Any one know how many people are playing GT5 online? I know Modern Warfare has a counter and tells you. Just curious what kind of numbers GT5 is drawing since I am finding it increasingly difficult to find lobbies.
Shuffle is dead it seems and normal racing is too time consuming.
This game needs a refresh now, before it dies.

Match making Anyone?

Edit; Ok dead or dying was harsh. Online is not thriving, for me anyway, which I wish it would.

I mean damn man even at a year of play that was unheard of just a short while back. Most you youngsters blow through a game in nonstop play in a nite or two, then raise heck cause it was'nt long enough..............Who cares so long as they support it I'll play it when time permits.......

The fact that anyone thinks GT5 is dying is beyond me.

And me.:odd:

It's pretty obvious; based on past topics/posts it's because Kaz has NOT done the following:

1. Given us Every car in existence
2. Given us every track in existence
3. Hasn't given us graphics which are more detailed than real life itself

And because he HAS done the following:

1. Given us a (FREE) Hyper-Car which makes endurance races easy
2. Began providing DLC "every two months"
3. Has spent his time with a game to make it better.

Unbelievable...

Your not rolling with the right crowd. Get some new friends. GT5 is as much alive with my crew as it was standing in line at midnight a year ago!

still play almost every day....alive and kickin', i would say

This. 100% concur.

Damn. I did not mean to stir up the fan boys and the nonsensical irrational takes. just pointing out it's harder and harder to find a good room.

This kind of explains it for me. exactly whats wrong with this game. Unless your want to cultivate your own clique. It's random lobbies? I am not looking for a scene or control. I want competition. I don't want to work at it like a career networking experiment. i just want to get in, get out and get some competition on.

Well, you kinda did.

No-one has said anything irrational.

]Not for the majority of racers/members.

I am still thoroughly enjoying this game 👍
But i can see how people might have got bored by now, with the lack of A spec events and so on.

I understand the random lobbies point, but still have good races daily. Sometimes it takes a few tries finding a good lobby monitored by a good host. If weekly events aren't for you, just add some friends. Sometimes I want to race with guys I know, sometimes I want to relax on my own. Anyone feel free to add me. I'm on daily, share drivers for remote racing, but most importantly am laid back. You should never feel obligated to chase down friends just because you see them online. GT5 is much better with some decent friends. Enjoy!

I'm getting right back into the GT mindset again and so far I have had no trouble finding rooms. 👍

I think that the lobbies have gotten better over time. More of the "non hardcore" gamers arent playing online. Leaves room for better competition. Dont get me wrong, there are still some pretty bad rooms out there. Def not as many "show off, chill and trade" rooms. Remember back in the day how many glitch rooms there were? That was the worst! Even though I took part in some of those.

Yes, the game is dying.

But that is true for almost all other games. As time plods on, less people play.

However, you tend to have the better players left, so the online experience is better than ever.

I've been seeing a lot of rooms online lately(mind you not as much when the game first came out) and 99% of them have been clean, competitive, and fun. Quality over quantity;)

Name one other game that doesn't suffer this same problem online and that is also being inserted into your PS# a year after its release, please.

Like most others I still play every day, still plenty of 400-550pp roadcar rooms about, so thats all good with me :)

Its good that there are no longer loads of TGTT rooms on the server list!

Modern Warfare, provided you have a current/version of the game. It's $60 annually and I see some games are charging an online fee now? But W/E.
I dont play it much as learning maps not my thing and that game is truly competitive. Don't put in the hours, and your going to get schooled. GT5 is going to cost right around $60 annualy if you buy DLC every two months. But IMO, the quality and thoroughness of MW and its attention to the online component dwarfs GT5. GT5 isn't even in it's league.
I think it could be with some creative tweaking, or consideration at all for the online component.

It's not dead or dieing it's just not in the light. Gt5 has some of the most handy thing any online game should have and yes plus all the free stuff and dlc every two mouths it's just stuck in limbo because people really don't know about it and the joy that can be had from it because every one gets some different joy from playing gt5.

GT5 is one of 2 titles for the entire PS3 lineup that fit these criteria for you. While it is clear that your experience differs from others here vis a vis online, that's a pretty good track record. If it were GT5: The Online Driving Simulator, I would cede to your assessment. However, determining GT5's health based on online play is a bit shortsighted. If you really want to see the impact of the game, look beyond just online to all the other aspects. And I don't mean just the game modules themselves. Go talk to some of the bright minds on these boards that have applied real life mathematics, probability, organization, etc. to this game in creating aids for playing and collecting. Stop by the marketplace or check my sig for my trading schedule to see just how many people interact with the game in some way on a daily basis and still ANXIOUSLY await OCD changes. Then come back and post again about whether you think GT5's demise is afoot.

I could agree with that more or less. I am talking about the online though. I think a thriving Online presence is a must to support the DLC model, but maybe I am wrong. And I never said GT's demise was afoot or anything underhanded like that. just noticing the dwindling lobbies and starting a conversation about it.

I think the games problem is the fact that it seems like the same old thing time after time.
GT isnt doing anything new, infact its eons behind other games on some levels and that is the fault of Sony and pd, kaz lives in a buble where he thinks taking years & years to create a game which in truth offers less in the way of content as a previous title (GT4) is a good thing.
Personally Im not playing it as much nowdays (and I am a true GT fan) Basically because I have had enough of the stupid unreliable servers GT uses and Im at the point where online-play is all the game really has to offer.
Is GT Dieing Hmm I hope not, but Sony & PD really need to get a grip on how they do things

I can't speak to the online experience, as it holds no allure for me. I would disagree with your thoughts on DLC though. You really should take a 15 minute trip to the marketplace to see how many collectors/traders are active. DLC, OCD switches, or anything that adds to what can be collected/traded will always keep that part of things going. Throw in DLC tracks, and you will put in the more driving driven folks. You might also get a slight uptick in online play as well.

Racing series' and photomode alone keeps GT5 well and alive. Not to mention the GTP community. :sly:

The number of players stuck on one specific game should decrease as time passes things turning out to be nothing fresh any longer, which gives us an option to move on to another game they haven't yet enjoyed themselves with, or continue doing the same monotonous thing repeatedly, making us feel that it's just a loss of our time should be devoted to more sensible purposes.

So I guess there will be less and less people in the lobby unless PD introduces something stimulative to us idlers...

I guess this sort of highlights the fact that there are many different kinds of users of GT5 from the casual gamer to the auto enthusiast. I think at the casual gamer end of the spectrum, you're right. However, as you go along the continuum toward auto enthusiast, I think there needs to be less external "stimulation" to keep things fresh.
