The title now says "Hope For The Best, Expect Even Better". Well, I hope for some kind of drag racing (or at least a drag strip) to be included, and I should expect more than that? No, pretty sure that won't happen. :indiff:

That's just me though, and I bet the rest of all you guys will be overjoyed by the upcoming news. 👍

I'm hoping for it too man, I'm hoping for it too.

Well, I live here in Japan and I've only just discovered this incredible site but if I can contribute by getting hold of news early or whatnot, then I'll certainly do my best. I've got so much help from this site already so I want to contribute if I can.
Whether I can get the time off work to actually go to Tokyo is another matter...

Welcome to GTPalnet! If your Japanese is good you might be able to help translate Kaz's Twitter posts in the 'Kaz Tweets!' thread

Of course I am for real. The game has been in development for almost 6 years, only 20% of the cars are premium. There is a pretty good chance it could get bumped if Kaz decides to make all the cars premium. Are you new here? :dunce:

With that said, if they dont bump the game at TGS 2010 then this game will come out for sure this year. So in 8 days we get our answer.

While it is possible it will get delayed, its not necessarily guaranteed. Sony, technically still has rank over Kaz, specially with the game for the most part complete. Even though its not ideal, its seems very close to being functional for the public. But otherwise, you're all about right. 8 days till the truth is known.

What im hoping for from TGS is some details with regards to the online features. My only fear with GT5 is PDs lack of experience and naivety. What I mean by this is i've been playing racing games online on consoles for nearly 6 yrs now and i've witnessed incredible behaviour from those seeking to gain an advantage. Here is a list of questions that I would like answered based on my experiences.

1. How will PD deal with the idiots whose main purpose is to ruin everyones fun by smashing people off the track?

2. What about those who cut corners to gain an advantage in an online race or hotlapping on the leaderboards. What about those who wallbash rather than using the brakes.

3. On Forza 2 you used to get some people using a faster car to smash into the back of someone so they can start the lap much quicker than normal. They would then use their friends to draft them around the track. How will PD deal with these.

Now whilst I was playing GT5P I noticed PD did try and prevent the above. However this was flawed because many times I would recieve a penalty because someone would smash into me which led to me hitting the person in front and recieving a penalty. Also the corner cutting on Daytona road course was just silly and rendered those boards as being useless.

I imagine some of you don't see this as being a problem. However once many have finished the offline side of the game many will venture online. I can tell you from experience the above points I raise are far more important than say Standard vs premium cars or 2D trees or any other trivial threads I read. Many will realise this for themselves in the future.

Here is a video I made showing the idiots on FM3.

Well, part of it can be dealt with in physics. I remember them saying going off track and getting your tires dirty can result in substantial and prolonged traction loss. Mechanical Damage should deal with most bashers, and unfortunately their victims though a properly timed evasive maneuver might reduce the number of victims. As for using a high powered car and some buddies to reach higher speeds. . . Have to fight team work with team work. Idk, how else to get around that one. And wall riding on time trials, I would imagine even with damage in place, PD is going to leave the time and lap DQ system in place.

I'm not sure if that helps or not, maybe it lets people brainstorm at least. Hope it was of some use.

I won't say there isn't a chance but it's pretty small. 14 days at most if it will be delayed again.
When it comes to GT there is no such thing as a 14 day delay. If it gets delayed it will not be out this year. This is pretty much the last major showing for GT5 and this is their last major opportunity to build hype or announce the delay. So if GT5 does not get delayed at TGS, it will actually come out this year. 👍

Judging how forward all of their marketing has been, November 2nd is for real. Granted we haven't seen any commercials yet, but they have pressed pretty hard forward for this release date and there isn't any signing of a delay

How can you guys still talk about "delay" at this point in time??

There will be NO delay what so ever!

SONY, PD, KAZ can no longer afford postponing release. Their reputation is now at stakes for holding out for so long already. No matter what mistake is found at the last minute, the game will live with it PERIOD.

Nov 2 is a hard DEADline.

Delay is no longer conceivable.

EDIT: Sony announced already that GT5 will be the Sony/PS3 2010-2011 Flagship game... the window to Sony's 3D TV store. Their revenue this upcoming holiday season depends on it.

And now patches are readily available for any kind of slip ups and glitches. I wonder if there will be any launch day DLC though? A lot of new games are offering it

What are you suggesting by Launch day DLC?? what would be the content of it??

I dont see why? The Game ought to be complete by Nov 2.

Launch day DLC could be anything. From custom cars, to special features that didn't fit on disc. Could be anything.

And you expect them to immediately offer DLC on launch day when everyone will simply be busy discovering all the content on the disk?
Why? As a business it makes no sense unless it's a patch to offer additional content on the day of launch or even the first few weeks as the vast majority will still be busy obtaining the content already available.

