So True. +1. Can't. Stop. Reading. GTPlanet. LOL

You're not the only one. I don't post much, but I'm constantly visiting for any new updates.

I want just as much stuff as any other person but I can't quit thinking about why we are getting this Spec II update.

  1. I have to ask what do you think it has been like at PD HQ the past 9 months?

For one, there was the earthquake. Then, PD moved (or opened?) to new offices. I'd say they may have had 7 months to work at the most, all other factors aside (patches, bug fixes, etc.).

I really believe a lot of stuff was put on the back burner just to get the game out. Meaning features that needed to be finished or developed. Who knows what these features are but I most certainly hope for a few new tracks. Not that I have a gripe with the current tracks, but I'd certainly like to see more real-world circuits than fantasy tracks. In a selfish desire, I'd love to see more M cars: M1, older M5s, e30 & e36 M3s, and the 1-Series M Coupe. Besides that, I'm not much of a speculator and welcome anything PD offers.

I'll be back in an hour or so to check for any breaking news. :scared:

A good idea would for someone to be keeping an eye on his twitter to see if he hints at anything. Anyone already doing this?

That's most likely true. I've been thinking that for a while now. The past updates have been too quiet for that 600 mb update (1.05) to have had the features that were delayed. Maybe I'm wrong, but these next 3 weeks will be annoying. Just waiting and waiting. I hope the 1 month heads up wasn't a waste if you now what I mean.

Everyone besides you? haha I do that consistently enough. Kaz hasn't mentioned Lucas's win aka the X2010 prize we should be getting. That should tell people that he's either asleep or hard at work.

These, also, aren't on the front page yet. What gives?

The X2010 is for Vettel's win in the F1 this coming weekend???

Oh, and no I dont keep an eye on twitter. Dont quite like the place to be honest. I just rely on what everyone here says...

It would be good if we got Lucas' LMP2 car though...

OH yeah you might be right. An overall win is better than just one win though, so I took it that way. (edit - I keep mixing up Ordonez and Vettel, I'm a moron lol)

Twitter is blah, I only have it just in case and for a couple certain other people besides Kaz.

We won't get that LMP2 car for another 6 months lol. We can quite possibly get the GT-R Kaz used for the win at Nurburgring. It looked like a straight up Stealth.

If Vettel wins this weekend he does win the World Championship :nervous:...

 The GTR would be possible and a nice little addition...

I mixed up Vettel and Ordonez because Vettel is supposed to have a "clear" win this weekend and Ordonez has "clearly" won the championship and has an extra race to do.

I hate to sound like the "ungrateful" one but I get annoyed how PD is so secretive of what has to come.
Eh, I guess they don't want to give false hope? No?

Pretty good point. They probably dont want to lose more customers buy making a promise then being unable to keep it. For the best they dont tell us. Besides, what would the rest of us be doing if we werent speculating whats to come  Then its also probably to keep us here instead of moving to FM4, why would we go anywhere when we dont know whats coming? Why not sit here and wait it out abit? Seems somewhat strategic on PD's part...

What I would love, not just for GT5, but perhaps for the future of GT games would be a "Create your own car" feature. You would be able to pick every part in the car from the Tires to the Body itself. Perhaps from a large list of parts, or even being able to lift parts out of other cars available in the game. Imagine lifting an F1 chassis, bolting a VW Samba bus body and sticking a sweet turbo engine in the rear. Just as an example. Would be nice if you could completely design your own car body as well . As for interior, a race car like stripped out kit would be oh so purrfect.

Sounds pretty futuristic doesn't it?

Reminds me of a game from back in 1982 actually. ;) Couldn't drive the car and the settings were pretty limited, but it does make me think that something similar would be interesting today.

A lot of us have, which is why I'm sure PD knows it's kind of like a "do or die" situation. Except the "die" will be people leaving GT for Forza. The rest of us will just be disappointed, but this is one of those times where its doubtful that we'll be disappointed by a Spec 2. We were all hoping for one.

