Gt5 is my favorite game for the ps3... However, I have a few frustrations

1. Freezing- (temp fixed by unplugging LAN)
2. Can't tell what cars r premium when u buy them new
3. Graphics r disappointing. (gameplay not replays)
4. Bad interface.

Btw, who cares what the reviews say- if u like the game play it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm extremely pleased with this game, It might not have reached my expectations, but it did come very close.

You can't expect this game to be perfect, there will always be room for improvement in present and future Gran Turismo titles.

Is no one else disappointed that you can earn lots of money in hardly anytime? And the computer is very easy to beat as the ai is so terrible. I just believe there's not a huge challenge on the game like there was on GT4. Disappointing more than anything after all this time in wait.

I criticized the game, but I have to admit, that the longer I play it the better it gets. The car handling model is awesome. Finally I can drive an RWD car almost the same way as in real life, which is a large improvement. However, it seems that they still didn't have enough time to finish the game and to give us a product made with the good old Japanese quality. It seems that the possibility to update everything makes game producers lazy.

To sum up all that I said: the game is great, and I don't see any other PS3 racing games (to meet my taste) at the moment that could compete with it. It's only a little sad that the game isn't as polished as some of us have expected.

Hmmm... There seems to be a lot of disgruntled gamers out there, and for once I don't vcount myself amongst them. GT5 was NEVER going to live up to the wild speculation that was rife here preceding the launch of the game. At times, it almost seemd like the talk was of some other game, not GT5.

I actually think that GT5 is superb. If you take a closer look at the important bit (tires on tarmac), you will see that this game is without equal. I've never played a game with such realistic physics, past GT games could be considered a joke by comparison, as could any other game on any other platform.

The UI is a little cluttered, though not as confusing as some would have you believe. Private lobbies are a welcome addition, but I have seen some hosts resorting to guerilla tactics to padd out they races. I couldn't find 'The Green Hell' anywhere, but in private lobbies, I don't know why that is... The campervans on the top gear track are fun, seriously! Gun it through bacharach, if you want first!

Now we see what worth add in the last year and a half (from the "official" date release in 2009) some features like (my opinion) meteo, damages, light change, kart, Nascar and, maybe, WRC. I say that, again, 'cause those features, at that time, aren't named; where is it the so much louding announced perfection? If they had gaved us other 200 premium cars, over those already in GT5, maybe at the half resolution (5 if standard = 0, premium = 10), all 1200 cars with view from the helmet, some more track and damages that modify performance and driveability, but not visible (to not overcharge graphic engine), i think we where all of us really happy; in GT6 (on PS4) they could put all other features, seen that (i think and hope) the graphic engine will be more powerfull. I thank very much for all this waiting that had bring us so much miraculous eye candy. There is one simple reason that is avoiding me to throw away this game through the window, like a fresbee, not the A.I., that is a little better than in GT4 and GT5 prologue, but still ridiculous, but the physic engine: it seems really improved and realistic, so it's worth go on playing. Now i hope that the Miracle Man, Yama San, had learned the lesson, but i don't think so; we'll see. Mirko.

Well, after one day of playing, I am in love. There are some issues, but this way better than an other GT in my opinion.

I spent 3-4 hours in the game before I opened GT Life.

First thing I noticed (after doing a burnout) - graphics of the car itself is abysmal during burnout - tyres and edge of car become completely pixelated...

Also, skid marks disappear...

But I'm yet to get into the game so there'll definitely be fun ahead

Anyone use 720p instead of 1080p?? i wonder if that can fix those graphics issues.

Hi, new to the forum.

Only played the game for 1 night so far...

Personally I think GT5's expectations were too high. I think that could be because of things like the videos/screenshots were only from premium cars and the game was talked about/posted about all over the internet too much before release about what the game was going to be like before we really knew. I think some things are being saved for future GT's on a console that can actually make use of the things that we think are missing from GT5, there is only so much a PS3 can handle.

My view is, only some of the standard cars should have been allowed through, because yes some of them look horrendous. And they should have gave you more choice on the likes of changing the wheels and brakes to personalise your car better, especially for when we race online.

