GT5 delayed

Im in a real dilemma because Sony haven't announced the release date yet.

As im a big fan of COD games I cannot decide whether to buy Black Ops or not. I don't want to buy it if GT5 is released in Dec because it isn't worth paying £45 for a game I would only play for a few weeks. However if GT5 was 2011 then I would definitively buy it.

Before anyone says, I couldn't play both because GT5 is going to be such an enormous, time consuming game there isn't enough gaming hrs in the day. Also I wouldn't want to play Black Ops when GT5 is released.

I wonder what trade in price I would get for Black Ops if I traded it in early Dec? Anyone know the trade in price for games that are just a few weeks old?

Black Ops is not so good to be honest, was playing the full game earlier.

Seemed lame, graphics were really poor to be honest. Guns looks weird!

You should just buy Black ops because no one has any idea when GT5 is coming out. To answer your other question, you would probably get about $25.00 if you traded in BO in December.
To be honest, its already November with no release date in sight. Just get BO. You have to expect GT5 to get pushed to 2011. If not then thats ok but you really have to expect it.

Thinking about getting a wheel... Given it's only 70 bucks + pp AND the aussie dollar is currently worth more than a US dollar...

But, the DFGT doesn't have a clutch. Is that a major concern? i.e. will I regret getting it in a while, does it make much difference?

And 2ndly, the paddle shifters.. are buttons. Anyone find this to be a problem or does it feel fine?

I quite like the DFGT's "paddles". Not what you'd find in a Ferrari, mind you, but I have no beef with them.

What utter.....

I'm sure a very large number of people know exactly when it is coming out.

Let's see,

All the Sony execs and marketing folks - ah yes, they're just sitting around in their office suites right now - "Well boys and girls, the game's gone gold, the Bds are coming along nicely, what shall we do with it now, then?"

And of course, their downstream supply chain will be totally clueless - well we know this game is coming out, but we've got no idea when the stock will be turning up (even though some is already reported to be in transit...)

Look, as incompetent as Sony might look to the rather partisan folks on here, they will have a very detailed programme for what happens when, and where - because for if no other reason, it's just not possible to organise things "on the hoof".

Release date announcement - will be carefully timed for PR exposure.

Today - possible, but might get drowned out by Black Ops
Tomorrow - definately a day to avoid
Wednesday / Thursday - would divert some attention from Kinect, but you wouldn't want to announce before MS for fear that their message would resonate (longer) in preference to your own. Thursday / Friday would have the net buzzing over the w/e...

^ No need to get so defensive. No one ON THIS SITE knows when GT5 is coming out. His question was directed at the members ON THIS SITE.

Honestly, unless the news about GT5 disks being shipped was a hoax, how probable would a 2011 release be? If Sony sent half a million copies of to France, I consider it nigh impossible to not have a 2010 launch, really.

Fair do's... didn't mean to come over as aggresive :)

... but, in my opinion, we do know have a pretty good idea when it is coming out. (ETA - and the original Q was GT5 vs BO pre-xmas purchase)

We don't know a fixed date, but all the indications, and their stated intentions, are that Sony are doing everything they can to hit the Xmas market.

This thing isn't sitting around waiting for a vague 2011 release date. Even w/b 13/12 is getting very late for the Xmas shopping market.

When it went gold, it seemed to me that Sony could have everything in place for a November 21st launch (at the best - given the date of the delay announcement and gap between their original production slot and Nov 02 release date).

The week of 30th Nov - 3rd Dec has to be a good bet. (right after pay day as well...)

The question is, if where into late November, early December and still no release date has been announced, are people really going to believe in a Christmas release. There probably is a point of no return sometime in this month, maybe middle to late November. If the game really is in production then we should here from Sony soon. My guess if no announcement by late Novemver it will push back into 2011.

ATTENTION,

Can we curb the delay talk for a second and have everybody jump over to the News thread, please? There's a surprise in there for you! ;)

It's actually out there, for real. No photoshop, no faking the controller movements to a video...the real deal.

We've said it all along, but it WILL be out in 2010. This is proof.

shoddy recorded audio quality aside.... that miata sounds pretty damn good... especially the downshift at 1:15

Video quality was so poor, I can't make anything out of it...?

The cars that I recognised have all appeared in GT4 / GT PSP. Was there anything GT5 specific on show?

ETA - and nowt on the News page...

ETA2 - The do appear to be skid marks for the first slide off the track...

Anyone know the track in the vid?

If we all post comments on his YouTube we may be able to get him to post up a list of tracks

Exactly. The other thing to consider is that Japan will sometimes get a game a month before we do. So if they are actually focusing on a 2010 release date, that could be for Japan. Not the US. Something to consider. If we dont hear anything about another official release date by the end of November, then GT5 will indeed be pushed to 2011. Thats why it will be very surprising to see this released in the US this year. People that are expecting this game in 2010 really have their expectations way too high.

"It's confirmed! After the grueling saga concerning the release of Gran Turismo 5, we finally managed to get their hands on official dates out.

In the U.S. it plans to sell 27 November 2010, presumably for Black Friday, or pre-Christmas purchases. While in Italy have received official confirmation from the chains Rush Game and Gamestop that the sale of Gran Turismo 5 is scheduled for November 30, 2010. Ladies and gentleman, start your engine!"

That date for the U.S. can't be correct because that is a Friday. Games never release on that date and pre-orders from online retailers won't get the game on friday because it is a holiday the day before. Nothing is going to ship out that day.

The 23rd or 30th is a more likely date.

Although it would be interesting that Sony would sell this game on Black Friday. I highly doubt in my opinion that Sony would do such a thing. I am just glad that we are getting closer to the final time period in which this game will be released.

Those dates seem mixed up. November 30th is a Tues which is normally the release day for the US. Here in the UK its a friday although not exclusively as Black Ops is released tomorrow.

Im going to stick with my prediction I made a month ago via a process of elimination.

Possible dates are:

23rd Nov US/26th Nov UK.

Or

30th Nov US/Dec 3rd UK.

Anyways, I think it's save to assume that the 'on or around 30th November' bit was absolutely legit... Which is good news.

Well tomorrow is that big NYC Playstation event. Hopefully they'll have some good news for us since they have a spot where a bunch of GT5 setups are. There's a thread floating somewhere about it.
