GT5 "Spec 2.0" Discussion Thread - Read the First post!

I have been a huge fan of Gran Turismo since the first and I must say, they have been very disappointing since the announcement of GT5. This better be worth it or I will have to go with Forza 4 until GT6 comes out.

If spec 2.0 is a response to Forza 4... then I hope PD actually do the standards to premiums they have talked about in the past.

I didn´t read anywhere that Forza4 was going to have 1.000 cars.....

Even saying that, GT5 NEED at least 100 more Premiums, including last (and current) year Hypercars.
 
What a great time for my hard drive to corrupt itself, losing 500 cars or 10 million CR doesn't bother me, what is sad is the gold medals on everything except 3 endurance races (All golds on Vettel challenge after so many hours with my DS3, 60 golds on licence tests, leveling to 40/40, and losing all of my photo's including competition winners on my PS3) :(

I thought Forza was somewhere between 500-600 (multiple liveries count as totally different cars on Forza like GT, but they have a load more of them, something I'd actually like on GT).

Dude, this was proved a fake a while ago, all that it is is a 3-D model somebody created and edited into various scenes from GT5 and real life, just to cause a stir. Notice:

DLC? I think not.
 
I don't want to sound pessimistic, but, I don't think we're going to get anything worthwhile with this Spec 2.0 update. Because, why would we? The only content we've gotten for free has been the helmets, racing suits, and seasonal events. And, if Kaz said that DLC is to follow this update, giving people free stuff before the release of DLC would most likely make people opt-out of buying DLC later on. (Hypothetical situation: "If I got track "X" last week for free, why do I need to shell out $10 for track "Y" a week later?) I am pretty sure that Spec 2.0 will fix some bugs and allow the game to accept DLC. If we "get" anything, we'll be paying for it, that is for sure in my opinion.

I understand what you are saying but by calling it 'Spec 2' they are implying that it is a major upgrade to the game, Gran Turismo 5 2.0. At the very least it should have new features and functionality along with bug fixes. Think of it this way, in December we had a huge update adding remote races, seasonals, ucd, along with other fixes and changes and even that wasn't considered a spec update. We need to keep our expectations from running wild while at the same time remembering what GT5P spec updates did for the game.

Spec updates have always been big updates to GT, doubt this will be just a small patch... history says otherwise.

Well I`m hoping that the spec 2.0 revamps A spec and B spec races, ie more cash and xp, because all i do is seasonals because there worth more! I think all new tracks should be included in spec 2.0 like test track and 400m 1000m and other gt4 tracks, Maybe completely new real world tracks could be dlc.... all updated standard to premium cars should also be included with spec 2.0 update and again any new for gt5 cars in dlc....

Still can`t WAIT, don`t fancy an xbox anyway.....pah

I hope there won't be a Spec 3. All 2012/2013 cars are 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 ugly.
 
So the Forza 4 ads are now on Tv - looks good, Oh why does PD not tease us with some snippets about the Spec 2 upodate and DLC - wasted opportunity!!

If he gave us snippets of whats ahead, we'd judge whats coming, decide we dont like it. This way, he's keeping us guessing, thereby forcing us to hang along for a little while until release. Yes, it may well be a wasted opportunity, but he is also taking advantage of it in a different way. Why release a week after FM4? Its all part of his plan. And if its not, its one huge coincedence that looks to be played out nicely :lol:

If Kaz gives us a hint, some of us will complain.
And Kaz hates complains, meaning that Kaz is gonna make some changes.
Resulting in a DELAY!:scared:!

So no hints, just a promise of 2.0

Or a loss of customers. IF the DLC is Paid, he would want to keep as many customers as possible and if he tells what spec 2.0 will bring, people will complain and move to Forza, this way, he keeps the most possible. Makes me think, is this Vettel Free X2010 Give-away another way of keeping customers?