But overall, I think its a cracking game, the best part (and whole point of GT) is the driving physics, they have done well with that!! as someone has already mentioned a RWD car drives like a RWD car. The more I play this game the more I want to play it.

Stand out positives:
Physics - miles from Prologue, the skilled drivers will love it
Karting - huge fun
Photo mode - stunning
Course maker -ensures the track count doesnt ever make you sad
Special events - huge challenging fun, more please
Nascar - didnt think the cars would be such a challenge to drive - awesome physics!
Painting rims and cars - awesome
Online - gonna be epic
Cape Ring - sweet
Weather/time - epic
Nurburgring and LeMans - revolutionary! feels like you're there - miles from GT4

Stand out negatives:

Premium car count - the standards look great but u know they're there to fill up the car count, they dont really belong. When you earn more credits you tend to always buy another premium.
Rims - cant fit to standards and the premium cars seem to have just 11 pre-selected rims to choose from( correct me if im wrong - they dont seem to cycle)
Machine test - where is it, was in all previous GTs
Tuning Parts - could have more options

Overall - magic game - cannot wait to go home

DLC soon it seems - hope to get machine test included

i was expecting something amazing but im disappointed, i will play on and finish the game as always, gt had depth 10 years ago but by todays standards its not gonna have me excited.

lack of cars, some stupid cars in it that dont belong there, much better variety of cars in forza, even porsches

i liked how in forza there were races and events run at certain times in the year/season, WHICH IS REALISTIC, but in gt5 you can do an even and re-do it again the next day THIS IS UNREALISTIC
forza had engine swaps, drivetrain swaps, and a million other things you could do with your car therefore it had so much more depth and longetivity.

lack of tracks- seattle and the night stage from gt1 are missed also el-capitain was an awesome track where is that?? hopefully they do something taht we can unlock them

the only reason i will play this is because i am biased and i always loved gran turismo

but this time i was expecting something mindblowing, just like polyphony have made it out to be!!! all it is is a polished up version of gt4 and a couple of tracks threw in, they have speant more time on the physics of the game and the gt mode has been kept the same which by todays standards is dull

you need to see a video of some guy standing on a podium at the end of a race, a world ranking system against real name drivers, taking part in events in a season rather than any time you like

BUT--IM SO GLAD YOU CANT REWIND WHEN YOU CRASH

Hi everybody, my first post! - I have been lurking in the shadows :)

I got GT5 on Tuesday night, I was going to wait until Wednesday but on Tuesday evening I was overcome with excitement so I headed over to a midnight release in Sheffield (UK).

After reading all of the fuss on the web, I was also apprehensive. I was never really into GT until I got a DFGT for GT5P (that's when I realised what I had been missing).

First Impressions? Incredible.

I was concerned about the whole standard/premium issue so to break myself in, the first and only car I bought was the standard Mini 1.3i. I have spent probably over a hundred thousand credits on it! I love the thing. I even like roof cam, it's brilliant for rallying.

The Mini sounds very close to its rally counterpart and handles just like I expected (a little under-steer, but slam that throttle down and it drags itself around corners like a little beast!).

Maybe I'm quite forgiving, but I really enjoy the whole quirky feel of the menu's, they remind me of being a kid playing on older gen games.

Above everything though, the racing feels fantastic and that is what I hoped for the most.

GT5 isn't coming out of my ps3 for a long, long time :D

I am annoyed at Yamauchi San for one thing - my eyes are practically shut today as I just couldn't stop racing last night. At 2am I decided enough was enough as my border collie doesn't forget that she gets a walk at 6:30am every day! So forgive me my rambling, it's only coffee and the thought of more GT at home that's spurring me through the day.

Looking forward to seeing some of you guys online :D

Im kinda disappointed that the game's biggest flaw is still there. The AI cars that you race against still just race a line on the track instead of racing you. A lot of the time, if you are in their line that will just grind you side by side slowing both cars down instead of recognizing that you have the line and they need to lay off. Im having a hard time winning the VW van race because of this aspect.

