Don't Need One
As you all know all GT games have been huge commercial success (All GT games sold over Ten million copies with the exception of GT2 which sold 9.8 million copies) with that in mind many people have no doubt that GT5 will be a success. So i will like to hear your oppinion on GT5's first day sells.
My guess 2.6 million (first 24 hours).:)

On the one hand, I feel like GT5 might sell more than its predecessors, because we have been waiting for it for so long, and PS3s have been out for a good while now, so more people probably have them. On the other hand, I feel like their are other games that are more competitive than the other stuff out there when the other games came out. Maybe I was isolated, and I forget which game it was, but I remember thinking, this really is the only REAL driving sim (at least for a console). The only alternative was like NFS high stakes or something. I wonder how many copies of GT5 have already been sold through pre-ordering...

Really I have no idea on an actual number.

I bet more than a million people have been so turned off by so many delays, and such a long wait, 90% of people have forgot about the game and unless there are plenty of commercials they won't bother otherwise

Yeah, but when you think about it, it has also lost some people due to the long wait time. i actually have a friend that went and bought XBOX 360 just for forza 3 all because he was tired of waiting for GT5:grumpy: (he is going to regret it ofcourse, but what do i care) thats one copy that Sony lost. but i dont think that GT lacks fans. At least they still got my money.

I hear ya, unless they pull off a massive Ad campaing like Microsoft did with halo 3 it might not fare so well in its first week :nervous:. And we all know Sony are not good in Campaings for their exclusives.

People don't just magically forget about Gran Turismo people, come on now. I'm sure a few people will get it after a little while once it's on the shelves and everything will be all good. I'm saying 2.5 millions first week worldwide :P

4 milion first week.

it isn't now just a game like 6 years ago. Every motorhead knows what it is.

Also we know that it's 60+-80 mln+ $ game. But the real secret is how much $ did they spend on stickers,gt academy, adds. Those are everywhere where is motorsport...

Imo it is a high number but anything is possible(look at Mw2), you just never know whats going to happen.:)

Alot depends on if Japan get it first or it's a world wide release.

i would say around 4 000 000$ just first day... maybe i'm optimistic but we will see... There are at least 100 000 that will buy the game first day... Including me, you, them, everybody! everybody! At least in Japan will be 50 000 and then comes America, Europe ecc... And game magazines and car tv shows... Incredible... Total gross will probably be around 200 000 000-300 000 000$... Cheers!

If GT5 manages to get some airtime in the new series of Top Gear prior to its release, especially showing the Top Gear test track, i think it'll will break all game records, in the UK at least.

Personally I don't think it will beat COD and GTA in the UK. Just my opinion.

If GT5 will have a simultaneous world wide relese, then I vote 1mln at day one and 3 in the first week.

I thought Sony did a good job of advertising for Heavy Rain. I'm sure Sony can pull it off. PD has done half the work through their stunning trailers.

Yea, i also think they did a very good job with advertizing Heavy rain, but a perfect example of what i was saying is Final Fantasy 13, when it came to North America they really did not put any effort into advertising it as a game that was also coming to the ps3. all i ever saw was Microsoft Advertising it like it was an exclusive :yuck:. and that proved to work to some degree because instead of being so far back in the sales like i thought they would, they were actually pretty close with the ps3 sales of FF13. Although it is no loonger an exclusive SONY should have treated it like one.

Top Gear is a very influncial Show and like you said if it got some air time in it, the sales will fly off the roof :).

I can see the sheer number of cars, the strong brand and the shiny graphics appealing to the mainstream. However, gameplay isn't.

So maybe it's a good thing they won't rely on DLC, because I think not that many players will survive the shock of multiplayer. And that's what kids today want - go online and have some fun.

GT was always a bit of a show off game to annoy PC users in the old days and 360 owners in - well - whenever they release it.

👍 Gotta agree with you on that one, so many kids will get humiliated by pros online, in fact if you dont have a wheel your 🤬 online.

I would get humiliated too, no doubt about that, that's why I tend to stay well clear of multiplayer not to shatter my ego :D

Well they have my money, going to pre-order as soon as theres a proper release date, probs get the special edition if the rumors are anything to go by.

And I expect about 85% of the people on this website will get it the day it comes out.

lol so why gt1/2/3/4 sold almost 50 mln coppies ? Gameplay is where GT shines the most !!!

you can't get volvo estate drift anywhere else. ONLY IN GT :)

THIS IS PURE WIN !!!

Also for me and for maaany more GT is THE most played game ever. I alone have like 1k hours in GT4.

It is just pure win when you buy used honda city turbo II then you add some ****&things and try to imagine that you can in GT5 be inside :D cocpit view ftw :)

I'll probably order the game (SE if available) when all major sites have the same release date showing, and I can pick the cheapest, probably a few weeks off the actual launch. I hardly think stock will run out for those who do not pre-order though, as gone seem to be the days of missing out because you wanted to simply walk into a store on launch day.

Given that most large public forums like this tend to have only a few regulars in proportion to the total number of members (135,372 at time of writing), I would have put that figure at less than 85%. Not sure what, but 50 - 60% feels about right. Could be totally wrong though!

Totally agree, loved that soccer mom's Volvo 240GLT in GT4, had 5 of them in that game all tuned to the max and provided the most unlikely buzz.
If GT can indeed turn that Volvo into something you might enjoy ( and i've driven a real one once, wasn't exactly lively or fun ) most other cars included will offer something for everyone, and now all driveable from cockpit view...;)

Nice drifting vid there, and I have to say, it always impresses me just how good GT4 looks. OK, it's a small video so the low-res nature of the source is sharpened up somewhat, but the lighting and modeling is great. They really did push that little PS2!

lol i remember a while back, 2005 i'm pretty sure it was, Jeremy drove the NSX around laguna seca on GT4 then went to the actual track and it in real life so he could compare his times in the game and in real life. i think this was all done as a tribute to the NSX

4 million copies in the first week :S, thats extremely hard pressed at least for a ps3 tittle, I know its not the same genre, but to me Uncharted 2 is perfection of the Action genre the way GT5 will be of the racing genre, and that has yet to sell 4 million on the ps3.
