Who picked the music for GT5? And it's not the songs that you can change, it's the menu music (UCD, pre-race screen, buying car music, finish race music, NCD music). The music is so bad it makes me not even want to do the things I listed above.

Anyone else feel this way?

It sounds fine to me. A lot of them are awesome! I like how PD chooses their music :D They're classy and very unique.

However, it's everyone's opinions of what they think of the music library.

@ Dark_ruffo

+100 And put on your own music. GT5 supports external music via MP3, as well.

The only really good song is Soul On Display... I actually downloaded it to my iPod and am playing it along with the rest of my custom playlist.

First GT game huh? Sorry they don't blare screamo and gangster rap at you, and I hope they never do. The menu music is something that gives the series its charm and character.

But you know what's great about the series? Ever since 3, you've been able to chose what music you want to play during races. And now in 5, you can choose what music you want to play all the time. From the GT life screen, click on the button that is a musical note. Now press triangle on a song, and you can chose whether it plays during races, menus, slideshows, or never. WOW! The little things that reading the manual would've told you.

Oh, and yeah you can also use music off the PS3's hard drive in menus too. Again, reading the manual would've helped.

I like a few of the classical tracks from the slideshow list, and 'Heads will Roll' by the Yeah yeah yeahs. The rest are crap. A lot of the jazz is unbearable, namely the new car dealer music.

You can't change the UCD music, pre race music etc. If you've actually read the first post, then you would know I'm not talking about the in race music or music in the homescreen. Read before you post.

The 'Entertainer' in GT Auto isn't too bad. And the UCD menu is okay. TBH I don't really mind most of the songs/tunes that PD has put in, although some of the BGM is awful (but you can change that :sly: )

I no longer have the music on but the music isn't that bad. GT has always has similar music. Can't beat the dealership music from GT1 though!! =]

Anyone who complain about it have never played ALL OF THE OTHER Gran Turismo games in history.

Having the ability to add, adjust, or remove tracks in GT5 is awesome. It also kinda makes this thread useless.

I enjoy the calm jazz at the menus after a hard day of work.

I've played every full release in the series (in fact, my personal menu BGM is made up entirely of menu music from previous games in the series). I still think GT5's soundtrack sucks, with only a handful of exceptions.

Try again.

Which makes GT5's selections all the odder, because it is completely devoid of the series' repeated musical themes.

Nice try at a strawman, though.

Terrible, terrible irony in responding in such a smartass way when it is clear you didn't even read the first post correctly.
Also, that amazing custom soundtrack feature turns itself off when online unless the room is set up in a certain way, so even if you had been right in responding to the OP in such a "clever" way, you still would have been wrong.

Erm...no. Musical taste is entirely subjective. You might hate it, but there's another thread in this same forum appreciating the soundtrack. In my particular case, I love it. And even my non-GT playing friends find the lounge-jazz menu music to be cool and interesting.

Don't like it? Turn it off and upload your own. Don't be so harsh on something they (PD) have allowed you to change completely if you don't want (Unlike that stupid car list...).

The music is so bad that you don't want to buy and cars or do any races? You may as well trade in the game cuz you're missing out quite a bit by being so whiny and picky. :ouch: I guess if you really want to keep it you could do what I do when I go on my buying sprees - mute the sound. I can't stand the stupid song they play every time you get a new car but I like driving a lot of different cars so I mute the sound and the problem is solved.

I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song and that's it. I just listen to my own playlists now for races and menus.

My issue with the music is how it starts many songs and then goes to a new one when it switches screens or loads races. It would be nice if all songs would just play through in the background.

Actually, I think the music in GT is great. If you don't like it, you can turn it off or just add the music you like.

If the PD puts your favorite songs for these menus, I'm pritty sure you gonna hate them after 8 months of playing, although they were your favorite ones.

Shadows of Our Pasts is a really good one too. :)

Hmm, no. You try again. The music that is talked about in the post is music such as the used car dealer music or the menu music, which is hardly any different from menu music in the past games.

haha you know what, i had gt5 on in the living room and my wife commented and said why on earth are you listening to elevator music... nuf said!

The hell are you talking about? I know what the menu music from the past games is. I have the menu music of GT2-GT4 set to play as the personal menu music for GT5. I literally hear it every time I play GT5.

The used car theme is nothing like the music from past games. The car tuning music is nothing like the music from past games. The only music that has similar thematic elements is the two Premium Dealership songs, and even those aren't the same actual songs.

i like the menu music.
most people here just have no life why whine about music in a videogame dont you have anything better to do.

I've pretty much given up on meaningful discussion in this part of the forum. I suggest you do so too, for the sake of your sanity.
