I need to post this one in advance because I'm not sure I'll have an internet connection available tomorrow. For a change we'll run on sports tyres and on a short city track too, so that you can run the NRS Finale too (Yellow Bird on the Ring) without having to quit your job or your wife :D ...and perhaps drifters will have a chance to run competitive times this week.
Make sure you set the correct power, we're not running a full modded car this week !

Ooo....Looks interesting...

Hold on...Is this that stupid car with the non-matching wheels?

Cool combo! Too bad if I use road tires, and actually drift, i'll probably lose time :( Looks like i'll be gripping this week :)

Looks like a cool combo 👍

Just one question, though: any particular reason the power is set to -13%? I am just wondering if maybe that was the original power of the vehicle or if there used to be races with this car and that particular power, in the past. Or if you just liked the number - 350 HP :D

cool 👍

this will be the first time that i drive on this track *g

lets see, how it is

Maybe it was to make it easier for drifters. Most of the drifters on the Drifting forum use low power, but there are a few exceptions. Maybe it's for a nice happy medium so grippers and drifters will like it.

For this one, I'm not insanely worried about the time, because this will be like another GTPDC for me. I

After I send in my final time for week 45, I will start fiddeling with this one.

we'll run on sports tyres
....

Car specifications :

any tyres.

Which is it? Hopefully we are allowed to use N tyres, sports tires drift really, umm "oddly". Maybe N and Sports.

Any Tyres (I assume you can only use 'S' and 'N' tyres on this)

I'm 99% sure you will be allowed to use N tyres, I'm also 99% sure that if you use them, you could be almost half a minute off the mark.

i'd love to see a good drifter make you eat that statement.

I bet I could get within 10 seconds of your best time, even if I drift...(with sports tires though, this car has too much understeer to successfully drift with N tires)
I will have some times up later today. I'm not the fastest drifter, but not slow either. Man, I need to get Sheron in this one...

I ran about 35 laps earlier today, I think i'm finally at my limit, but unfortunately that lap wasn't completely clean :( I just barely grazed the wall on the 2nd right turn :(

By the way, i've found that without aids i've gotten significantly better times (better by over 3 seconds), because it's easier to handle the final curve without using aids.

Usually, Guys!

What Cyril Quotes as the tyre spec, is the SOFTEST compound we can use. If he states we MUST use a tyre type, then we will use that tyre type.
Otherwise, again, USUALLY if he states sports tyres as the ones to use, what he will mean is that the softest compound tyres we can use will be the softest sport ones available (ie SS)

If you want to use harder tyres so you can drift, then why not?
They are of a harder compound,
provide less grip,
give lower corner speeds (generally),
therefore would yeald slower, but more interesting lap times!

I am seeing three problems at the moment....
1. Braking is like week 44
2. This is a hard course to drift nicely without scrubbing the wall (see GTPDC 5)
3. Massive understeer with N tyres

I've been trying sports tyres at the moment (the normal tyres are giving me way too much angle)
So far I like S soft up front and S medium in the rear. Still drifting, but not quite as much angle as the normal tyres.

Took me a ton of laps to finally get a clean one that's actually respectable time-wise. This combo is all about momentum :) Whenever I'd clear the first two corners cleanly, i'd get nervous and mess up, so it's important to keep your cool and just relax. Time your turns in the S-section carefully, and take them as close to the inside as you can, a couple of them you don't even need to brake around.

I have found the first two corners very difficult, the rest of the course isn't too bad. The last corner is crucial to getting a good time, I've only done it twice the way I want to do it. No clean laps yet (I hit the barrier on one [or both] of the first two corners every time).

I concur, the first two turns I usually scrape the wall gently, and reset the race a good 5 times so far because of it, sometimes i'll just finish the lap to get the practice, but since I think I got the rest of it down, i'm just restarting the race everytime now :) I'm pretty confident with my time thus far, and I just ordered a sharkport on ebay just in case i'm somehow on top of Div 3 for the first time :) I never bothered to get one because I never thought i'd be good enough, but this time i'm actually confident in my time!

The key to the first turn is getting as far to the left as possible and braking as late as possible into the apex. One little screw up on the first turn and you can kiss a good T1 good bye.

I meant if I raced using SS/SS, and you drifted using N's. Although, I havn't given this a shot yet, Clubman is quite short, so maybe half a minute was exaggerating a bit.

Giving this a shot now, back with times soon 👍

EDIT:
Current Best times
T1 - 20.0xx
T2 - 34.8xx

had a solid hours an a half sess and managed

19.808
53.852 ---> typo, read 33.852 (edited by flat-out)

i didnt drift one corner at all- i tried to maintain momentum in the high speed left right by staying in 4th and half throttling it, this car isnt drift friendly.

i didnt fully press down left or right on the d-pad also, as i noticed that whenever u try and do that in corner, it starts to understeer.

so i tried to be gentle with the turning and focussed on exit speed.

it is an ok combo cyril, but hard to be consistent with it due to the walls. this course/track is highly unenjoyable, particularly the first thre corners

holl01 although it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the T2 you've just listed is in fact your lap time, I'd take a closer look, and maybe edit that!:scared:

30 Minutes worth of splits

T1 - 20.212
T2 - 34.509

Hopefully get a second+ off by end of week.

i'd love to see a good drifter make you eat that statement.

Isn't 'good drifter' an oxymoron? :sly:
(throws fuel on fire)

20 minutes of this one so far, bit more difficult than i had anticipated, but still i am giving it a crack...

some splits so far

20.293
34.535

probably another 0.5-0.8 left in it (maybe a whole second if i rip it up but i doubt it)

Some splits for me now I've finally managed a clean lap! :trouble:

T1 19.968
T2 34.430

Bit disappointed though as I lost about 2/10ths in the last turn. :grumpy:

Another 30 minutes.
T1 - 19.877 (Best: 19.710)
T2 - 34.268 (Best: 34.217)
