How? Its not exclusive to Black Bean as far as I know.

Can't remember where I saw it, but it's plain as day no? They were touting the WRC license before the game came out, then when it released there was no official WRC content anywhere.

...the standards ARE converted. But they can't get new wheels.

I don't care if they put the Nascars in. More choice is always good.

This'll be a great update, looking forward to driving the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze*Motorsport, for free. ;)

no man, I was joking around. Trying to lighten people up. This place is a tense one.

Yea, tense it is. Seems like every thread I come acrossed, people are arguing or crying about something ya know. So....you wanna box, lol.

How can 2011 Nascars be included as new cars?

It's the same friggin skin isn't it?

Its the game Kaz made for Kaz and thats why GT has been lost to me for some time now.

My 2 cents..get over it.

Troll out trollin'.

Yes, technically the same skin except a new nose and different livery. That's why they are so easy to produce and FREE.

Not to mention, people said to make use of the Licenses they have, so why not add more cars that are, as you said, Free. Something I'm grateful of because it's Free.

They're free..... so what's the problem here???

Basically as usual, "Its not what I want, wahhh."

Or trolling as many appear to reffer to it.

I wasn't happy NASCAR was included from the beginning, but once I drove them I enjoyed the cars. The oval racing is crap tho, yes it's my opinion. I just do not understand why Sears Point wasn't brought over from GT4, I love that track in multiple games. Someone mentioned Watkins Glen earlier, I have that in GTR2 and love it.

But even though these are free I would have still preferred PD worked on areas which are LACKING premium content. We allready have damn good NASCARS in the game. DTM is lacking Oz V8s are lacking, How about ALMS (although havn't they done a deal with Forza, so that could be problematic) but LMES, GT1? All that is massively popular yet is also massively under represented in GT5....which I think is a lot of peoples biggest complaint.

Don't you just wish they'd understand the difference between complaining and trolling?

I'm disappointed to hear that they're adding more NASCAR models. I want to see some of good standard cars being converted into premium! Not bloody NASCAR... :nervous:

Wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but it's definitely not cause for excitement either.

Hi all,

I don't think that it is NASCAR hate that we're seeing in this thread. It is perhaps the concept of opportunity cost - that the 2011 NASCARS were included at the expense of other improvements that PD should have made, or given greater priority (eg fixing of shadows, more offline A-spec events, standing starts) as they have a much greater impact on gameplay.

Having said this, I agree with the OP that adding 11 NASCARS, while better than nothing (and I'm using this expression not in a positive sense), is quite unnecessary given the opportunity costs. The main differences would be perhaps livery (?), and for non-followers, it may seem like unnecessary duplication. A more well-rounded update, say including a couple of Aus V8 supercars, German DTM machines, BTCC machines, maybe even Formula Drift / Formula Ford, or any other racing series, would perhaps have been more welcome across the board.

I'm not sure what is GT5's target demographic, but if it is global, other racing series should also be included.

@sny_pher
That's understandable. One thing you might not be aware of is that it isn't difficult adding more NASCAR cars as it would to replicate any other car, aside from a kart which is probably the best example because that's a premium that won't change drastically. Well, karts would probably stay the same, but I think you should get what I'm trying to say.

Naturally, I was referring to the "Its not what I want, wahhh." Whining and complaining in itself doesn't constitute trolling.

Gotcha gotcha. I clearly misunderstood. I'm going to go sit in my corner now.

I just wish they had the sound right with these cars. It's not even close right now. Still, they're pretty fun to drive.

Hmmm, its free content so I'm happy to see new cars. But new NASCARS to me seems the easy option out. If they told us all that we'd get 11 new MX-5's with a new colour scheme it would only just be below this. I get why they would do it though.

I hope though that this leads further with the licenses available. As I understand it, they have the license to NASCAR, WRC and JGTC. So hopefully we may see the 2011 cars from these series as well? Fiesta, DS3 and Mini Rally cars plus the Honda HSV-01 (I believe it is, the awesome one!). Never know, these may even be the DLC?

Thing is, these free updates are still "damage control", or "compensation", if you wish, for the embarassment that GT5 has been and still is in many ways for PD. Yes, they could have left the game the way it was at day 1, but they would have quickly lost support from the gaming community and ensured that this one would have been the last game in the franchise for once and for all.

+1000 👍👍👍

There should be a line drawn between 'genuine improvement', and 'damage control'. IMO, all PD has done so far, without denigrating their efforts, is sadly what I would term as 'damage control'. While I applaud PD's dedication in updating and fixing bugs, and more devs should follow this example, at the end of the day, the reasonableness of the product was not as expected in the first instance (despite its positives), and in many tangible ways a step backwards (loss of a number of classic GT tracks, poor weather control options, limited number of tracks with weather and timing options compared to what was advertised, difference in online and offline physics, slow load times, limited A-spec and B-spec events).

[Slightly off-topic]

On this note, I would only cautiously 'welcome' the (paid) DLC, since these additional content should not have been excluded in the first instance. After all, Kaz said quite early on that he had no plans for DLC, so I personally don't like the step PD is taking with (paid) DLC. I would not like developers to deliberately strip out content, so they have the option to monetise them separately at a later date (via DLC or other microtransactions).

Unless the additional content really brings something different to the table that significantly changes gameplay mechanics like expansion packs in the old days, the additional cars and tracks should not be release as (paid) DLC. Such moves are, IMO, not good for gamers and the gaming industry.

[Ok, now back on topic =) ]

Thanks Jak for the info, and I do understand where you're coming from =)

You're welcome ma'am. If that's your real name/gender. No man I know of uses "=)" hahaha

So sorry if you are a man. I'm only partly human.

No worries, actually I'm not female. Didn't know that males don't use '=)' ! I use it as it is easier for me to type.

It just looks more feminine. You're sentence structure is really good too. Kinda how like girls have neat handwriting.

👍 It's a good thing. It means you're not me and have something to look forward to in the future. :scared:

Does anyone who follows NASCAR, know from the picture, whether the new cars are likely to be for new drivers or is it just new liveries for the existing cars that we have. I noticed that Kyle Busch seemed to have a different colour on his recently.
Also, do you know if there are any other differences in the cars in 2011? Are they likely to be any faster or slower?

All of the cars shown on the first screenshot are updated versions of the ones in (3 aren't in the shot but I guess they are Montoya, Edwards and Busch's cars).
