How is that helpful? 👍
Because it's true.
I asked a valid question and got a smart aleck answer.
Also, I didn't mean to give you a "smart aleck" answer, I just found it to be the most logical answer and my intention was to simply answer his question. I apologize if I came across as a "smart aleck".
The A-Spec ones never had an expiry date. And they were just pulled without warning.
They might have not had an expiry date, but they were still in the Seasonal menu.

I agree that removing them without prior warning was kind of unexpected, but if they were in the A-Spec events then I would complain. Seeing as they were in the Seasonals, I don't see anything wrong with removing them. In fact, I think they were there too long.

CupKonan04
The seasonal events have been there for ages don't complain if they deleted some of them, seriously.

So what? That's still a large number of different events to do in the game being removed.

In fact, I think they were there too long.

I fail to see how that's a bad thing.

It isn't a bad thing. But they are Seasonal. To my understanding, not meant to stay forever. I just believe they should work how the Time/Drift trials cycle, as those seemed to be truly seasonal (thus, changing). That's how I see it.

I like everything about the update, good improvements, but I'm posting here because I'm disappointed that the "One make cup" race mode in gt-mode, practice, is still a half baked affair, and a waste of a potentially excellent game mode.

The a.i always use completely stock versions of the car you are driving, but nothing tells you that they will, and there's no reason why they should, as far as I can tell.

The a.i should use an exact replica of your own car in this mode, pretty obvious really. If you have added parts, they should have those parts too. The only difference should be body colour.

You should be able to choose their tyres, and you should be able to start from the very back of the grid.

If the "aggression" setting for arcade mode does not affect this mode, it should.

Explain why this is relevant.

Sorry if I expressed myself ambiguously. I meant those particular seasonal events which have been deleted. I was referring to the people who complained about the removal of those particular events. I really don't get their point because those events have been there, ready to do, for months.

Agreed.

They may have been there for quite a while but some of us like repeating the events with different cars. Not everyone just does them once and then forgets about them.

Also, not everyone has owned GT5 the day it came out and witnessed the game gradually grow. Chances are, people are still buying the game to this day. Now newcomers miss out on the variety of different events we once had. And another thing to point out: how hard would it have been to remove one event, then replace it with a new one so that the variety could be maintained? They removed a bunch of them and added a new one. I'm pretty sure the former would have been a really simple thing to do.

Why not tell the whole story? For example that Jeremy tore through the tyres on his (last) stint because he could simply not restrain himself from going flat out?

However if you're into some actual facts and not some nonsense from an entertainment TV programme I encourage you to listen to the 24 hours NĂĽrburgring coverage by Radio Le Mans (available through iTunes) and pay close attention what some actual (gentleman) drivers have to say on tyre preservation and endurance race strategies.

And, as a matter of fact, I thought the GT4 tyre modell being much more 'fun' than GT5 pre 2.02 because it was way easier to tear through the rubber and the trade-offs between compounds were much more noticeable. Screw real life in that respect, it's more fun to me to have a very noticeable trade off and racing tyres are so overused on top of that. Ever wondered why Kaz' N24 GT-R, the very same he used to practice in GT5, comes on SS? That car is meant a true to life replica of the car he drove in the actual race earlier this year.
Ok, so because it was possible to tear through the tires in 3 hours now means 30 minutes is the longest a racing slick can last?

And the rest is you saying you prefer a lack of realism...I don't care.

I'm not dissapointed by the update, but I do have a new bug on my game. When I go to an online lobby (public or private) I can't enter the Premium cars tab. The cursor jumps between Standard and Favorite Tabs, ignoring Premium, so I can only use Standard, Favorite and Recommended. Does anyone else have this problem?
Any help is welcomed.

Overall I have to say this was a decent update compared to some of the lame ones of the past simply because of the rim changing and some of the fixes. I actually really like the wheel changes as now I can play some of the standards without putting up with the unsightly rims lol. My supra finally looks the part as well as my Ruf's Paganis etc though I still use dark colors on them to hide the unsightly modeling. But true to PD fashion its never all the way what they say as there are many standards were the wheels cant be changed.

The one standard I was looking forward to wheel changing was, as I expected, not going to be able to be wheel changed. The Veyron:grumpy:. If you are not going to make the most premium worthy streetcar in the game a premium the least you can do is let us change the rims. The rest of the gimmicky stuff like coupons etc are pretty lame in my opinion. On a scale of 1-5 5 being best I give this update a 3 only because of the rim change. I hope they add more standard rim changes in a future update. Veyron, Saleen S7 to name a few and some race cars need it bad.

Lots of good things in the update , though I'll really miss the f1seasonals -trying to shave tenths of a second off my best llaptimes while making mucho crs will always be my abiding gt5 memory.
👍
Will also miss lambo, ferarri, classic car events too. Is it possible that the events weren't removed , but that this may be a bug introduced by the patch instead?

Why are people still crying avout the seasonal events? Do you people not know what seasonal means? Some of those events have been there since the summer. Welcome to the WINTER. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. I hope you enjoy THIS *season's* events.

I don't know how some of you can complain, really.

'They deleted some sessional events' - So, its not like we won't get new ones?

'You can't change wheels on SOME standard cars' - You can't change wheels on SOME premium cars either.

I feel like some of you are complaining for the sake of complaining?

Why are people so incapable of understanding how irrelevant that is?

Do we have those new ones now?

