The title now says "Hope For The Best, Expect Even Better". Well, I hope for some kind of drag racing (or at least a drag strip) to be included, and I should expect more than that? No, pretty sure that won't happen. :indiff:

That's just me though, and I bet the rest of all you guys will be overjoyed by the upcoming news. 👍

What's with the Spa fascination? Spa is a great track by all means, but it's not the greatest. I think Suzuka is on par with Spa. Imola was a great track as well. Silverstone is awesome as is Circuit Gilles Villenueve in Canada. There's more great tracks than just Spa. Hell, some of Kaz's own tracks are quite awesome. Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, Grand Valley, etc. I think Spa would be great to be in the game, but they better have it with dynamic weather because that's what makes Spa what it is. The unpredictable weather!

We can argue which track is the greatest, but that's subjective. Let's just say it's one of the greatest, a legendary track considered to be one of the most challenging in the world. It's the favourite track of many racing drivers and fans. That's probably why people are fascinated about it. :)

TGS 2010

Hope for the best; recieving actual real cash for winning in game races.
Expect even better; getting to keep car that you win for completing tournaments?

OK, this has just landed in my inbox from Amazon:

GT5 preorder iniciative, and here is the intresting part of the "Manufacturer's Description":

That pretty much sums it up :)

Yeah - it's by far not the first time we hear about dynamic weather (or weather at least). :)

What im hoping for from TGS is some details with regards to the online features. My only fear with GT5 is PDs lack of experience and naivety. What I mean by this is i've been playing racing games online on consoles for nearly 6 yrs now and i've witnessed incredible behaviour from those seeking to gain an advantage. Here is a list of questions that I would like answered based on my experiences.

1. How will PD deal with the idiots whose main purpose is to ruin everyones fun by smashing people off the track?

2. What about those who cut corners to gain an advantage in an online race or hotlapping on the leaderboards. What about those who wallbash rather than using the brakes.

3. On Forza 2 you used to get some people using a faster car to smash into the back of someone so they can start the lap much quicker than normal. They would then use their friends to draft them around the track. How will PD deal with these.

Now whilst I was playing GT5P I noticed PD did try and prevent the above. However this was flawed because many times I would recieve a penalty because someone would smash into me which led to me hitting the person in front and recieving a penalty. Also the corner cutting on Daytona road course was just silly and rendered those boards as being useless.

I imagine some of you don't see this as being a problem. However once many have finished the offline side of the game many will venture online. I can tell you from experience the above points I raise are far more important than say Standard vs premium cars or 2D trees or any other trivial threads I read. Many will realise this for themselves in the future.

Here is a video I made showing the idiots on FM3.

I think most idiots (mostly kids) will play GT with standard physics. I noticed a big difference in the behaviour of online players playing Prologue with pro or standard physics. There are certainly alot less idiots when you play with pro physics.

Personally I love it. The Eau Rouge / Raidillon combination is the greatest corner/s in motor-sport (just my opinion). The hilly nature of the track and its location in the forest give it a special quality also. 👍

Lets hope your right. I didn't play GT5P very much on professional because back then I was a pad user but now I have a wheel. One of the main problems on FM3 is many still have this fast in, slow out mentality.

I sometimes wonder if collisions on is worth the hassle sometimes and isn't suited to racing video games. The problem with online racing compared to real life is you don't have the fear factor or the same sense of awareness of those around you. Also the large differences in ablities makes a huge difference because some people will brake later or earlier than your expecting.

I see some are talking about tracks. My favourites are Spa, Monza. However I have recently been playing GT PSP and I forgot what an awesome track Gran Valley Speedway is. I would actually say this is the best track I have ever raced on. Im surprised nobody has built this!!

In my opinion it became legendary with its original 14 Km layout.
Those roads still exist; it would be great, if Spa is included, if PD researched about them too and included the old layout too in addition to the current GP one.

