GT5's disgusting choice of music

I am disgusted at this thread. The music is so relaxing and easy to listen to, unlike some of the techno and rock crap going around these days, FIFA for example.

Reread his post closely before responding, because it would probably be better for both of us if you saw the irony in it yourself rather than me having to point it out to you.

I know he was being hypocritical. That's the part I didn't agree with. I disagreed with him about the GT Auto song. I'm sure he meant the hypocrisy to be blatantly hypocritical, but silly.

Are half of you blind? The OP was talking about menu music in NCD, OCD, GT Auto, GT Life, Pre-race music etc. Music pieces YOU CAN'T CHANGE. Either with other game BGM/PS3 Hard drive.

If you want to turn it off, you have to turn off music in ALL THE MENUS EVEN GT LIFE.

agreed with the OP (altho the strong language in the title is prolly peeving people!). I had ALL the GTs apart from PSP and GT5p, and like the menu music, but GT5s is awful. And made all the more irritating that it overides user preferences (what WAS PD thinking there!).

I've just turned all music off. But maybe that's why GT5 is more of a "sterile" souless experience for me, when I hear the menu music of GT3 it brings back good memories.
 
turned off the menu sound for a while... you get mad after some mins with this "music"

sounds bit like supermarket music...

i have the menu sound off sins gt3.
because after playing the game for 6 months you get really sick of that tunes.

Internet radio would be nice, every car should have a radio :lol: (not a bad idea actually)

That would be an awesome addition actually.

But Yamauchi's idea of innovation is seemingly limited to adding more polygons.
 
Just changed all every single bit of menu music to GT4 menu music, the game feels better already.
 
Hating the music? Change them then. If you can't change them then turn them off.

yeah, the first thing i did when i got the game was turn of all the music and horns.
before i even entered a race!!

the only music i hate is the one that plays when you are buying upgrades for you car that song is horrid and makes my ears bleed :(

Yea, the song with the kids singing is (finally)starting to get annoying. Everything I can deal with, I don't spend too much time in those screens.
 
I wouldn't say disgusting. It's not like I need a bucket when entering the UCD.
 
I do agree with you but that kind of music has been around in many of the other GT series if I believe and it does give the game that special feeling at first but then the repetitive music gets way to annoying, therefore it's now turned off!
 
I don't think GT5's menu music is "disgusting". I think it gives the game a charm and it makes you feel relaxed although i still prefer GT3's menu music more.
 
I decided to turn the music back on for a while. Partly to hear what it sounded like. And partly because I'm finally after 1,000+ days getting around to doing the license tests, so I want to hear that gold trophy music that makes you feel like king of the world for 10 seconds after a hundred retries.

It's actually not bad, although having specific music for GT Auto and the Dealers probably isn't necessary. Basically any time a screen only has 1 song it's probably a bad idea.

The in-game music is perhaps a bit bland but whatever. The problem is the pre/post race menu music. Only those two songs and so annoying, when that's a menu you will spend sooooo much time at and will see before and after EVERY event. There's no way those two songs wouldn't quickly drive me to turn off the music even if I didn't just do it by default.

You really should just be able to set custom(or standard) BGM to play seamlessly, uninterrupted, for every menu if you want. Tastes aside, that point is very fair.

this.....would have solved everything, those who like the music could enjoy and those that didn't could change it. Again I'm drawn to the lack of options in the game.

That's what I think to myself every time I play GT5! A BGM song comes on that I like, then I go to buy a car or go to the GTAuto, or tuning or whatever, then the annoying, "disgusting" music comes on. I'm thinking, WTFPD? Why the F can't I just keep listening to the BGM? Then I go back to menu and I can't hear the rest of the good song, it changes to another one? WTF kind of poor design is that?? Let me choose WTF song I want to hear and when PD!

I still, however, love the menu music from GT3 (which is aso used in GT Concept and GT4 Prologue) and this one from Gran Turismo HD:

You have a point there. I've always thought of GT5 as a game "for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts". But all car enthusiasts have different tastes in music so the custom BGM feature should settle the argument for now.
 
PD should let us choose menu music aswell!
 
I don't get tired of the music. At least this music is better than most soundtracks of most other racing games I've played. I've started to enjoy listening to when you buy/receive a Standard car. While it's a weird choice of music, I like the music played in GT Auto. It matches the lighthearted mood of the whole GT Auto experience. The only real poison to the soundtrack is My Chemical Romance, let alone a remixed song of theirs. This is otherwise (at least from the Lounge and Jazz music) the classiest and nicest soundtrack of any GT. Come on now- "Like a Bird" is one of my favorite songs in the game. The Breakbot Remix of "Baby" by Pnau (which sounds MUCH better than the original, trust me) is a great song for pre-race. I even want to see a real race having this song play in the background when the Starting Grid is being introduced.

Then again... if you don't like the music, you can always play your own music stored on your PS3 and in Playlists. I even use my Personal music for races because I got a bit sick of the music that I've selected to run in races. Since you can't play Personal BGM in online races, that gave me more reason to basically turn off music for races. If I had a good number of songs for menu music, I may even use another Playlist for that.

This is a thread of opinion. And in my opinion, I've heard much worse music in racing games. And I do tend to agree- the music from Post #82 is a great tune to listen to. I do still miss the three piano songs that play when selecting a car in Gran Turismo HD. The third one that plays is the most beautiful and is my favorite.