They did NOT have expiry dates, therefore i assumed that PD were attempting to add to their (by their own admission ) lacklustre no of Aspec events.
There's no tears here, just total incomprehension:dunce:

Ill say it again. Sony needs a studio or to boot Kaz on his butt, and get somebody that knows how to make a complete game and not 1/2 baked in 20 different directions. Its getting ridiculous.

Makes you wonder if PD has any comman sense. If GT5 is Kaz's dream, I would hate to see what his nightmares are like...

Useless thread.

Thank you PD for continuing to support GT5, and providing us with the best update thusfar. Happy Holidays from Florida!

I'm liking some of the new updates, changing the wheels on standard cars was a good move for me personally, as it meant I could replicate my daily driver P10 in GT5 lol. Gutted about losing some of the seasonals, but then they are just that, seasonals, so was expecting them to be removed at some point.
Not tried the chase cam as yet so cannot comment on that, but sounds to be a pretty funky addition.

OK. So the seasonals are 'seasonal'. Could PD not have WARNED us that they were going to remove them? There are so many things I still wanted to try. (Yes, some people do actually play A-spec as well.) The supercar one was where I used to test all of my normal cars modded to become supercar killers. Gone. The day to night/fireworks experience at Toscana. Gone. The joy of throwing a Ferrari around La Sarthe. Gone.

And, surprise surprise, one of the few events left is... a Japanese one.(Where you can't even race most of your 672 Japanese cars.) I'm sorry, reducing the A-spec part of the game like that, after admitting it's too small, is just plain stupid on KY's part. (Please don't tell me it's a server thing. They should have contingency plans. The online traffic is surely down by now as well, so...)

Oh, and as a final kick in the nuts last night, I took my Pug 908 for a spin only to find out that its glorious soundtrack has been replaced by that of a food processor. Sheer genius, KY. Good one.

Flame away.

I'm actually trying really hard to think of something really good from this update...

I guess being able to select "no ABS" online is good. Wheels on standards, except I almost never drive standards.

New sound bugs like not being able to hear tires, and online is and has been screwed up since the server "maintenance" from 3 weeks ago. I was really hoping they would fix that, but I'm not sure they even know how terrible it is.

I thought I'd run through some issues myself.
  • The DFGT feel is strange now. There's a flabby, mushy not-quite dead zone now that makes handling the car feel like the cheapy MS FFB Wheel. It's actually caused me a few spin-outs tonight on Spa, testing the DLC cars and a dozen of my faves. I wonder if this isn't a spotty issue on particular PS3s because I don't think anyone else has mentioned it. Or... I could check my wheel settings tomorrow and see if they changed...
  • At first blush, I'm not sure about new the racing tires. I guess this will take some adjustment.
  • It seems that the sound issues are on particular machines, not all, maybe the update needs more testing. I have no critical sound issues. All my cars sound outstanding, and noise isn't overpowering even at high speed, but then I drive from roof and interior view. The only thing is that the tire noise now seems more distant, as if it's coming from my competitors' cars. I use stereo sound out of the SCART outputs.
  • Being able to change wheels on Standards is actually pretty nice, but I have to admit that I keep finding stock wheels which look just fine. I may not change as many as I thought.

And guys, I know this is a mostly nice update, but A-Spec is way too short on events to yank out a vast majority of the Seasonal races. You should consider everything the people here have posted about them, and why they're desirable before you pop off at people. Some of the complainers are trying to offer suggestions for valid improvements. Maybe I should reiterate something.

Since A-Spec is so vexingly short, PD really should do one or all of these things:
  • Provide the removed Seasonal events as additional downloadable events in GT Mode, along with the prize credits and bonuses.
  • Produce a number of similar events to those removed very soon. In particular, I enjoyed the Ferrari Race on La Sarthe a lot, not too long but profitable.
  • Expand the A-Spec races a LOT. Provide theme based events such as WRC, DTM, ALMS, Super GT, FGT, etc. Make them nice and long, with five or more tracks, and in locations which match the theme, such as European-like locations for DTM, Japanese/Asian for Super GT, etc.
  • Provide Manufacturer Cup events as in GT4, accessible from the Dealership or your garage, linked from your cars.
  • Provide an Event Creator as in GT2. Allow us to define just about everything: type of event (drag race, point-to-point rally and terrain, circuit track), number of tracks in the list, separate lap count for each track, weather and time of day settings per track if applicable, rules, restrictions and penalties, and prize amounts. Even number of cars, with bots taking up unfilled slots for online races.
  • Add to the Course Maker Terrain Type, and allow us to use our custom tracks in the Event Maker.
  • For pity's sake, let us race on all the custom tracks! I'm tired of having to turn on the racing line because the tracks used in certain events made with the Course Maker by PD aren't available in Arcade Mode for Races, Time Trial or Practice! I'd like to use them in the Event Maker track list too.
Any number of these would give GT5 replayability for... ever. ;)

I try to support PD when update come out and people are moaning about it, such as hey at least some standard have good cock-pits, and hey at least you can change the wheels on some cars now, but what was he thinking with the degradation upgrade? Half a lap of Indy road circuit in a 599 and the tyres are knackered by the end of the drag strip?

I Hate what they have done with the outside of the car while driving the whole screen moves and its realy irritating, another thing is without the DLC You cant go into an online lobby and drive on spa -.-

Really?? That is probably because you haven't bought the DLC track pack!
If you buy this, you can use SPA both online and offline, just like the people you have freeloaded on when you where driving on SPA previously;)

Happy holidays!
