I've not paid much attention to the intro movie to tell the truth. Just a quick glance to check if there were new tracks - none that I noticed.

So it looks like San Galgano abbey location will host some sort of event in the grand tour too?

Edit: and the Piazza in San Gimignano, which is also Toscana's representative town.

San Galano might well be the other Toscana-like course maker style with the greener landscape.

The other town in that map must be San Gimignano, also in Tuscany.

Grand Canyon Mini does not exist. Forward, reverse, end.

There was a Gran Canyon Mini track in GT4P; it was only playable in the license tests - or using codes though...

Yep, it's a photo travel location so may or may also have a town rally/ kart track there, might just be the Toscana track which it seems to be on the doorstep of.

I know it was said that the Piazza del Campo was a Kart only track, but I've seen a Fiat 500 race there too. They're slower than Karts though...

So theres 29 venues and 87 variations.
Quick question, so is this only half the list? wasn't there something bout 70 unique tracks, with over 100 variations?

or is it over 20 locations with over 70 variaitions?

thanks

My guess is yes.
There are many "obvious" tracks that we haven't seen yet.

wasn't there something bout 70 unique tracks, with over 100 variations?
Yes, that's the conclusion by putting together all clues we've seen so far. But also our hope, since it's not a confirmed thing.

or is it over 20 locations with over 70 variaitions?
At this point I think we can safely assume that the 20 location /70 variations figures are incorrect/misleading for some reason.

Said it before but I think El Capitan and Ice Center from PSP promo footage may have been mistakenly put in that Red Bull trailer. I'd like to see El Capitan in there though.
I'm just bitter about the Eiger Long road course not being visible yet. The reported Long/East/West ones sound like they were provisional names for the dirt tracks.

I'm not too impressed with some of the new stuff. Cape Ring looks like something out of Forza with all the different configurations, and it lacks anything that defines character. Grand Valley has the hairpins and tunnels and the technical bits, Deep Forest has the section under the trees and the flip-flops across the back section. El Capitan has El Capitan. But all Cape Ring really has is that giant banked turn - and Autumn Ring already has a similar (albeit not banked, but banking isn't enough) bend. As for Special Stage Route 7, it doesn't look like it has any corners. I'm hoping it's a long stage, zoomed out so that the corners aren't really visible.

That said, the new Eiger circuits look epic.

I modified the list in order to show only tracks that we have seen in GT5 (Prologue, demos, etc) track selection screens or that we are absolutely 100% sure that are in. Personally I still think we will see an Eiger Nordwand - Long Track, though:

Can *any* track be raced with *any* weather conditions at *any* time (day/night/dawn/dusk)?

For example, will SSR5 be playable during the day? They've showed day/night transitions in merely seconds in some of the official videos.

I think it would be very strange if only certain tracks supported weather and only certain tracks had day/night cycles. Has anything on this been confirmed or seen in the latest videos?

Nothing has been additionally confirmed or seen in the latest videos than what we know.
We know that the time of the day is selectable for several tracks, but will not necessarily change dynamically. Same for weather.
Also we know that World (real) tracks will (should?) have weather and time synchronization with actual real life conditions.

I am happy again 👍
Did you say London long was confirmed somewhere? It could certainly do with a longer route.

It's a biggun, 7 miles plus in each direction. It does look pretty much flat out except the turning sections at each end, and there might be some technical stuff halfway in.
Edit: And the south end turning section itself seems to be about the length of the London track!

Long versions of London and Eiger were confirmed in old interviews (from 2007 just after Prologue was released). Eiger Nordwand Short Track is pretty much a giveaway that there will be a longer version. I think it could extend toward Wengernalp (using part of the K Trail) then go back to the short track we know someway.

Or it could end up being the track we've seen in the FT-86 video...

I think your K route picture solved the riddle of the short course only having one obvious junction.
The short course is the only road circuit in that complex, since the pitlane entrance was downgraded after GTHD it didn't look likely to be used as a section of race track. The long course might still exist but it won't connect to the other one (unless you can fit a two way lane through the station) Short track might only mean it's shorter than the Trails, but I hope not.

Kaz apparently said there will be a longer version, one with a pit lane.

I saw the video a few pages back. My first thought was "They spent disc space on this!?". It reminds me of the old AVUS circuit in Berline, though that's not a good thing. No doubt it will be popular with the drifting crowd, but I refuse to acknowledge that drifting is an actual sport. I doubt we'll see any changes to the final version, though the odd tyre chicane might be nice, if only to break up the monotony. I think my issue with it is that it's so bland - aside from the fireworks, there's nothing of interest going on.

Though I would like to see a video that invludes the southern loop.

Hm, well we've seen the pitlane layout for that course now so maybe that's all he meant.

Yeah the highway isn't as scenic as I was hoping despite the fireworks they've added to brighten it up, and if you don't like that you'll hate the tunnel that seems to take up most of the other end! Strange there's no spectators or anything. There have been some clips of parts that look more interesting, so I'll wait and see.

The SS7 resembles a highway or a bridge - it's a long straight. Great to max out some cars as far as speed goes. It has three corners or four to turn around. One of them is quite sharp and will require massive amounts of braking. I imagine how crazy it would be in real life, trying to set the best time possible, how many Gs our body would get from breaking early.

Well it isn't a circuit as such, it looks like Freeway for "street racing" and cruising.
No doubt people will get together online to cruise it and such, or even hold mock highway drag races

Plus the video quality is horrible but there is a cityscape in the background

It's the sort of track I see in a lot of Japanese car games back in the PS2 days

It fits with the "Tokyo Expressway road network" concept of Special Stage tracks. Wangan fans will love it. I love it too!
I wonder if there are more Routes to be unlocked...

You can see in the GT5 intro movie, why they included that track, modified JDM cars doing runs on it like this

Personally I think they got inspiration from the Wangansen section stretching from Honmoku junction to Kawasaki Ukishima junction, that is also featured in Shutokou Battle racing games. Of course, the Gran Turismo version is different, but the proportions, bridge location and the length are very similar, and so is North orientation.