Some companies offer free 'first day DLC' as a 'reward' via an unlock code in the box for buying the game brand new. I think its just stuff on the disc only available to people who buy new instead of pre-owned. Once you type the code in the box its tied to your account. A good thing for developers as they get nothing from pre-owned sales (I think? not 100% sure though on that). Bad news for the cheap ***** :sly:

Either way, its a possibility. Whether it makes sense to us or not is irrelevant. The possibility remains.

If they do have it, I won't complain.

Plus, why not? It's DLC. It's not like you have to access it immediately. Unless you're impatient.

I'm just saying like maybe it could be promotional race cars, or even a drag strip offered on day one. Even like a Kevin Butler exclusive racing outfit tied to the GT5 commercial. I'm not saying there has to be, but there may be and it could be in any form..

More content would never hurt, at any time. As a business for Turn10 it was probably largely to the pirating of Xbox games, offering something on the first day if you actually bought the game new.

Heh, a last-minute delay isn't a new thing for PD: Just look at GT4. Thanks to CoolColJ for reminding me.

TGS2004:

See that date up above the TV? Odd, it was bumped to the 28th afterwards.

Don't get me wrong; I feel we really are at the end of a long long road now. All this pre-release stuff, the various packages, the promotional tie-ins; it is coming. But it's entirely possible we could see a small unforeseen delay.

PS2 games didn't have internet updates though, so developers had to be absolutely sure that the game was as best as it could get. Small bugs (or car specification errors... GT4 was full of them unfortunately, despite the last minute delay) this time can be polished after the release date. I don't think the game is going to get delayed anymore.

...are you saying it'd be okay for PD to release with bugs? Just because the modern connected generation of consoles allows updates and patches?

If GT5 does ship with some bugs that need immediate attention upon release, I'm excited to see how that's spun into a positive around these parts .

No, of course it doesn't, but the internet connection functionalities of current generation consoles allow to reduce the amount of time spent polishing games before they go Gold. I'm not referring to serious glitches or blocking bugs, but smaller things like typos, incorrect car specification data, incorrect car modeling details (such as decals, sponsors and the like), etc. Again, it's no excuse for PD to release an unpolished game, but with so much content and data it's very hard to QA absolutely everything in a timely manner. Internet updates allow the developers to "relax" a bit on that matter (of course, there surely are several ones that will abuse this privilege, like with paid DLC by the way, but that's another story).

Many developers hold back on some content so they can charge and earn extra money for it later on. Sometimes - as already been mentioned - the DLC is even on the disc! Ridiculous!

I don't mind paying for DLC when it's been developed after the game, which to me DLC is all about. Developing and adding extra stuff later on, after the game has been finished and released. Instead of withholding content that should have been included within the game.

Who knows PD might do the same, although I, for some reason, don't think they will.

Seeing as that's what KAZ said will definitely not happen, I'm gonna take his word for it, this once.

Like you say, nov 2 is sure to be the release date. I really think Kaz meant it when he said the game is ready and to be release february 2010, but Sony decided otherwise becaue of 3D. That might be the reason we have seen skidmarks very recently, maybe it wasn't originally part of the plan, 6 months is more than enough to add 3D so they kept working on the game, doesn't mean it's not ready.

Are we referring to Assassin's Creed 2 here?? :p
i totally understand you and agree too on the principle of DLC.

As for Kaz, he is japanese and this is usually not something they would do, they have something called a "code of honor" in their blood.

It is not his type of do such things, milking us. He is developing games because it's his duty, his passion, not for the money as the principal reason.

Unless i am ignorant and wrong... please Translator-San, will you enlight us

by the way: I like you signature 👍

Im excited for this... November is still far away :yuck: Question: what ever happend too qualifying in GT? It was only in the first and I really want it back, ALWAYS starting last is ridiculas. and a pole position bonus would be a nice incentive! :P

There is a thread up focused on qualifying, it would be better to ask there for information, i myself have no idea what is going on with it :)

I hope we get the top gear reasonably priced cars, and its a locked feature meaning no modifications, that will be so so so cool.

This time kaz should show some of the LMP's!!! :)

e.g Peugeot 908 HDI FAP (already shown at le mans, france this year),
Audi R10 TDI and R15 TDI, toyota gt-one race car, lola astin martin,

Capcom did it on Resident Evil 5 for their DLC. It was already on the disc and when you bought the addons, you downloaded a tiny little file to unlock it... I was most not impressed, almost to the point of pure rage

Yeah??!! Where is ManFurismoJive as he has promised?? I just watched the previous video of KB with ModRacer Nation... (Still as enjoyable as the first time)

I can't wait to see what he has to say about Sony's Flagship!??
