Man this sounds like it will be a lot of fun, but I have to work this Thursday. I am sad to say I will have to sit this one out. :(

Sorry I havent been active on this thread, but Im still in for this event.

Will check PSN tonight.

If this post is irrelevant, please feel free to say so, but I always find it more fun when you know a little bit about the people you are sharing the track with every week. If this thing is well organized, then I can see the people that have signed up sticking around for further 'seasons' here. So, why not post a brief intro of yourself here. Just a couple of lines...nothing fancy. Here goes:

I'm 27, an Engineer based in Saskatchewan, Canada (Central Time Zone). Have been a huge fan of GT, but have only played the first game and now GT5 (never owned a PS2). I use a controller. If I could buy just one car in my life, and money was no object, I'd buy the Aston Martin Vanquish.

Can't wait for this thing to get started!

I am interested In the league... Psn is XR-42. I want to find some solid online racing... I have just been sticking to career mode because every time I try to find races online they are just super fast which is not much fun... I'm a seasoned GT player, And have been a part of other online racing leagues in the past... Let me know if you still need players, and if you find any good lobbies at night. Thanks

I will add you to my friends list and if anyone is not there at the start of qualifying I will send you an invite.

I'm 26, also an engineer, but out of Cincinnati, Ohio. I have been playing racing games since the original Gran Turismo on PS1. I played GT2, and GT3 on PS3, but moved over to Forza when it came out. Forza, at the time, was such an improvement over GT3 that it was ridiculous. I played Forza 2 and 3 a bit, but GT5 has really brought me back and, if they fix the AI and improve the online features, this will be the greatest racing game of all time.

I use the Logitech Driver Force Wireless. While not the ideal controller, it is much better than the gamepad.

My dream car is a Caterham R500. I want to dust Ferrari's but still look like a dork. :)

Nice.

I checked out your website. It looks good. I'll be tracking everyone's progress on there even when I'm away. Perhaps XR-42 can take over my spot for week 2 and 3 when I wont be around. I'll be back for week 4 and 5.

Hey guys one thing I forgot to mention. SPORTS TIRES ONLY. You can use hard, medium, or soft, but make sure they are SPORTS. I will update the OP accordingly.

Yeah in coming weeks I figure I can get everyone to verify their participation the day before and send out invites to others accordingly.

I would love to get in on these races. I am a huge GT fan and I play a lot of Forza 3 as well. I race with a really awesome group in forza but not many of the members have a PS3, so I am looking for a new group to race with in GT. If you get enough interest, maybe you could open a second room to allow for more people to compete. PSN- T-Money645

I'm a 35 yo teacher in the Boise, Idaho area. I'm a huge sports fan, baseball and basketball are my faves. I've enjoyed most of the GT series, having spent most of my time in GT (thought GT4 to be unweildy). I'm using this league to measure my skill level (not a big online player). This'll be fun, been looking forward to this all week...

See y'all later tonight!

I've been looking forward to this too. Played online a bit, but mostly just kart racing. Havent been practicing much though and Im not as familiar with R246 as I'd like (did my first few practice laps last night). Should be interesting!

Oh and I would also like to point out before this thing even starts that I do not have a mic. So, if I do something stupid on the track, it is 100% because I lost control and not because I am dirty, and I WILL apologize for my actions at the end of the race. If I had a mic, I would apologize right then and there!

Race hard, but race fair!

I'm a 29 yo danish guy. I study market economy, building web-sites, and owns/admin danskfifaliga.dk (which is the danish fifa online league, with about 250 participators) I'm a huge basketball- (Bulls) and soccerfan (FC Copenhagen og AS Roma)

I'll be driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR Premium Package '07, which i just bought today.

Battman23: Have you tried the set-up yet? As i see it, you can't set the limit to 350hk. It must bee 345hk or 355hk. Which will it be?

What about mechanical damage, will it be turned on?
Penalty, will it be set to strong?

And one more question :) Will all races be this short? (hope not ;) )

Got booted from the race, tried to reconnect but i get an error that states the network is offline...