Such a "blowout" is possible seeing that GT4 was released way longer of TGS. GT5's release date is only one month and a half far from TGS.

They need time to print blu-rays.I remember the final code for Forza 3 is established 1 month before release date.

Read son, key words i said the latest which is Friday October 8th that they can RTM and that would give them 3 full weeks for shipping and manufacturing which is plenty.:)

I really do hope we see more than eight cars on track at the same time at TGS. That's been bugging the **** out of me since GamesCom even though we've seen 16 beforehand.

I mean why do that at this stage?

Famine or SolidSnakeX could probably tell you better - not sure have I read about it here or on Neogaf - but one Japanese company actually wanted to make Grand Valley Speedway as an real life location.

However, they never did it, unfortunately.

EDIT: OK, i found it, it was Famine's interview on GDC:

Given the time, money, space and resources, which fantasy Gran Turismo track would you create in the real world?

Kazunori was visibly awed by this question and spent nearly a minute thinking of an answer. “Deep Forest”, he said. I countered with “Trial Mountain?”. His next answer was complex – the team haven’t revealed anywhere near all of the tracks yet and there may be a fantasy GT5 track which exceeds Deep Forest in his estimations, and Trial Mountain in mine.

Kazunori continued, “A construction company in Japan [Maeda] investigated the possibility of building Grand Valley. They wrote a book about it!”. We weren’t able to get an accurate title from Kazunori or Translator-san – it didn’t seem to translate well, but “Fantasy Business Scheme” was the final answer. If you know of this book, please let us know!

Regarding dynamic weather, look don't get me wrong, I really would like to believe but I just can't, it just seems to awesome to be true. 16 ultra-high poly cars, damage, day-night change AND changing weather at 60 frames? I just can not really believe that untill I see it, altough I know that IF somebody can deliver that, than it is only PD, and really only PD.

Look blokes... it's the final week or so.

In all honesty, given what we've seen at the latest Demos. The damage looks amazing fellas. I really don't know what to expect. At first I thought "yeah just the same s:censored:t we've always seen but after seeing that damage I really think we;re in for a mega surprise. We don't even know..But more information on car modification/customization would be great. :)

TGS = THE GAME SOONY

Well, I live here in Japan and I've only just discovered this incredible site but if I can contribute by getting hold of news early or whatnot, then I'll certainly do my best. I've got so much help from this site already so I want to contribute if I can.
Whether I can get the time off work to actually go to Tokyo is another matter...

To be fair, nobody has said we'd be getting all of those features in one particular race. I'd be incredibly surprised if we do. PD can work some surprising magic on systems compared to most other developers (same with Hideo Kojima and his group), but even they have limits.

I see, you're right, actually nobody stated that all the features will be seen all at the same time. I just would find it very weird you know, weather changes and day-night changes are mostly fitting with the 24h endurance races, that's what I am thinking at least about when hearing weather,day-night changes.
It just would be weird to have only one of these features in these long races, when both features are implemented in the game itself.
I hope you get my point.

Welcome to GtPlanet!:cheers::gtpflag:

Would be great if you would concentrate and stalk all the related japanese websites because we have little japanese members as far as I can judge.:)

Welcome to GTPlanet cerbera0104!
I am confident you'll find a way to contribute and we'll appreciate it.

In my opinion, we won't see the mixing of day/night and dynamic weather.

I think the day/night will remain so, but the dynamic weather will only be for day or evening races in which there is no changing of the time.

Hopefully I am wrong, but rain and day/night would be epic, but I am feeling it's unlikely.

Hmm, if your correct then i don't see the 24H races being as fun, i'd love for it to start pouring with rain in the middle of the night on the 'ring i just hope PD can implement it all together.

It could happen, though.

The lack of videos, promo shots, etc;, at this close to game release tends me to believe that PD hasnt improved the effects much more beyond what has been seen in previous games.

Maybe this is the September surprise. :)
