GT5's disgusting choice of music

I'm going to be honest and say I've read about two posts in this thread but anyway... I love a particular song that plays before you click start race. It's got some kids singing and the song is called 'Baby'. Every time I hear it I sing it for at least the first lap... unless it's the nurburgring because that would be silly...
 
Anyone who hates only particular songs of GT5 and don't hate the others, can turn off the race music and then assign the hated music to the race music which is then turned off.
 
The Parts Shop and GT Auto music I'd love to change. I don't know how Parts Shop music got past Sony QA without someone saying "er, you know what, we could probably do with changing this porn music".

Most of menu music though is quintessential GT. I want a lot of things to change with GT6, but I don't want that dodgy Lounge music to change :D
 
The jazz on the menus is just fine, although it's not my favorite kind of jazz. I prefer jazz like this :

The GT Auto Music is neat, though I think that they should have a couple of more songs to keep from hearing the same thing over and over. The new car dealership music can be annoying, but there are some good songs. Now the music in the tuning shop, is awful! It's so annoying! The used car dealership music is boring. I've personally never liked the race music in the Gran Turismo series, and this game is no exception. So, I race with no music. Plus, it lets you hear the vehicles better. 👍

I agree. That's pure 1990s porn movie soundtrack. Maybe a hint of why it takes so long modelling a Premium car? :lol:.
 
Like someone else said I like the jazzy music of the UCD, OCD and GT Auto. Its a calm break from the pumping Drum & Bass I have set up to play in other menus and during the driving but its set way low for driving cause I'd rather hear the cars.
 
The only music that is almost unbearable to listen to is the OCD/UCD music. ^^^^^ 👍

Sails of Charon is the only good song imo.
 
They just need to allow the player to turn off the stupid repetative music for UCD, OCD, pre-race, and buying cars delivery music. Even if it was good music it becomes unbearable after being force fed for any length of time. "Turn it off" is not an option for above problems because then there's no music anywhere.

I actually like sime of the BGM.. but that isn't what the problem is.
 
I would like to replace "the enternainer" with "don't kick your self", please.. :)
 
I think the music in GT5 is awesome, but soon I'm going to be adding lots of progressive house stuff like deadmau5 to spice it up a bit :D The title of this thread is stupid though, how the heck can music in a video game be disgusting? Does the OP thinks that mp3 files on the disk are disgusting?
 
The Entertainer in GT Auto is particularly irritating, and the interpretation is awful. Anyone who knows anything about Ragtime should know that it's meant to be played 'straight' rather than rubato and with 'swing'.
 
I like all the menu songs, except for the one with the singing before the race. But the others are awesome, especially the ones for when you finish a race
 
I really don't like the UCD music. It sticks out noticeably just in terms of sound quality from the rest of the music. It sounds like a late 90s midi file, very phony sounding instruments.

I don't like the tuning shop either, but at least it sounds good (i.e realistic sounding drums, slap bass).
 
I adore very single bloody song that is in the menus etc. :D Honestly, they rock. 👍
 
I quite like it. There is no such thing as disgusting music, not when talking about genres in general at least. It's all a matter of taste. The menu music in GT5 is not the type of music I listen to, but I still find it pretty nice, kind of relaxing.
 
I like all of the music except the Tuning Shop menu music which, although perfectly fits that menu, I just don't like.
 
the only music i hate is the one that plays when you are buying upgrades for you car that song is horrid and makes my ears bleed :(
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again: They still put music in video games?

I kind of liked the song in the intro movie, but as soon as the game loaded I shut it off. Music is barely necessary in games that don't use it to set the mood for a story or to accentuate an action sequence. Racing games and sports games don't really need it. Regardless of if it's good or bad, it's going to become annoying as hell by the 1000'th time you've heard it, particulary for things like GT where you tend to spend long periods of time staring at a menu or with the game idling as you do something else.

So just turn it off, play your own through another device, and laugh whenever someone comes online and you hear that loud annoying repetitive (but quintessentially GT) song playing through his or her microphone.

BTW calling a piece of music "disgusting" can be a compliment as well. It is a further elaboration on the convention of calling excellent pieces "sick," frequently regarding things also referred to as "brutal."
 
I think it's ok. I use my own songs though go drum and bass
 
I like all the jazz and lounge music. Very relaxing.

I'm sorry to inform you, but 'good' music is completely based on opinion. Something you find good, somebody else may hate etc. With the exception the GT Auto music (srsly, wtf), the rest of the music is 'bad' only in YOUR OPINION.

GT Auto song is great. UCD/OCD very bad.
 
Are half of you blind? The OP was talking about menu music in NCD, OCD, GT Auto, Tuning shop, Pre-race music etc. Music pieces YOU CAN'T CHANGE. Either with other game BGM/PS3 Hard drive.

If you want to turn it off, you have to turn off music in ALL THE MENUS EVEN GT LIFE.

The music that came with the game is garbage... As apposed to gt2's rob zombie, gt3's lenny kravits opening video with judast priest and motley crew in races, and gt4's van halen opening video with panama... And gt5 has MCR for their opening video with a really unorthidox piano song nobody in the north american region has ever heard of... Hwut gives PD !?!

Yeah, you just fell into the same piece of hypocrisy. And I know you aren't being sarcastic.

Reread his post closely before responding, because it would probably be better for both of us if you saw the irony in it yourself rather than me having to point it out to you.
 
all the music has some crazy bass lines...sounds great on a home theater setup
 
The GT series has always had terrible music so why change it now! It`s become one of GT`s classic highly irritating features that everyone dislikes but PD keep it in the series.
