Shift 2 was 95% the best racing game ever. Pity the 5% it wasn't Good was the only part that mattered. handling.
Hence why I drop the 'f' from the title when i talk about now.
#1 At least it had races! To be honest I found all of Shift 2 painfully dull. Easy to win races, no car customisation except liveries, arcade physics (it is an arcade game after all), the dodgy, fairly ***** story and dull graphics meant I only did two races.
#1 At least it had races!
#2 It was pretty much a GT3 series game with some additional stuff, didnt expect customization myself!
#3 The physics weren't even Arcade, they were hellspawn and the worst I have played from a high budget title
#4 Story in a racing game...at least it tried and had a sensational OST!
Yeah I know GT6 has more cars, but is that really better? Most of the cars in GT are dupes and look like the belong on the PS2. Shift 2 has about 150 cars (not much but good enough for me) after DLC.
There was a fat guy that told you what to do.There was a story in Shift 2?
Sounds to me you didn't put in the effort to set up your wheel nor the advanced steering settings in game young man!Shift 2 was 95% the best racing game ever. Pity the 5% it wasn't Good was the only part that mattered. handling.

Hmm, maybe i will experiment with it once i finish chasing rabbits.Sounds to me you didn't put in the effort to set up your wheel nor the advanced steering settings in game young man!
I spent the past days doing that and the handling is very enjoyable now although i have to agree it's not as realistic as GT or FM.
But if you are willing to look over that, Shift 2 is the most enjoyable racing game i have played in years.
Hmm, maybe i will experiment with it once i finish chasing rabbits.![]()
I think you might be getting this mixed up with Grid 2?Something about getting likes on social media with your great driving in order to progress, which was fitting because playing it felt a bit like helping your great grandma set up a twitter account.
Different game amigoThe fact that Japanese cars go faster when drifting according to the physics was a dealbreaker for me. Drifting in the original Grid was fun, that was about it.
When you do let me know, i'll share my settingsHmm, maybe i will experiment with it once i finish chasing rabbits.![]()
The joke is that Shift 2 is a better racing "GAME" than GT5 and 6. The physics in Shift 2 aren't that great but it never claimed to be a driving sim. What it did simulate to me was actual racing. The AI would actualy race you and the sounds are great in that game. Sounds may not be accurate to real life but it felt "alive". Not just engine/exaust, but rocks hittin the underside of your car or cracks and suspension movement.
And then the cars. Yeah I know GT6 has more cars, but is that really better? Most of the cars in GT are dupes and look like the belong on the PS2. Shift 2 has about 150 cars (not much but good enough for me) after DLC. The big difference is that you can do so much with the cars in Shift. Almost every car in that game can go from street car to race car to over the top machine that should only be driven by a lunatic and thats one reason for me to like Shift more than GT. Oh and E30 M3!!!
Only now has the GT come up with a tracklist that competes with Shift. The only thing people could critisize Shift for is the physics and I can understand that. But to me Shift beats GT in all other parts and you should blame PD.
This member is right on the mark. The fan boys though will never consider an alternative which is a shame. Shift 2 has a lot going for it and as our Friday night race league game it is unrivalled. better sound, better feel, better immersion. GT is very ambitious and very artful and very immersive for a car fanatic but it is not nearly as visceral as a racer.
I've been playing shift 2 the past days, and the tracks have absolutely nothing in common with GT, nor does the career mode, nor the AI, nor the sounds... nor anything actually.
And that's a good thing!
150 cars is enough when you get the options Shift 2 offers. Almost every car can go from street car to mildly modded street car, semi race car, race car and full blown lunatic machine. Weight reduction in shift is actually visible! But I'm sure you won't get it (again). So let's say hypothetically, you eradicated all of the cars you deemed to be "dupes and look like they belong on the PS2", out of GT6. That would still leave way more cars than 150 from Shift 2, which you stated was good enough for you. The logic is not very sound here...
i hate shift, and for only 1 reason.
steering lag!!! $30 bucks wasted!
PD does not copy anybody; that's why their games are stuck in the 1990's still.

...what track would that be, pray tell? The indoor carting track with all the bright neon lights , Reminded me of a track in NFS Carbon
So I was not the only one complaining about increased input lag after all.And don't forget that it is about as bad in GT6 as well:
