Speaking of unpowered glasses: has any one gotten a chance to try the new vizio tv that uses the same glasses as the movie theatres? I looked at one briefly on black friday but the stores were crazy.

yes me. I just posted about it a few posts above yours.

passive 3d= unpowered glasses

I have played gt5 both on active powered glasses and passive non powered. the active 3d flickers on off each eye to get a 3d effect so its ****. i noticed the flickering and could not stand it. the passive one was much better and brighter and completely smooth and flicker free.

also to the Guy who said he will wait till one day they make 3d with just glasses without batteries it us called passive 3d and it has been out for years though they only starting making a lot of models in the past year

Excellent. Reading comprehension before coffee is bad for me ;)

I have a passive 3DTV (minimal crosstalk), and have spend about week to fully test and fine tune it. So ask me what you want to know. It's not a simple question. By now all I can say is - wait for GT6 with PS4 to play it at full resolution, at 60 FPS and without tearing. About technology itself - very impressive on GT5, but it cause many problems (performance, fine-tuning). Its such crap that PD didn't included a 3D test image as all new 3D games. And you need separate settings for cockpit (killer in 3D) and chase cam.

well you say it doesn't take much to add 3D but if I remember correctly the creator himself said that GT5 was made from the ground up in 3D so I am assuming it took along to make it happen and I still think it was a total waste of time and effort that could have gone into other aspects of the game.

In order to make a game/movie in 3d, you need to have 2 cameras. While it is extremely pricey and complicated for ''real'' movies, when it comes anything which uses animated models, they simply have to put a second virtual camera next to the first one, it real doesn't take much time and effort. AFAIK, the effort in programming isn't even worth 1% of the effort to program a car in the game.
