I was just checking Youtube and i saw this comparison of Forza and the GT5 TT demo. even though it is a bit unfair to compare a demo with a full game, we get to see how both games compare. they are both on component cables in 720p which IMO is a bit unfair to GT since it runs so well in 1080p with HDMI. Still, it's worth checking out. here's the video:

Looks like a "we need hits" video, from Machinima. Otherwise, I'm not sure of its point (not the point of your posting). No offense to you motortrend. Thanks for sharing.

I quite liked it. Shows the big advantages of each game. Forza has the sound and...erm..., well and GT has the physics, the graphics, the licenses....

:yuck:The video quality is crap. Then again it was barely uploaded. They need better recording equipment because on the replays the video starts jumping on both forza and gt and I've never had that problem with gt in replays in 720p.

How does the hood get scratched all the way up there from a head on collision in Forza? I don't get that.

I thought the forza damage was actually good. What are all those Xbox fans raving about?
I would rather have no damage than that crap. He hits the wall at 180 km/h and pops a little dent in the front and scratches down the sides!? I know GT5 will be something like this, but for such a talked-up game like forza, I am unimpressed.

*Sigh*

It's just everywhere. Forza this. GT that; Forza vs. GT.

You know for a game that some inadvertently consider to not be in competition to GT, it sure as hell gets compared to it. Alot.

What's the point of comparing these 2 games? They're exclusive. They're the best racing game up to date on their own console. You're pretty much don't have a choice here (you only compare when you can choose)

The person who made this video is stupid because who the hell has "RGB" set to "FULL" on a high definition tv? RGB "limited" is for high def/HDTV and "RGB full" is what you would use for standard tvs to improve the picture, so either way this video is stupid. Also GT5 looks more like the real life track. So if you have a HDTV and think that by changing to RGB FULL is the better picture quality then your wrong, because this is only true in rare cases and normally makes the picture much worse with over-saturated colors.

This is my opinion, after having played through GT3, GT4 and Forza 2 almost all the way, as well as playing demos of forza 3 and GT5:

They have all been the best game on the market when they came out. I will admit it, Forza 3 is better than GT 4, in my opinion because of the customization, damage graphics etc. but GT5 will be better. Turn 10 may come out with a Forza 4 that is better than GT5 ( I doubt it) but PD will come out with GT6 (20 years later...) that will be the best thing since Cruisin USA. As long as the release dates are staggered they will keep trying to one up the other.

What's the point of comparing these 2 games?

@final lap

Sony specify the RGB video range as follows:
Limited RGB output signal is output in the range from 16 to 235.
Full RGB output signal is output in the range from 0 to 255.

If your TV is also capable of displaying these colours you will get a greater range of colours which is a GOOD thing. Turn RGB Full and SuperWhite On for best quality with newer HD TV's via HDMI.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up, looks like I need to upgrade to a newer hdtv lol. :D

im not really satisfied with the review but here is my point of view...

Gt5 has better graphics and resolution is perfect...
To be honest (btw i'm a huge gt5 fan) sound is better in Forza... 370 sounds just like it should sound...
Replays are again on Gt5 side... better looking, effects ecc.
Car psyhics... to tell you the truth i didnt play Forza so i cant say...
Gt5 psyhics are beautiful done...
Damage... well based on ths video, Forza damage is really bad, or should i say, lousy made...(180km/h in the wall and you can continue driving. I dont think so!)
i suppose Gt5 will have better damage modelling...
And game content... Gt5 will have 1000+ cars and 20 tracks...
i sure hope for more tracks... it would be a BIG minus...

Forza has 400+ cars and 100 tracks... Gt5 should make more tracks and it will roughly dominate... i know it takes time for it, but we can do it.

Conclusion: Gt5 beats it easily... All changes we need is better sound and more tracks! Pls tell me whats your thoughts? Thank you, cheers!

Are driving aids on in the Forza bits? Doesn't seem natural to me, but i thought differently when i played it myself. Maybe its just because they're driving so slowly

EDIT: These comparisons are pointless really. In a full game its not just the driving aspect that matters. I hope PD kept this in mind, we want to see some awesome off the track features and a solid online mode.

About the numbers... Forza has 400+ cars and 22 tracks (over 100 with variations and reverses).
GT5 will have 1000+ cars and I'm pretty sure about 40-50 tracks WITHOUT variations (over 70 with variations, and ~100 with reverses).

Just two more months and then these stupid comparison videos will end.
Its always funny how people compare a full game to a demo(gt5p) and now not even a demo(GT5TT).

The clock doesn't work. Oh my god, someone call the president. There is something wrong with the world. This pointless comparison alone goes to show how miserable F3 is compared to GT. Why don't they compare the graphics, the physics, the features the number of cars. Maybe because F3 can't hold to GT in any of these departments, even sale figures proved it is a massive failure, just like this comparison video.

RGB full is actually for newer sets that can support it...

i was gonna touch on this but you cleared it up for me...Forza does NOT have 100+ tracks...it has 20 something and a BAZZILLION variations to some of them....i think the Sidewinder Track has like 8 or 9 variations....as well as the mountain track from the demo....

Flawed comparison. PS3 has HDMI and GT5 can output 1080p.

  • The most important thing, GT has better physics.
  • As for graphics, in this comparison you can tell GT has far better lighting. FM3 uses HDR at FP10 precision. Not sure what GT is using but it is most likely NAO32, or it could be FP16. Either way it is significantly better. Just look at the lighting in the cockpit view.
  • Car models are much better in GT.
  • Better AA in GT
  • Background in these perticular tracks are much different, so you cant really compare. But for now I'll give that to FM3. But other tracks we've seen (Eiger, London, Tokyo etc.) look better then this Forza track.
  • Sound, Forza has better sound
  • GT has more AF
  • GT has better post processing effect's in replays

GT wins this bad comparison.

I liked the sound in GT5 TT demo. Now in comparison I think GT5 has the better sound overall, enginge and tire squeel.
But I seem to be the only one thinking that.

Why do they mention the physics engine in Forza 3 running at 360fps? It's nothing special, even the physics engine in SHIFT runs faster.

You gotta admit the forza 370 reacts more properly to a highspeed hit in the wall. Putting away damage because neither of the games has it right, the sole reaction of the collision physics is better. It jumps back and spins, it doesn't just stop continuing to spin the wheels.
The sound seems better, but not sure about more accurate. Anyway it definitely is more exciting and close to a real car if not a 370.
Everything else GT does better.
