You couldn't be more wrong... IGN have one of the least professional band of writers.

👍 aye, my confidence in them was totally lost when they gave tumble (for ps move) a 3.0 , it was a clear 8, most reviews gave it a clear 8, i thought hte game for the most part was quality, but this review, or rather rant, was a pathetic peice of writing.

I much rather IGN than any other site. At least IGN tries to provide a professional review. Their team is top notch in my opinion. I know many people disagree with that.

for me the best most unbiased consistent reviews i have read are generally those of :

- IGN
- jeuxvideos.com
- totalvideogames.net

so wait and see...

the reviews of Edge, or gamekult are sometimes a joke, very inconsistent, unresponsible and unprofessionnal...

I agree. They do give a game a good score if it deserves it, and bad if it deserves it. They gave MGS4 10/10 !!! THat alone says how good they are at rating games. Also they wont give a good game a bad score just to get attention like that French website that review GT5.

I am thinking IGN will give GT5 8.9-9.6

I am sorry, but giving a game 10/10 doesnt make someone good at rating games. If anything, it's the exact opposite. If you cant find something bad about a game, you're not looking hard enough ( or you dont care ). There's no such thing as a perfect game.

IGN said the review will be up at 8:01am GMT, which is in around 15 minutes.

Gonna call it now and say it will get a 9.0, along with all the Fanboys saying it got less than F3. 9.5 would be good, but I don't think they will be that generous.

With all the hype and attention IGN has been giving to GT5 it would be really odd to not see a follow up good score from them...

EDIT and there you go 8.5

8.5/10 on IGN

"Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game – it’s driving is as exhilarating as anything that’s gone before, and its slavish obsession with the minutiae of many of its cars ensure it's an encyclopaedia of automotive delights. Its brilliance on the track, however is matched by its sloppiness off of it, and there’s a lack of polish that would at one time have seemed sacrilegious to the series. Ultimately its driving wins out to ensure that it’s still a great game, but it leaves that nagging doubt; this could have been a masterpiece were it not for the fact that Polyphony was so absorbed with the detail that it took its eye off the ball."

Nice words from eurogamer reviewer, really like this phrase:
"Suddenly – after two days' play – I wasn't playing a sim racing game any more. I wasn't learning a litany of trackside cues and cornering rhythms I might as well perform with my eyes shut. I was driving with the seat of my pants on the open road, feeling a powerful car under me, mapping the next bend with my intuition."

Not surprised. PD spent most of their time working on the physics engine and getting every polygon right on the cars rather than focusing on multiplayer, graphical hitches, and accessibility for general audiences.

A very long development time doesn't automatically equal a perfect game. Another example is the latest Final Fantasy.

On page 3 of the eurogamer review it says "Weather effects look incredible and do affect handling, but are limited to a handful of tracks and not dynamic." Not dynamic? But people have been racing in the sun, then it's started to rain shortly after. Sounds dynamic to me.

low scores only indicate that the reviewer is either spoiled or doesn't have GT-blood ...

(I did all GT versions and believe me its way better then ever before ... it's such a complete game !!!)

What bothers me is that IGN thing GT5P is the same score as GT5.

They also give a 9 for gameplay, graphics and lasting appeal, but a 7 for presentation (Which is fair enough)... to me, the gameplay and lasting appeal are the big two, so you know, take from that what you will.

👍👍👍👍👍 that's the spirit!

I would say between 7.5 - 8.5, but average about 8. The review on the first post is almost spot on. I still think it will sell really well and the die-hard GT fans will have already bought all the special edition pre-orders.

My prediction is that shelves of game stores will be full of pre-owned GT5 copies, mainly because a lot of players will have seen the media frenzy and bought it only to find it's problems, shortcomings and realise it's pretty boring in terms of instant satisfaction.

Sure NFS SHIFT 2 may be ten times more fun, exciting and cinematic, but if it has over 100 cars I'd be very surprised, and if the driving physics are like the first one, no thanks! TDU 2? OK probably a lot of fun, phenomenal scenery and very cool atmosphere but its more GTA and Facebook than an in-depth simulation. So the answer is no, again. FM4, I'll believe it when I see it, belief being the operative word. They make miracles happen but always end up tainting the result with some of the worst Q&A known to a driving game and diabolical online let-down with FM3. They've had 3 tries in 5 years and not once got it completely right. At least GT did with GT2 and GT3. So FM4 simply isn't worth waiting for, based on past experience...

Here is the thing: GT fans don't care, we are buying GT5 because there purely isn't something that does what we want as good as GT5 does at the moment, and I guess until GT6. So the critics and reviewers can stick their scores where the sun don't shine. I'll be buying the game and playing it to death. :D

Right... that's a rational and logical way to view it...

8.5 isn't bad at all! And these other ones top it off. Going to be amazing when I get it later today! :D
