That is the last corner that he is driving on, I am referring to the road "headed towards the mountain". Like I said, it is probably nothing, but I figured I would throw it out there.

It is probably nothing, but I did notice another road in this picture. You'll see it headed towards the mountain.

In real, that is a walking path going towards the lower Gornegrath train station :)

I think it's the highlighted path here:

Since it appears to be part of the scenery it doesn't look like it will be used for racing in other track variations. Too bad.

The railroad is immediately south of the highlighted path in the photo I linked.
You can even see it in the GT5 screenshot (pay attention to the electric lines)

It looks like it could be the road or path just above your circle. There are some shadows under it that makes it look like it's a bridge going over some small valleys, as it is in the screenshot. If you extend the path in the screenshot to the left, it looks like it would run behind the buildings, as that road does.

There are some pictures from there on Google Maps' street view, but I can't find one from the same angle as the screenshot.

What's the name of GT5 track that's always being shown turning from day to night? The one that looks like it's in an open field.

People don't actually race on that at night do they?! That looks dangerous. There are no street lights or anything.
I know that Road Atlanta during th Petit Le Mans only has lights on a few turns, but nothing anywhere else. That low visibility due to only having your headlights to see by is part of what makes endurance racing such a tough sport.

I am not familiar enough with rally racing to know if they race at night or not, but I would imagine large races like Dakar or Baja may have some drivers completing sectors after dark.

There aren't any at the Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans either. Didn't stop those circuits from hosting famous 24h races.

And there are many night-time rally stages. No lights there either.

They do have WRC rally stages at night, that's why on those stages the cars have extra lights attached to the front.
And yes it's crazy, scary and probably unsafe as well but it does happen very frequently and is part of rallying in the present and past.

Yup. A decade ago and earlier, I think you'd have at least one night stage per rally event. However, nowadays they tend to have fewer and fewer night stages in WRC, I think this trend follows safety concerns.

EDIT: Checking the details, the only WRC special stages of this year that took place by night time were the "Super specials" (i.e. stages on a small eight-shaped closed loop, generally within a stadium, with floodlight). Other than that, only a few special stages from rally Sweden took place at dawn and sunset.

And examples of Le Mans races:

Sebring

Road Atlanta

And already known to be in GT5

Le Mans (Circuit de La Sarthe)

Nurburgring

So, yeah, it can be dangerous and difficult.

Personally, I can't wait. There will probably be a lot of cussing until I get used to it.

And to contrast: Daytona 24 at night is under lights.

I bet you'll do it even more when your racing in the rain while at night

Thing is, in real life, your eyes adjust to the darkness and become ultra sensitive, so your vision increases and the darkness seems lighter, I do wonder if this will be simulated to some extent, for example start the race, its pitch black except for track lights if any, then a few minutes in it brightens up a bit, so sort of mimic the night vision that we have.

Considering the glare effect they use coming out of tunnels, I wouldn't be surprised if they did this.

Either that, or during a dynamic change you should adjust naturally.

I don't know more than you do but I dare to say it won't be like that.

Just been on GTHD and noticed this on Eiger, not sure if it's been mentioned before.

It doesn't look like a texture to me, perhaps part of (or near to) the long track?

I think if anything, they could have visual effects that trigger your eyes to adjust naturally. Would seem too gimmicky to try and mimic it in-game, but would be some interesting stimulation for your Vision. And then to pull that same effect off in 3D may be cool too,(assuming its not sensory overload)

A clearer picture would help. Also what part of the track is that?
From the satellite map I think it's the road highlighted here (with the railroad just beside it):

Earlier in this thread I hypothesized something like this:

Sorry, I only have my phone to hand, but the same image is on the save replay screen, so you may be able to get a more detailed look. I couldn't say exactly where the new road is, but it does seem to come off of that road, and does 'point' to that area, it may be further up though. It seems to be a bit lighter than the other road, which could just be lighting, but also may mean it's just a pathway, but the fact that it's detailed so much in that area may show at least that there's track down there, if that makes sense.

This layout would make for some amazing tracks-imagine driving through the mountains on a sunny day or with rain or snow! Heaven :)