Sad to see you go from the race, you did great..
I had the same problem, but I switched to cable instead, and that did it for me..

I'll add you other guys to my friends list and let you know if we need replacements.

OK, so the first race was a bit..... barren... lol. Looks like we only got 6 racers out there and rynedee and ppark ended up getting disconnected in the middle of the race. Oh well. SkylineR88 proceeded to lay waste to the field anyway. I was close behind CoachRostved most of the race until I screwed up the final hairpin on lap 8. Scuudz was... well I'm not sure where he was, but I did see that he was racing us. LOL. :)

Anyway standings and points are up on the website in my sig. I hope we have a better turnout next week.

Also, I would like to have an informal practice on Tuesday or Wednesday around the same time. Let me know if that works.

EDIT: ppark and rynedee get points for at least showing up. haha

EDIT: Also, I may end up taking away the bonus points for the fast lap because GT5, for some retarded reason, does not give a race recap after each race... GRRRR! Sometimes I wonder if Polyphony Digital has even heard of Forza Motorsport!

I knew it was a race for second after seeing I was 5 seconds back during qualifing... This might be a long season if Skyline continues to drive like that...

I think you can safely give Skyline the two-point bonus, he lapped Scuudz right at the end. If it were a 15 lap race he would've lapped the field.

I gave him the bonus for this race because it was completely obvious, but going forward it will be near impossible.

I ensure you I was racing LOL.

I am not up there with the best of the racers on here, but I had a bad race even by my standards. I was hoping to be somewhere in mid-field in a grid of 16. It looks like only the cream showed up lol

It didnt help that Im not a great tuner either. My Clio 316 hp and top speed of 135 mph was sliding all over the place and was blown out of the water. Oh well....4th place isnt too shabby! HAHA!

I'd be up for an informal session before Wednesday.

I dont show up in the race recap on your website?? LOL

Dont mean to be a pain but I was 4th....park and rynedee tied for 5th I guess? Also, based on my performance today, I dont think I will be close in the end, but what is the protocol for awarding points when a racer is disconnected? I wasnt close to winning and would have been 6th or 7th had everyone still been there till the end, but I did complete 9 and some laps of the race. It seems a little unfair that racers that completed half the race get just 0.5 points less than a car that was there till the end.

Again, I don't think it will make a difference either way because ryne and park are way better than me anyway, but its just a matter of fairness for the league.

Ryne and Park: Hope you guys dont mind me bringing this up. You guys are great drivers and it was good to share the track with you.

the DC was unfortunate, but I will plan to run a wired cable to my ps3 if it means buying a longer one. I'm going to do this not only for myself but to offer a more quality and competitive race to everyone here, even if it means that I were to loose really bad.

I really like the idea of this racing league thing and the whole point system. Reminds me of a time when I did this church bowling league and only won a small plastic trophy but it was fun.

I would like it if the point system was more like the new formula 1 point system. where the winner gets 25 then 18,15,12,10,8,6,4,2,1

Theres is more incentive to finish at first place. It gives hope to the guys that didn't do so great on some races making it a more competitive environment. Just food for thought.

Anyways I will see you guys next race.

I have updated the recap on the website. Sorry about that.

With the updated scoring they got 3.5 points each. I do want to give them something for at least showing up.

That sounds pretty good. I was basing the scoring off of the same scoring used in large track meets (I was a sprinter in college.) I will put a poll up and if a majority want to change I will do it.

Thanks for changing the recap Battman!

Giving them points for showing up is cool. Like I said, its not going to affect my placing at the end of the season anyway LOL

The reason I ask about protocol for awarding point to disconnected racers is because it might affect people that are more competitive at the end of the season. For example, say Coach loses out on second spot in the season to rynedee by 2 points at the end because Coach gets disconnected in the last race of the season. How will you handle that situation?

Just something to think about so that there is no confusion later on. Might be worth adding the points system for disconnected racers to the rules in the OP too.
