GT5 Review scores (Update :Average metacritic score)

played for 3 days, 6.5 not more. Gt4 was better. Huge fail by pd and sony. However still playing it cause there is nothing better on ps3. Forza 3 is clearly better but i don't have xbox and never will. (better in overall experience)
 
GT5 does some things poorly and is dissappointing after 5 years and still seems rushed, BUT, after playing forza for awhile, cant see how anyone says thats better. Gt5 is being judged pretty harshly in the press
 
Just got an XBOX360 with Forza 3 to see what the fuss is about... in all honesty, i can say its an easier game, but i can see why people prefer it after seeing the ease of navigation, customization and the actual online gameplay, the only reason i can see people rating Forza as higher is because it isn't hard, its accessible, and its overcheesed and comercialised like NFS

I kind of agree, but you are playing the game with a heavy bias. Forza too me kind of like a true half way point between GT and NFS. Not quite as much a sim as GT, but more realistic than NFS. Now where forza really wins is pretty much giving the fans what they want. it has 500 cars, with lots of variety and quality. it also has a livery editor, and customization rivals NFS in terms of aesthetics, and GT in terms of actual mechanical customization. I think PD made some very big head scratcher moves that hurt the game.

I have forza and GT. GT is much more appealing. Forza 3 has great AI and physics but the graphics look like Gears of War, slightly too cartoony and too bloomy.

I still play foza 1 for the ultimate xbox racer. I'm really pleased with GT5, the only thing i don't like is the lack of cockpit views

It's not surprising that people are disappointed.
Everyone is just looking for the flaws instead of enjoying the good things and it's really annoying.

Show me one game with the features, physics and size of GT5, just ONE.
Don't say Forza, because it doesn't even have half the stuff GT5 has (except for more cockpits and a bit more optical tuning for the cars). The complaints are ridiculous.
 
I'm starting to see why so many reviews are tearing this apart over the interface. I don't know why they did it, but PD seemed to have put together a menu system even worse than what GT4 had.

too true, we wait years for the game, then the 'apparant loyal' fans of the GT series, just look for gripes. The game is huge and will get even better
 
This was a huge shot in the foot for PD.

I was not expecting a great game, way too much hype and crazyness going around, but this was a real surprise. For a year (after getting forza 3 I watched closely the forums here), I watched thousands of posts saying the same thing. 'Forza sucks. GT5 will be the greatest game of all time'. I guess all those posters can eat their hearts now...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanboy. I love all GT's till 4 (played them all, basicaly grew up with them), but I had to buy a XBOX 360 for economic reasons. I was mad because I wanted a ps3 for GT5, but now...Well I think I've made a good choice.

I really think they need to update their view in what is a game, and what a game should have. I mean, only 200 great cars and 800 meh ones? I saw the pics, I saw the hi res pics. I've seriously seen better graphics on the PS2. Compare juiced 1 models and gt5 standarts. Unbelievable. No customization, no real damage (that's a jbad joke), same old same old.

I know I'll be flamed. But the people here that truly think about things will get my point. 5 years is a long, long time. I was expecting something mind blowing, a new standard on racing games.
Maybe GT6 guys.

But I tell you, those guys at Turn 10 must be ****ing laughing now, and with good reason! Their game, as funny as it can be, actually became the best racing game, on the current consoles...

I think he's saying the first post hasn't been updated.

There's no point including the lesser known sites, as they commonly don't get factored into the Metascore. It's only the big sites and mags that get included.
 
Don't worry about these damn reviews from these so-called critics. I bet over half of them didn't even bother to install the game when Polyphony highly suggested to do so.

Speaking of any GT bashers...there was a hilarious article the other day (forgot the site) and were talking about all the Forza fanboys joining GTPlanet just to...well, you know.

I'm with you 100% on this one. Can we really expect GT6 to be significantly better visually. PD have already said that they have used practically all that the PS3 has to give, and we still have an ugly game. I don't see how they can give us a game with a constant frame rate, no screen tearing, higher resolution reflections & shadows, no cardboards cutouts, no pop up with what the PS3 has left.
 
If only they updated the gameplay. I mean forza 3 doesn't have all that good graphics, but its gameplay is far ahead from GT (by the looks of it, of course, I haven't played the game yet.)

Forza 3 graphics are a lot better than GT5, believe me.I'm still enjoying playing GT5 though, it's why i bought the console on launch years ago, but graphically it's poor.PGR3 is graphically better, and that's been out about 4 years or more.

To metacritics score: Maybe I really don't know what that is, I thought it is just the avarage of all scores, if it is something special/else, then I certainly do not know what that is. No native speaker here by the way, so don't go too hard on me.

Sure the standards aren't great, but there is no way in hell GT5's graphics are poor. You're hyperbolising now. Wait, no, that's not strong enough.

You're being a fanboy now. GT5 has the best graphics for a racer to date. Somehow you're blinding yourself to that. Need I go grab EVERY SCREENSHOT AVAILABLE for this game to prove that?
 
I do agree with the people saying that the graphics aren't quite as good as they were made out to be. The vids and pics I saw aren't even close to the in game graphics. At 1080p the jaggies are present, the shadows are a jagged mess, the tracks themselves are quite ugly.
 
I'm sorry but if a girl has teh most beautiful eyes you ever saw but her face looks like a burnt pizza, I don't think you'd call her 'amazing'. It's ok, they really caught the 'car porn' feeling. But the fact that everything doesn't match makes it incomplete. And something amazing can't be incomplete. Right?

Last I checked you haven't played the game. You're basing your stance on footage and images by other people.

I suggest you honestly go try the game with a Premium car and watch the replay yourself.

And AFAIK, FM3 and most PC sims are not glitch-free either.
