Those are the details of what I can get. I had cable here friday and got the 10mb connection. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the max speed I could get that my PS3 (more importantly GT5 and maybe COD too I know I suck) would have the maximum online PSN speed. I want the best possible so I can host rooms(when I do now no one ever joins I have the 10mb connection) with good quality. Im a very clean racer and when I make a mistake i really do penalize myself by stopping so I really want the privilege of booting the idiots (I basically penalize myself the way the FIA would, but 2x as harsh because I think of myself as a top tier racer and if I can't beat someone fair I should lose! Anyway if a smarter person than I could tell me the best connection from the ones I posted I could benefit from PS3 wise please inform me The money isn't an object. I'm not rich by any means, but can afford any of them I just don't need more speed on the PC and dont want to pay for more than I need. Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it.

Generally speaking you should be okay with 10mb down, 1mb upload. When it comes to online gaming its your upload speed and ping thats more important than your download speed. If you want to host large rooms then you need a good upload connection and 1mb should be fine because thats what mine is.

When it comes to ping or latency then thats a different matter. Ideally the lower the better. However ping largely depends on distance. For example my ping to a local server is only 20m/s but if I connect to a server on the e coast of the US then it will rise to over 100m/s.

So ideally you need to play against people who are from the same country as you. Doesn't matter how fast your connection is because it cannot resolve the problem of the distance between gamers in the US, Europe, Australia. I remember once playing MW2 against some gamers in Australia and because the host was from Australia it was a nightmare!

Just fYi: I have 100 mbit down and 10 up (and perfectly fine latency on my PC for shooters or RTS games) - PS Net is still "laggy" though. PS3 is connected with a cable as WLAN had way to much timeouts (notebook fine here ...)
As long as you have a normal DSL that should be fine. Dont get less than 1 MB up though.

bandwidth's worthless if your ping's through the roof (besides, 1 Meg down/up is plenty for online games), make sure your connection's set in "Fastpath", favor straight optical fiber over classic DSL's and avoid wireless routers like a plague (don't care if you got 200% signal, they're still going to cripple your latency badly no matter what).

Depends on whether you host and how many people are in the room. Let me put it this way I wouldn't want to be in a room of 16 if the host only has 0.5mb upload connection. These days I would recommend 1mb being the minimum. Im lucky because my ISP offers 1.3mb upload, I get 14mb download and I only pay £10 a month!

I did start a thread once advising UK members which ISPs I would recommend. Many people are paying way too much and like me could get much faster speeds at a much lower price. Before I changed ISP I was paying £25 a month for 2mb download speed!

Highly recommend this site for UK members. Type in your postcode and see which ISPS are available.

If your exchange hasn't been enabled for 21CN, and you don't have BTs new infinity broadband in your area I would recommend a LLU operator like O2/Bethere.
