I think Sony isn't going to announce a release date at all. They are deliberately giving us clues to keep us busy till the game is actually in the stores, preventing them from making another (and that time selfdestructing) fail.
Think about it, the sonystyle website, the gold announcement, the Madrid launch event. All signals of an end nov. or early dec. release. It's impossible that Sony themselves don't know the release date by now, they're just not telling us.

Well, it looks like we may be looking at the 30th in the States, and the 1st in EU and Japan. Then I guess the Brits will get it that Friday. :)

(If the dates are accurate for Madrid)
 
I'd personally like AT LEAST 1 week heads-up. Wife's always planning things so I don't want to pull a "sick day" if the game happens to be out when she's planning her next wacky trip. Other than that, a surprise would be nice.

You just go to your local store to pick up some random crap, saunter over to the video game section, and BAM!! There it is. It would be an amazing feeling but you'd also feel betrayed a little bit :)

Sony definitely isn't going to stealth launch GT5. It's the game they've been waiting for all generation. Once they announce the date I think that they're going to open the flood gates on the marketing. It's their system seller even though we're several years into this generation. GT is simply a game that people that appeals to people that don't play other games, so they'll be picking up a PS3 for it. So Sony will definitely make sure that they know it's coming out and when it's coming out.

Ooh. I may go and pre order with them as they are selling it for £39.99. I currently have it on Pre order with Gamestation but they won't kno how much they'll sell until they get it in stock. £45-£50 was mentioned as a possiblity when I order it. My cancel that Gamestation one.

nobody says stealth launching...
i think there PR is already running... (e.g. the plosh magzine today)

ther will do that "very soon in your PS3" PR and only very short notice give the release date....
because if there waiting 2 more weeks for the "release date" release, than most of people will think Yes!!!! only 1-2 weeks till the game is there..... and quickly forget that they are waiting already XX month for it....
 
You know, if you look at the eu and us playstation blogs, they all have blog entries with comments asking of GT5, the comments can be completely of topic, and I don't think this will stop until we actually have a release date, surely they will anounce it soon, oh and what actually happened during that V.I.P party at SEMA?
 
i dont need a release date...... currently the sign's saying so strong before X-mas....
i would be happy if there feed us with a few more details, Cars, tracks, options....

i dont mean the full list, a few appetizer.... Like the latest RS6 in the TG magazine

I agree that GT5 is an important systemseller. The only problem they have is that launching a huge marketingcampaign on forehand may not pay off, because people don't believe the game will actually come out on the stated date after all the **** ups.
If I was a marketing exec at Sony I would start a huge campaign when the game is already available, so you can say 'IN STORES NOW!'
This would at least explain the silence at the moment...

I will likely use it the most but will also use the cockpit cam a bit where I can and possibly the roof cam. Hood cam is a nice addition though. Glad to see it in there.
 
About the German guy saying the lack of German Software Rating Association rating for GT5 meant it wouldn't be out in at least 4 weeks... I'd say I'd find very strange and dirty to make the world premiere event in Europe (Madrid) and then release the game few days later in USA and Japan, and 3 weeks later in Europe...
 
I'll use hood for standards. Cockpit for premium.
 
I've been playing GT4 recently using the default view. I find now when I run prologue I don't switch to dash view like I always do

They didn't delay the announcement. Just the guy who does tweets for SCEA thought we would know the date by now. We pretty much all did.
