Spagetti69There's a Disturbing lack of maintenance going on.
What gives?
For me to become interested in the inclusion of a new car, it has to offer something that is not offered already, which isn't easy.
analogAhem..
Just a few random examples to show it's fairly easy to come up with types of cars not included yet which in my opinion would add something really different.
I could go on forever.
Seems like you already did, agree mostly with your points though even though it's probably a lot easier to just drop in a few more cars.
GT6 could have 100% Japanese cars only and it would still be a defining racing game of it's time. A car list or what types of car it has is not what makes Gran Turismo rise or fall.
In fact if it had 0% cars of any country of origin, and they were all made up unlicensed custom cars GT would still be a genre defining racing sim, and a world wide best seller.

No it is not. PD says that modeller has to work months on a car to make in the game. That is just ridiculous.
Absolutely.
I already had a similar type of debate with Earth on that matter. Adding any of new LeMans models - as he was critical about that point for example - adds no true value to the game itself.
But adding pre-war model for example does.
Also, having "mainstream-attractive" car list does not make a better game. However, new features, unique details and small things that GT delivers in one package does.
GT series will not get any additional value with MP12-4LM or 2012 SL65. But it would get new value with 5 new locations for the Course Maker, point-to-point Course Maker with online integration, re-introduction of the Original Courses from previous GT games including rally ones, re-introductin of the Photo Locations from GT4 and GT5rologue menus, ability to change oil in the Pit Area, B-Spec online real-time multiplayer, return of the official matchmaking, inclusion of partial Leaderboards, introduction of female drivers as avatar figures with proper suits, introduction of the Paint Shop concept, having original Test Track being included in the Speed Test Area, ability to erase Time Trial results, ability to have sorting for tuned/non-tuned cars in Time Trial, re-introduction of Time Trial results showcase as in GT2, introduction of proper in-race info on the already existing driver-list on the right side of the HUD (with basic time-gap info, lap-time info and pit-entry icon in real-time), to get ability to turn HUD in partial steps on dedicated button, to get Event Generator in veins of the GT PSP Race Mode (that was damn brilliant one), to get Diagnostic Area in the GT Auto with introduction of scalable chassis/engine wear that would give us information of stet-of-wear for particular vehicle so we can decide better when is the right time to run the Refresh, to introduce a post-race celebration sequences with drivers in gears, to allow posing of group of drivers in front of their cars for MP online, to introduce Team Racing as an option for online, etc, etc, etc.. I could go on forever.
Those are improvements. Those are things that can make a game better. Not another car in game that already have 1074 cars (and probably even more incoming).
No. Some people don't know how much impact a car list can have. Maybe GT6 should have only 5 cars. We will see how good it sells
If you offer hundreds of cars from different countries the audience is bigger.
GT had no competition on console and is a good product with a huge carlist. That was the reason for the huge success.

I think I found a solution to the music dilemma. At the Hone screen, I went into Music, Library tab, hit & held L1 to select all, then Square for Menu, then shut it off for both menu & race.
have you guys read the in-game credits? my god, 60% of PD's workforce goes to car modeling, one guy is responsible for physics, YES, 1 guy, 2 guys work on AI, 2 guys work on something called "sound simulation", its ridiculous and this has to stop, i dont care if a premium model has loads of ploygons, just give a model that looks good and stop the nonesense, give me an interior that works and look similar to the real life, dont give me 100% replicated BS, and ridiculous modeling of stitches on the wheel, give me better AI, better sound and physics, and save that ridiculous effort and time modeling a premium car
Completely agree and I don't know if you realised but Kaz actually said you were spot on with that percentage. 60% of the entire dev time on GT5 went on car modelling. Based on the final product surely anyone must agree that is completely wrong.
and if only 30% was dedicated to car modelling, you would be happy with just ~100 premium cars?
Eh? A lively feel to what?

USARMYCOMBATVETAlso, a few weeks ago, GT5 home screen news feed mentioned that if music wasn't playing it was due to incompatibility with GT5.
You can read the entire news article at this link:

No it wouldn't work like that, I'm not saying they should have modeled them to the same standard but only spent half the time on them, I'm saying they should have spent less time on them by not modelling them to such insane levels of detail. They simply don't have the staff numbers to afford to do that.
While I agree PD doesn't have enough staff, it's better to have the cars modeled like this, because they are now ready for future games with minimal changes. If they modeled them to a lower standard, not only would they be at a disadvantage compared to other games, they would also have to rework the 200+ cars for future games. But this way, those cars are pretty much ready for the next game(s).
Either way, PD definitely needs to hire more people.
