Damn! I really wanted Spa. :(

Anyways can't wait for this little teaser of things to come.

People really expected them to show off stuff from GT5? I always assumed that academy would be built right off the back of GT5P. I'm just glad to have it soon.

It is a GT5 build, just without the damage.

There's no improvement in sound.(and kazunori said this will be one of the areas with major overhaul!)

Compare this:

With this:

Turn the volume up, there is definite sound improvement.

In my view, and I suppose others might see it like this as well, this is a demo for two purposes only, and that is GT academy on one hand and the new physics on the other. It's painfully obvious that they scaled down all the trackside objects, trees, crowd etc.

There's no special effects(advanced blur,smoke,skidmarks,debris etc).
There's no damage.
You get the point, only physics and time trial is important here and my guess is, it is done like this as not to spoil the wow effect when we finally get the full version of the game! :)

I agree. Except it may not even be a showcase for the physics but they had no option, other than using older physics models but I don't really see that as an option here tbh.

Today 7:07 AM deadboy1975 :
upgrading my PS3 HD tonight, ready to play this bad boy. roll on the 17th.

Gonna be interesting to see how quickly the posted times tumble (and how different the phyiscs will be over gt5p and gtpsp)

Same here! I will be taking out the 80G and crammin a 500G :scared: into the PS3 tonight after work. I will be set for two years of racing on GT5 with no interruption and time wasting backing up things. ;)

but reluctantly updating the system to 3.10 :ouch: 👎

PS: i dont know why you guys are complaining about the sound in GT5-P... i find it very good ! Nothing wrong with it from my point of view...
I find your complains "Meh" and not really justified...

Just compare the cars to their real life counterparts and you will understand, especially the M3 and IS-F.

I think the sound has been improved too, at least on a "tuned Z". It has that certain "whine" sound that race cars have. Only way to tell is to see for ourselves when it releases. I'm curious to see how the sound is during replays. I think that is key in the "sound argument" because i think we are all more familiar with drive-by sounds rather than cockpit sounds.

No comparison. One is lifeless, the other is life-like 👍

Not really. The sound is definitely changed, but life-like? I don't think so. It doesn't really resemble that much the real 370 sound anyway. It just has more transmission whine added(that's not turbo you hear)...

I bet that account of his will receive 10,000+ friends requests. :p

Of course it doesnt rule it out.

You do get to drive in the demo. And of course they wanted it to be as small as possible. :dopey:
Why would they want that tho? 500MB [for at least some eye-candy] would make more sense IMO.

So you're upgrading for a 220MB demo?
so they give us prologue again?
Looks like it. :(

Those vids have very different qualities therefore it's really hard to say ... although I agree the Academy vid does sound slightly better, only that's the vid in lower quality lol... I think the sound samples are exactly the same as in Prologue, maybe a bit different mix-down, but again that's hard to say because of (low) quality in the vid. 👎

i think ISmokeGT was referring to the real life when he said life-like... :)
and GT5-P is lifeless (as far as sound is concerned)

i wish i have a M3 and IS-F at my disposition to prove myself wrong... :p

I noticed something in the German video, that annoyed me in GT5P already and apparently still isn't fixed:
when in dashboard view, you see the speedindicater (on the bottom of the screen) showing in km/h. The dashboard speedindicator is in miles/h, but indicates the km/h's, resulting in the needle to reach max. speed at something like 180 km/h...

I know it's silly to complain about this, but the perfectionists PD like to call themselves should have noticed this imo!!

There's no doubt that the transmission whine sound has improved the sound quality, but it is a tuned Z. I would like to hear some turbo, and by some, i mean a lot. :). And for the final game, with the various types of turbo's we can set our cars up with, i would expect various types of turbo/blow-off/flutter sounds, right?

I don't know what everyone else is looking at, but the newest video there everything looks damn good to me. 👍

And was the guy in that video using the D-Pad? His steering was really jumpy.

Turn the volume right up on both. You get a lot more roar/grunt in the demo besides the whine from the turbo and transmission.

Now that's a descent video!
How weird, those German screens looked like crap 👎

And the sound has changed a bit, no more high pitch tire sounds, it sound more like scrubbing now. Defenately an improvement!

I told you so.
I guess they used a cheap SD capture card, that would also explain the video glitches.

The screen speedo is in Km/h and the Dash speedo is also in km/h. Japanese cars have 180km/h speedo limits in general (some exceptions, Nismo, GTR etc), the car modelled is clearly based of a Japanese model (as with many GT5P cars).

Nothing in Mph in that video.
