I'm sorry you don't find GT Academy very interesting. It is, however, directly related to Gran Turismo - GT5 moreso - and is thus news that we, a Gran Turismo fan site, should be bringing.

Of course you won't be downloading the GT Academy pack during May nor entering GT Academy, since you find it so bucket-scrapingly dull and I'm absolutely sure that, in the event you were to win this boring competition you won't be entering, you certainly wouldn't want anyone in the GT community being interested in how you're getting on or getting behind you and offering our unqualified support in your endeavours.

After all, that'd be boring.

Honestly? Quite.

Well, since he's not entering, yes. It'd look a bit silly posting up GT news about what someone who isn't a GT Academy winner is doing this weekend.

Complaining, probably.

Game.Set.Match for Famine.

Off topic: the amount of sarcasm within that post was wicked, Famine.

On Topic: Can Canada compete this time around?

At the moment it doesn't look like it, sadly.

I was going to mention something about passports, but that would be wrong since the finals are in England.

I'm not sure why Canadians are left out of it.

Better not be being sarcastic... yay a new Gt academy post!!!! because that's why we all read this site!!!!
Now as for the DLC, were did Kaz. say we were getting DLC and it was postponed? What I saw get postponed was the photostreem was not DLC.

I obviously don't know about this specifically but from other competitions and events similar to this Canada has very strict competition rules and laws regarding worldwide events which means they're usually left out.

Anybody else see that Nissan Leaf GT Academy edition? (In the new GT Academy video)

That could be the reason then.

Ha, how bizarre. And somewhat sucky.

Might it be possible that any update they had planned for March was delayed so they could get the GT Academy program sorted and finalized first?

Now that it's been announced, maybe, just maybe, some news on an update and any related info might be announced in the next couple weeks.

That GT Academy "downloadable content", what is that? Just the same cars with GT Academy stickers on them? I'm confused on what the article meant.

No no no, GT Academy is starting once again, the contest, not really anything to do with the core GT5 game, at least as far as we know at the moment.

Is it safe to say that we won't see any DLC while GT Academy is on? My nationality prevents me from entering and I'm thinking about giving the game a pause. I'm let down by the fact that I can't participate (expected though) but some DLC could compensate. GT5 will probably feel like a cold and isolated place while almost everyone else is focused on the academy.

Though you can't participate, you can still download the game and play it, if I'm not mistaken. Two years ago (or was it three?), there was another demo that could be downloaded for all regions, if I'm not mistaken. That means that you'll essentially be getting a GT game for free! Not to mention the GT Academy Nissan LEAF, which I assume will make it into GT5. 👍

Is it just me or is the GT-R in the GT Academy video at 0:34 a 2012 model?

It is the 2012 model. Nice catch.

I could participate the last time there was a downloadable GT Academy. It also served as a demo to GT5 by introducing Indianapolis etc. It had widespread appeal. However, this new one seems completely pointless to players who can't participate and already own GT5. Would be nice though if they include a new track which will make it to GT5 as DLC once the competition is over.

Definitely no new tracks, but I do see a new car, the GT Academy Nissan LEAF.

You never know...maybe they didn't show I all. :sly:

The GT Academy 2012 news sounds great (except my country among others is excluded), my hope is we still get GT5 DLC without waiting another few months.

I highly doubt they showed it all off.

Well in GT5's news (within the game) it shows pics for:

High speed ring
London
SSR5
Tokyo R246

How much more could be left...

However I do notice there is 5 rounds and that might mean 1 track hasn't been shown off yet.

I can't wait until i get my hands on this magnificent beast with "GT5 academy DLC pack 4", this was sure worth the long wait!

You see all you impatient people saying kaz was going to include another GTR! He answered our prayers, listened to his fanbase and will grant us the nissan leaf!

Who needs "the other game" now, with their boring monthly DLC... HA game set and match!

Thanks a bunch PD 👍

I bet this is exactly what will happen.

If you remember the second GT Academy, the qualifier was a free, standalone, downloadable application that contained Indianapolis Road Course, a Nissan 370Z GT Academy Road Car and a Nissan 370Z GT Academy Tuned Car. The qualifier was simply your aggregate time on one lap in each car.

This GT Academy shares aspects of that - it's a free, standalone, downloadable application, containing tracks and cars. However the qualifiers this time seem to be a number of challenges at various tracks in those cars.

While I can't say that there will be no reward in GT5 for downloading and participating in those challenges (which those who find GT Academy boring won't be doing), it is a standalone application that doesn't require GT5 to run and, as such, you should not expect anything in GT5 for doing so.