Racing experience is awesome in the areas of how cars sound, feel, and drive. But terrible based on the AI's driving methods. Its bring this game down in the 8s out of 10.

Dont really care for the NASCAR experience either. IMO, they have done this quite wrong. And not allowing you to set you car up for the special events is killing. Cars are so loose and steering is way to damn touchy to be staying between some cones and the wall.

Im thinking that maybe a steering wheel controller set up may help, but I doubt it. I just dont think that a lot of the gold trophy goals in this game are achievable with a controller.

Does the game have options on the steering sensitivity???

My first impressions are that GT5 is going to last me a very long time. It's brilliant. There are many negatives but in the grand scheme of things the driving (with DFP) feels so right that one a race or time trial starts they all go to the back of my mind.

I'll start off with the negative, first off the graphics, they aren't as bad as some people are making out in this thread but they are not as good as I expected them to be. The shadows are jagged but it doesn't both me too much. The standard cars look bad when you stop and compare them to premiums, but during a race the only standout way to tell is that they have darker windows. you might notice the odd thing from time to time but it's generally not very noticable while your racing. The loading times can be quite long and it does freeze for a min or two on occasion but the freezing is a network issue and if your not playing online you can solve that by disconnecting your network connection. I imagine the freezing will be sorted out soon. They're the biggest negaatives I've noticed so far, but the positives far outweight these.

The first thing I noticed was a huge imrovment from GT5:P was the sound, the cars sound so much better now than in GT5:P. The engines hit deeper notes and there's a much better feeling of the engines power coming through the speakers. This is a huge improvment imo from past GT games. Body mods are improved, in GT4 we got a rear wing and an invisible front spoiler, this is still there for the standard cars but most of the premiium cars have more in depth body modifications from new front bumpers, splitters, cannards and rear wings. The choice per car is sometimes limited, but there are options to add body kits to most cars.

The second thing I noticed but of more importance to the sounds imo are the physics, I would say they are brilliant but I don't think that does them justice. I can imagine this game being hard with a pad but with a wheel it's absolutely glorious regardless of it your driving a standard or premum car, the cars drive just how you'd want them to and expect them to in real life. It's an improvment from GT5:P, theres more feedback from the wheel too. PD have nailed the driving physics and it shows. If I was to compare it to a PS2 driving game Id' say it feels like a better, more advanced Enthusia to drive. There are notable differences between each car and different driving disciplines require very different approaches to how you drive the car. Driving the karts is vastly different to driving any of the cars, even the small Japense Kei cars, Karting is a blast as well. The Nascar racers sound thunderous and rattle and shake like you would expect, they feel powerful and heavy and you can feel them dancing over the surface of the track as though they're on the edge of loosing control, driving in a pack at 200mph can get pretty intense. I haven't tried any of the off road and rally races yet but if what I've experience so far is anything to go by they should be excelent affairs.

There's hundereds of songs to choose from on the game disk as well as the ability to import your own playlists into the game. The menu music is typical Gran Turismo which love it or hate it is a good thing imo. I haven't raced off road, in the rain yet or through a day/night cylce but everything I've seen and done so far is fantastic and there's no reason to doubt that those will be too. GT5 is not without it's flaws, most of them are graphically, but I can honestly say that during the heat of a race (short of over powering the opposition with a much better car and ending up driving miles ahead by yourself) that it's not that noticable.

My impressions, the negative first, the wheel feedback (G25) is not as improved as I'd hoped over Prologue. iRacing is the standard I'd measure it by and it just doesn't feel *as* good, but this might just be due to the type of cars involved, and there's no question it's massively better than Prologue. When switching to a kart I was impressed with the wheel, it tightens right up and in this case I have exposure in the real world to compare it with, and it felt *exactly* like driving a real kart.

The positive, I love it! It looks amazing, it sounds amazing. The network was a little sketchy but I got into a lounge with a bunch of friends, we spent hours karting in free run and then run a race, switch to a new track and repeat. It was terrific fun.