It is going to have to be one heck of an update for it to make me start playing it when Forza comes out. I just played the demo of F4 and it blew me away. There is actual AI in the cars, I am sick of running from the back and overtaking zombie cars.

haha well in that case, Spec II made an improvement to the AI in Prologue. Maybe same thing for Spec 2 coming up?

Only three weeks left.

All I want is some screenshot :nervous:

Guys, the "third" week of October is only 2 weeks away.

This was a feature in SEGA GT on the Dreamcast. I remember taking the body of what looked like a Mini, making it AWD and putting a 1000bhp monster under the hood. Went like stink but was too fast for corners. :)

Just to share something stupid/weird/crazy/funny or whatever, I had a dream about the DLC last night (don't ask me why) and there where about 10-15 new cars.
I remember two new Ford Mustang GT and a Ford Fiesta. Can't remember the rest of them.

I'm not saying I'm obsessed with Spec 2.0 but this is kinda scary :D

I'm really hoping for some 2011 cars. Most of all the Aventador and DTM cars. Just saw the Forza car list somewhere on this forum and that looks great. The Aston Martin One-77 and the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento would be great.

And Spa of course!

I think I'm going to save up to 20 mil credits so I can buy alot of cars when they come out. Or do you think you automatically get the cars when you buy the DLC?

The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

Start: 10/05/2011 07:00 BST
Finish: 10/05/2011 08:00 BST

The above may be some kind of prep for whats to come. I have noticed a big improvement with online with the recent GT5 server/psn maintenance. Don't get me wrong still have loading bars for some people I race with but that is more to do with router settings/compatitbillity between racers. We race out of private lobbies and used to restrict lobby size to 12 for stabiliity but there were still issues with racers dropping out and framerate drops and coms issues etc.

We ran a 14 racer private lobby the other night did not have one drop out, the race was smooth as and no coms issues at all. During testing as well we ran 14+ and was really stable. Hopefully with spec 2 can reliably run 16 in a private lobby without issues.

Online for me is one of the most important features of GT5, so I hope more lobby options come with the spec 2.0 update. Followed by less or adjustable slipstream and we most deffo need rewind/fastforward features for the replay funcion, great for photomode and checking replays for race admin. A few more tracks would be nice as well as some new cars.

I just hope now that PD give us some info leading up to the release of Spec 2.0 and DLC, this is painful and is no different to torture. I think we need to report PD to the UN, crimes against gamers" lol

Paged* sorry about that.

I have high expectations. I didn't at first but now I do :)

..and my PS3 is practically in a coma. I must take it for maintenance and have dust mounds removed and new thermal paste applied. Of course, it had to happen 2 weeks before GT5 Spec II. I always wanted to drive an E30 BMW.

Agree the AI, and real racing need to be added to GT.... BUT, until forza has better handling ohysics and is designed for wheel users i cannot drop Gt5. More a-spec content a lot, damage, AI, qualifying need to be added ot Gt 5 will have lost me.

Heh, I just had a play with that - apparently my car braked well and had decent pace (13.3s to 60!), but was sluggish in slow corners and scary in high speed corners - result! It's pretty cool, although limited as you say. I'd love to have a crack at making something like that now, although you could argue that that's exactly what Racer is to some extent, albeit not very accessible to non-engineers etc.

The carrosserie was cool, but was in some ways more limited than that game above (you can't mix and match body styles, for instance) although there was certainly more choice, and you could actually drive your own creations. All food for thought.

I need to get my GT5 disc a clean in one of those shops that do it. For some reason it has been stalling like crazy, other alternative is to buy another copy. I intend to buy the platinum too so if it happens I'll have 3 copies.

If there's one thing I'm pretty sure PD will include in this superior update is in race saves. They have promised us that they would include it in a future update so why would they not do it in Spec II?
Then again it is PD we are talking about here...
