrari ;)

Pak, you're not trying hard enough! Try putting road tyres on, not super sticky arcade tyres.

Or even better, try the M5 @Fuji with road tyres...it will take you a while just to get it to go round the track :lol: never mind quickly.

And before you say you haven't got the M5, I thought you were implying it was too easy :p

Edit: Also when using the DS2 there are assists on that you can't turn off, it won't let you steer wildly down a straight at speed (that would be crazy). If you can't wait for the M5 try the SL55 with road tyres as well

I use the Driving Force wheel and tried the SL55 with road tyres, Viper with road tyres and tried some JGTC cars. IT'S NOT REALISTIC.

Many people like that kind of realism, it's too realistic to be fun for YOU. But PD could make some extra option for the people who like games like GPL.
 
It seems that rather than being objective, some people just don't want Forza to be better than GT4 and thats just :crazy:

If it was an art competition then Forza would win hands down, to delude yourself and pretend that the graphics aren't superior is quite sad. The style of graphics is a matter of personal preference. The only thing I'd complain about is that the Forza cars seem to float on the track, and that would take a developer about two seconds to fix. x-y-z coordinates knock them down two pixels...done.

Even if Forza is better than GT in every way, it will not take anything away from GT4. It will still be awsome! Its not as if there is a finite amount of "Game Goodness" and one game can come along and suck it all up leaving none for the others. :lol:

So to some members (you know who u are ;) stop fixating over the graphics looking cartoony or whatever, clean your monitor, and don't be scared of competition. Its what pushes developers to improve things :)

You must be one hell of a skilled driver Pak, Keeping the SL55 on the track with road tyres aint easy. I can do a 1:40.555 @Fuji with the Nismo Z-tune on street tyres and I thought that was tough! Blow me away with your lap time :)

EXACTLY! Both games will hopfully be fantastic in their own rights, some people just don't like the idea of a rival that might (note might) be better on a machine thats not a PS2.

It's possible to switch on different assists in Forza to make the car easier to drive
+ you can choose no damage, limited damage or
fully simulated damage (probably not visually) according to the developers

No I use the old driving force, I know it still uses aids (the steering gets corrected).
But when smashing the gas in the middle of a hairpin you should spin out almost instantly even with those aids. Although I would like to try with a driving force pro, maybe gas control changes too. :/

Heh, keeping the SL55 on the track with road tyres is easy compared to keeping a lister storm on the track with GTR. I'll see if I can do better with the nismo z-tune tonight. ;)

But it really does change the whole experience. I don't know if the DFP affects the gas, but the assists on the steering may be making tiny changes in the steering to stop you spinning out from flooring it too early.

Take my word for it, you have to be soooo careful with the M5 on street tyres with the DFP, gently bringing in the gas as you straighten the wheels out. The slightest bit of turn on the wheel as you gas it and... :crazy:

After trying to get a half decent lap with the M5 on strong feedback and street tyres no TCS, I was ready to kill! :lol:

Good luck with the Z-tune, the top times are high 1:38's. I was pleased with mine because with the DFP, I swear that was hard work :)

Like kev said, Forza and GT4 will be great in their own unique ways.

But I still want Enthusia more than GT4. By just a little. Maybe it's b/c I have heard tons of details on GT4, and rarely, and on Enthusia. Suspenseful, isn't it?

Glad to see you finally manages to get hold off GT4p Pak.
Try the Elise at Citta on road tyres and tell me its easy.

I hope you turned OFF the TC Assist in The Main Options Menu then save the game, as well as when you select car, MT,Assists off, Road tyre.
 
You see a comment like Monaro's is all well and good, he's not saying Forza will be crap, he's giving his opinion on which he thinks will be better without slagging either off. Acomment like Rico's is just retarded, Enthusia could be better than both to play, I think GT4 has the ace card with it being tried and tested and we all know how dedicated the PD team are, but I'm not going to say GT4 IS better than Forza when I haven't played one of them or seen a review of either of them ect.

Hey I got a time of 1.40.944 with the DS2, I didn't use the driving force cause it's so damn annoying when a wheel does not respond correctly. DS2 also doesn't respond correctly you really have to wait for the wheels to turn. :[

Hey I believe you about the DFP, but if you really got to straighten your wheels before smasing the gas (or else your facing backwards) it means that the whole car gets corrected with the aids turned on.
Not only the wheels, cause when I exit a corner with DS2 or DF non-pro the wheels are turned far enough to spin out but it doesn't happen. ;/
It looks like when you're not using a DFP, the whole game gets arcade physics.

So you're prolly right but can anyone make a vid of the BMW M5 on roadtyres with Driving Force Pro (no aids/tcs whatever), and make it spin out due to accelerating not braking. PLEASE. :D

Tried Elise at Citta on road tyres, aids turned off in al menu's + saved, MT, assist off. I think it's easy controlling the car: not making it spin out. But if Tacet_Blue is right then it's easy because I use the old Driving Force wheel or Dual Shock 2.

It won't be hard to get it to spin out :crazy:

But I don't have any space to host a video of any quality. If you have x-port I can do something for you, you can switch on the throttle and brake gauges to see how careful you have to be. :)

I think Arwin might be the man to ask, because he has a quality video capture card.

Start saving now, its worth every penny! Plus it takes a little while to get used to it. The throttle and brake are v sensitive, I find them a little too light, and have to take my shoes off to get any decent times!

btw 1.40.9 is pretty good for that combo 👍 Did you have to lift for the last right hander?

Hmm guess the whole car is corrected not only the wheels without the DFP.

You really need to experience the McLaren F1 at 300kph. The wheel starts trying to shake from side to side, and if you let go...... :crazy:

Also the supercars really feel like powerful cars, the steering is heavy and you have to treat the throttle with a lot of respect.

The DFP changes the game so much...bring on GT4 👍

Is the DFP even out in North america? I haven't seen it anywhere. And how much does it cost?

All I've played with was the rubbish Driving force (the one that was bundled with gt3). I was better off with the DS2.
 
i will give forza this.... if it does include more stock and GT-R versions of the McLaren F1, then the game will really get my interest. (The McLaren showed already is the same longtail in gt4, not much to get excited about if the other game already features it.) Some Lamborghini will be nice, but i would really love to be able to use a short-tail McLaren hehe, maybe GT 4 will have one, but it hasnt been shown yet. :drool:

but aww, either way, im going to be busy this november when both games hit. 👍
 
I have a feeling, the F1 GTR is also the only McLaren in the game.


(Although, I'm glad I got PGR2. McLaren F1 coming as dlc next year!)
