... three nights a week. Casual track days on most Sundays

We ran a 9hr enduro at HSR-R, last Sunday. The 15th of August, we do 12hrs at Suzuka. 3-5 drivers per car. Pit stops and driver changes. All kinds of fun, and all because I've made good friends with a lot of clean, fair, sim racers. It scares me to think what we'll do with full online controls.:dopey:

How do you do races online that are that long?

How do you do races online that are that long?

We run race after race, re-sorting the grid to reflect the finishing order of the previous race, taking advantage of the fact that lowest PP starts first. We set a start and finish time, and get in as many races as we can in that time.

Right now, to keep score, we record the finish position, and add them up at the end. Lowest score wins. This time, I'm going to try collecting each racer's completion time to achieve more accurate results. :)

Offline is a video game. This is sim racing. This is how we roll...

...and who says small cars aren't any fun?

Ok now, WE WANT NAMES! :irked:

Mine is "CtznOfTime"

It's actually really, really easy to find them in Prologue. Have a good race with someone? Message them. I'm still coming to terms with how easy some things are with the current generation of systems, the fact I get a(n incomplete) list of the people I race is pretty handy.

Plus, around here, even without private lobbies, it's as easy as popping into the Prologue board and seeing what times people are joining events in each event's respective thread. Join at those times and you're sure to see a GTP member or two.

Yea slip I have had great races with people and message them to continue.👍

So what does this porsche sign mean now in this scans??

Somebody already translated the magazine?

It says No Porshe

Ok sorry, just seen the translation on page 1115...

So it looks like another speculation article to me... nothing new and maybe that kart and track editor thing is only written because of the info we get last month...

You should race with a few of us some nights. I bumped into a friendly group who pop in around these parts but do their own more casual meets almost every night at some of the Pro races. Nothing beats a full grid of similarly-skilled drivers, and it's made Prologue something I want to play regularly, because if I was left to constant randoms, I'd probably already be tired of the game.

nice. The Red, White and Blue thing is a little BLAH, but oh well.

I made out two of them, which appear to be "Driver" (The person your watching) and "Position". The other two I'm still trying to figure out.

Thanks, wasn't sure if that was what they said so I didn't want to look like an idiot but that makes it clear. Can't help but wonder what Auto would be for though. Course probably reffers to the cameras on the track.

I'm starting to get worried about the game

There seems to be something off with the physics... every little touch and you spin like crazy

I think I've seen every video posted on Youtubue of Gran Turismo 5 since GamesCom last year and I don't think I've seen even one person who could control the car and drive properly without crashing and spinning

Now, obviously it could be that most of them never played Gran Turismo 5 or don't even have a driving license but among all those people there must been some people who play Gran Turismo and have a driving license

We even saw some videos of professional drivers who couldn't drive

Auto would probably cycle through all the cameras; driver, fixed cameras on the course, cameras following certain cars (and switching cars), and so on - Course definitely sounds like fixed camera positions. Always missed that in gt5p, you could only watch one car in a race replay, rather than the whole race.

The online lobby is looking pretty damn good 👍

It is quite a different experience driving a car without feeling the g forces. It makes it a lot harder to know the limits and so people will turn the wheel way too much or accelerate too violently.

...or just not brake at all for the corners :dunce:

99% of the videos I've seen are of people who really don't know how to drive. Take this video, the player doesn't even touch the brake for the first corner :lol:

At least all this bad driving probably unwittingly shows us more about the physics than when we only had footage of the cars being driven smoothly.
I remember a car journalist once saying that when he road tested a new car he deliberately chose to adopt a bad driving style to truly find out whether a car handled good and had a well designed and balanced chassis, by which he meant that any car ( even a bad one ) could be driven smoothly by a good driver.
Maybe these "noobs" do serve a purpose as unaware guinea pigs to showcase the unforgiving elements of the new physics and damage engine.:)

True, although I doubt they slammed the cars into barriers at 140mph...

The videos do show the tyre smoke, damage, AI avoidance etc fairly well though 👍