The online functionality looks exceptional, there was no lag that we saw at any point, this was universally said and we had up to 10 people at times. Spectator mode is terrific fun to kick back and take a break. Voice chat is crystal clear. I genuinely think this is a very solid online mode. I only wish you could earn some cash doing so, hopefully they will add a way to do so in the future.

A-spec was great, AI is much improved though it's not always easy to go into the race with a fair car. Just getting started with this so a long ways to go.

B-spec, I actually think is kind of cool, again for when you just want to kick back. It's a good way to earn cash as well, and I now may see the value to this GT-anywhere play from your PC stuff which originally sounded kind of a waste of time. I suspect we'll soon be able to B-spec and rack of money when we should be at work. :)

Overall thrilled, can't wait to get back into it tonight.

Wishlist: fairly easy things to remedy perhaps, rewind/fast-forward in replays, some way to export a video and get it online, a way to earn cash from your races online. That's about it.

Ok. So I can now tell you guys that even though I was disappointed in the beginning, I am now starting to get hooked to GT5 XD. Hopefully those updates over the next few weeks and months eventually clean up the game.

I love the game :)

Only thing that is bad on some cars are the sounds. Like even 2011 2.5l STI boxer subaru sounds like normal tiny inline 4.
Also it would be nice to arrange all cars to same folder in garage. I do not like that I have to quess if car is premium or standard when I browse for specific car.

YAMA PATCH THIS GAME, QUICKLY!!!!

the game has not satisfied, this is priority:

.private room with password + possible to send invite also to driver not in PSN friend + Only the host can start the race!
.resolve freeze problem!!!
.where is brake upgrade?
.cockpit noise vibration when go high speed
.review the collision system in physics and sound
.engine sounds are poor and very similar. Es: Prologue F430 engine sound >>>>>>> GT5 F430 engine sound

other??

bye

Silver

Man, go-karts are so much fun!

Nascar looks and sounds amazing.

So glad you can muck around and do decent burnouts as well. Nascar burnouts...amazing.

This game is a MAYOR let down for me! I'm not gonna say it's a piece of shi*,but is is NOT what i expected. This is just GT4 with ''HD''(well lets say better) graphics.Very poor online! They only had 2 years to test with GT5P,but i guess that wasn't enough! 6/10 just because it's GT.

Im loving the game at the moment. Really feeling the sort of 'rpg' element to it. Im taking my time with the game, still figuring things out.

Im currently in love with my two favourite cars: Toyota FT-86 Concept (love the rims) and the Toyota FT-86 G sport version (its got a nice blue/purple pearlescent paint job and the twin centre exhaust does it for me) just trying to tune them both but my wallet is abit tight at the moment.

My two drivers Mr Acosta and Mr Senna are improving alot (at first i thought i actually had Ayrton Senna as my b spec driver!), helps when my gf is craving attention and my hands are tied.

My internet is sooo sloooww so you probably wont see me in the online races but im hoping i can spectate (havent tried to yet).

I have now developed an obsession where my cars must be in pearly white with black rims and carbon fibre bonnet/hood. Im not too keen on the aero parts that I have seen so far but I guess I will see some better ones later.

Peace.

They have seperate folders in the garage for premium and standard cars. I think all used cars are standard. Unless you're referring to something else?

I love GT5. I was worried after hearing all the negative feedback, but I was very impressed. The tracks and cars are simply beautiful. The feel of driving is spot on. The sound could be improved, but it too is better than GT5P

I skipped GT4 and was thrilled to race on Deep Forest and Trial Mountain again. I forgot how much I loved those tracks. It's a breath of fresh air seeing them in glorious HD. Now I know why I dislike Fuji and Suzuki. The tracks on GT5P don't hold a candle to these ones.

I was surprised how much I liked Kart and Nascar. These are both going to be a hoot. I can tell I'm going to need a 900degree wheel for Nascar.

So far color me impressed

I am very dissappointed with GT5. If this took them 7 years..... well!
-loading times are insane!
-The carlist is a joke! Who needs 4 different versions of a toyota Vizz? This game has its core customers in europe. You can play a R8 in premium but the R8 LMS GT3 car is only standart?
-There are way to many sub menues. GT4 was so staight forward
-Major let down for me!
