GT5 Cover officially announced!

I've got to say the box art does look brilliant. Kaz and PD can be proud of themselves. Yesterday IRL, today box art, tomorrow CES 2010. This is the perfect time for PD and Sony to have a full blow out. The most we can hope for at CES is an American release date and then a European one at Belgium.

This year is going to be a long one but we've waited for so long. I can wait.

EDIT: The trailer that only the press were aloud to see I feel is coming to us very soon. Also earlier I saw the Gran Turismo website and it said SCEE unveiled the front cover. Sorry if this has already been said.

Boaxarts usually get released 2-3 months before release and the PEGI rating is also a good indication that it isnt too far away in Europe.

The game should go gold in late February, so it will be released around late March/April.
 
The PEGI rating is a place holder imo. There is no listing on the pegi website. The german cover has a usk rating and isn't listed on the website neither.

There's nothing to stop them just putting the PEGI rating they're aiming for as a placeholder until the game actually gets rated in a month or so. Surely it's too soon for a rating, as the game would need to be finished.

The game is finished, it comes out in March in Japan so its probably in testing now.
 
Even though I don't like the car all that much, I still think it's a very nice looking cover. 👍
 
I don't like that the car is transparent at some parts. It would look much better if it was just a solid car.
 
Why never in a racing game there is an Italian car in the cover?

I was really hoping to see the 458... :(

The Project Gotham Racing series from Microsoft have typically depicted Ferraris on the cover...

I guess they are not widely used becuase it's a bit predictable. The new Merc is a perfect choice - a car then blends perfectly the lines of old classic cars with modern engineering, and it's not a Ferrari, or Lambo, or Veyron, or Audi R8 etc. The 458 is a stunning car, but I'm happy with what they picked and how they presented it.

Come on, give him some credit, he had the "only for ps3" thing right! ;)

My cover was pretty close too.. :p alot of black and the car is a almost thesame angle but alot further. But I guess that's hindsight. :dopey:

The concept is almost thesame, earth, well done. If you used the filter in photoshop which can make those white lines, the execution would be very very close. 👍
 
The cover looks ok but to be honest the box will sit hidden away in a cupboard while the game disc stays inside my PS3, I wouldn't mind if the cover was blank, it's the disc inside I want!

really??? who cares about the cover... the CD can come in a paper cover for all i care as long as the game is good...

some people got their expectation set EXTREMELY high for this game... there is only so much they can do.
 
GT4's cover is a bit better, but this is good too. It makes the SLS AMG look inviting/enticing. Because, in my opinion, it's ugly from most angles.

I found GT4's cover only "OK" in comparison to this masterpiece, but I did love one thing about GT4's presentation - the white case.

Yeah, I agree on this but you know what, it is important for some how the 'face' of the new gt looks. Sure the game is really what matters. The more I look at it the more I like it, I'm glad they didn't just use a real pic of the car, they've shown us how close their model blurs the line of reality. The fact they're showing us detail of the doors opened has me fairly convinced we'll get to open up the cars in our garages/showrooms, maybe even look about with playstation eye? :dopey:

If a GT game ever comes up with that cover, I will tear it up and make one my own.

A mundane Toyota on the cover is just wrong...I mean, why don't you just throw up a pic of a Camry Hybrid while you're at it?

Its the same as with CD covers, i collect the few games i have, a nice artwork on the box is cool.
 
Anyone know if video game developers release things to a certain schedule? Like, releasing the cover art when the game is officially finished? You would think that they wouldn't release the cover art if they weren't sure the game was coming out very soon...

they've still got to make a bazillion copies of the game first. then they'll send it out to stores
