With most cars(the ferrari enzo for example i tap the brakes slightly and the car just spins out. I use Logitech DFGT. How do i stop this?
Thanks

Brake Bias.

When using no abs you need to alter your brake bias.

I start every car with

F 4
R 2

Then play about with it. You don't want to much on the rear compared to the front or you will spin.
The other thing is you only need to very lightly use the brake pedal with no abs. Pressing it all the way will result in a lock up, then probably a spin.

Some people with a dfgt use a squash ball to stiffen the feel of the brake pedal.

That, and

I think you're not calibrating your brake pedal properly if you start the game using ABS 0. Push it all the way down to calibrate it.

When Skuh says to press the brake pedal lightly, you should never go passed the halfway point. There could be certain situations where you'll need to, but I wouldn't know when.

I use bungee cords as Charlie56560 has said. I also wedge 2 pieces of foam in the pedals. Worked pretty well for controlling both pedals.

But the problem that you're most likely having is the 5/5 brake bias. Trying tuning it down. It differs for the cars you use, but you generally want a low rear brake bias for a RWD car. I'm usually between 4-1 on the rear brake bias.

But.. I see people on youtube using no assists and they just press the brake fully straight away
Like this for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHvHOuRh6oo

Some people do not consider ABS as an assist, I saw that the guy who drove in the video is a pad user, if he can apply full brake force without locking the wheel until very late in corner entry, very likely ABS was used.

Check my sig link for no ABS driving with a stick ;) and see the difference.

Looking at the video again. not convinced he isn't using abs anyway even with his pad. Body language of the car doesn't look right for no abs when he brakes. I'm calling abs on that vid until i see otherwise.

Wouldn't the wheels lock up regardless? If not, listen to the sounds. If it was no ABS, you'd hear a clear change in the tires screeching from violent to the "normal" pushing the tires to their limit around corners.

haha nevermind. I read it wrong.

Haven't got sound on, in work. When the wheels lock up in abs the whole car, just locks and slides forward in stationary way. When you lock up with abs 0. The car tends to slide to one side, as a precursor to a spin.

Still say this isn't abs 0

Edit: watched it again. Convinced he is using abs. The car is too neat and tidy in the skid for abs 0.

2 small bungees and several pieces of a tiling sponge in the brake pedal slot helped immensely on my DFGT. I cut the sponge up and kept adding pieces into the slot until it took a fair amount of pressure to put it all the way down.

A squash ball is just about perfect for the dfgt brake pedal. It's almost as if logitech knew when they made the wheel. It fits and works that well.

I thought you were talking about how you weren't convinced he WAS using ABS. That post you replied to was pointless. Sorry for wasting your time :dunce:.

Its throttle control too, i go about half throttle and the car completely spins out on me, its BS!

Halfway point for accelerating around a corner might be too much. Steering technique might be making or even tempting you to use too much power. The problem lies with the way you're driving. When did you first use the DFGT?

Great idea! I must give that a go. It should have better feel than sponge.

ABS is semi broken in this game due to the fact when its enabled you can downshift and rap the red line when doing so without fear of causing the driving wheels to start skidding you out, with ABS off you can't downshift care free, as soon as you downshift to quickly and rap the rev limiter you will start to skid.

It should not be like this, regardless if ABS is on or off when you rap rev limiter on down shift it should cause the drive wheels to partially lock up.

Practice makes better. You can do it!

For a DFP / DFGT, a 6" cut of 3/8" polystyrene pipe insulation tubing also works well. Use a bit of duct tape to help prevent splitting on the pre-slit line, and slide it under the brake pedal. Give it a firm press when calibrating.

Remember if using abs 0 to sync your brake pedal by preasing it all way down atleast once in race. After syncing you wont have to sync until you restart gt5
