GT6 Copying NFS ?

*Chuckles* Despite you saying *you think*, that isn't true at all after I tried it... Dem icy physics.

I also put "some" in there. Ever driven on ice? Nothing like Shift 2.

I'm gonna try and make some vids of replays of mine of Shift 2; i get the feeling people just judge it straightaway because it bares the NFS title, or in case they played it they encountered bad handling racing cars (because the default settings are not good), and never bothered to adjust the settings and the suspension.

I really enjoy tuning cars and in the end it's rewarding and you can race some real gems against good competition on classic circuits. Something that GT sadly does not have as they screwed up the race formula with GT5, and never bothered to make the AI faster.

I can race a porsche on Hockenheim 1982 at dawn, that's a good experience for me :)

Looking forward to seeing some of your vids:tup: Might ad a few of my own if I can get my phone to work the way it should.

Having alot of fun today just tuning cars and racing them. Mostly like to do cars that can be driven on the street but also taken to the track. Like to keep it between 500 and 1000 points but also like to go overboard sometimes and stuf a V10 in an E30 M3, max tune it and see how long I can keep it on the track:D

@Topracer
So adding some nice real-life tracks that should be added a long time ago and an improved leaderboard system (which is based on the same concept as was in GT5 Prologue, much earlier than Shift 1) make you think of "copying NFS"?
The star system is the only real similarity to Shift 1. But stars are also used in other games. Call of Duty MW2 & MW3 and even Angry Birds.

He thinks that. You clearly think something else. Neither of you are able to provide anything other than your own opinion. He also said "in some things" so you can't even quantify which part may or may not be true. Go easy, tiger.
I am going easy, lol. I just don't agree with his opinion, that's all.

Yep, I have... In Shift 2. :sly:

I fail to see how having certain game features, effects and certain tracks is considered "copying" someone else.

Wait, they fixed the input lag? I was thinking about buying Shift 2 amidst the disaster of GT5's original DLC release, but the input lag and that "sucked into the wall" thing scared me away.

Granted, now I would probably just get it on PC instead.

You're pretty good at trolling:tup:
Butbutbut, I not trolling? Anyway, since you guys enjoy it, that's good, but I can't handle it. :)

Same here @Tornado, those were other two issues I had with Shift 2. @_@

If there was a mod that fixed the physics just like in NFS Shift, I recommend getting the PC one all the way. 👍

I don't experience lag with my xbox version, and on pc there are enough mods that fix all of it.
I think these problems were happening at release maybe but have been patched? That or it might be the PS3 version.

I'm pretty sure that a few things such as tracks, a leaderboard system, & etc doesn't make GT6 a copycat off of NFS.

........But that's no reason for me to start making whiny topics about it. Every game has it's problems. Deal with it. If you don't like the game, don't play it.

And if you love the BMW E30 so much, i'm sure there's some kind of BMW-only game out there. If you think it's a valid argument why Shift is better than GT6, think again.

God this freaking argument again, if you don't like what other people make threads about DON'T READ THEM. Even better, don't reply to them! Dumbest argument ever. OP has a valid topic for discussion. Take your trolling elsewhere por favor.

No disrespect to the OP, but I kinda disagree. Many sims have the same tracks or similar features or effects so I again don't see how its copying someone else otherwise that means everyone is copying everyone.

There's no problem with that. The OP noticed some similarities, and posted why he thinks PD may be copying. Doesn't mean he's right, or that people have to agree. I hold the same position you do, I don't agree for the same reason you don't agree. It's people that post with the "if you don't like it play something else" that irritates me. It's a troll response.

Ok I present to you my maiden youtube video!

I just did a warmup lap with a classic 911 from '73 on the old Hockenheim (with the long straights), vid clearly shows that most of the cars handle just right in Shift 2, and most can be tuned to totally fit your style.

You will also notice that at the end of the video, I screw it up on my flying lap at corner entry of the second chicane :D. I touched the grass and span wide, showing that the physics in the game can be better than GT in some regards, as curbstones, jumps and grass affect your traction and stability a lot more:

ps. I made this video with my smartphone, so the image is not the sharpest and as my nose was a bit stuck you might hear mister dog breathing once in a while ;)

I love shift 2 to do hot laps, the telemetry mode wich is very complete and helpful (pd could learn from that) and with proper tire pressures, wheel rotation setup and right mindset(meaning very patient) i can spend lots of time very imersed and entertained (while driving exclusively on the black stuff). The bad part is they stopped developing a very good foundation. Looking fwd for pcars...

Instead of a car collection, there are my select few cars that are ever evolving, keeping me much more time on track than most games...
There wasn't isn't a single perfect setup or trio of setups, they are almost infinite, and 5º track temp increase/decrease can ruin a perfect setup for the other temp...
Sims are not perfect but sometimes they capture the proper feelings you get irl. And shift 2 to me, has captured more "proper feelings" than gt. Specially speed.
I hope they are far from finished with the tire model because gt6 was a good move in some directions.

I'll leave this here, this is a replay, I was using a DS3, no assists including ABS, full damage and wear, AI on hard, car is slightly tuned but almost stock, audio is too low though and you can hear me breathing and sick, the quality sucks but it illustrates that you can easily be smooth and be fast at a track like Bathurst in Shift 2 with a full grid of GT3 beast machines. (keep in mind that this is a replay and for some reason the game reduces the steering animations to minimum, so if the wheel looks too stiff, it's the replay causing it and not the actual gameplay/physics/handling, etc)

Great driving guys:tup: These vids are proof that most people exaggerate alot about the physics of Shift 2 being bad.

Is it just me or is that track 3 miles wide in Shift?

It is pretty wide, the bumps are there but the developers probably made it wider to please EA.

Here's another video I just recorded (with a potato) of a bone stock 370z drifting for those who like to argue that drifting is impossible in Shift 2.

Impossible? The easiest game I've drifted on by far.

I agree, tell that to the legions of haters of the game that can't seem to be able to even complete the tutorial.
Even with the input lag on PS3(Before I messed with settings) I was having a blast! In fact, I was in love with SHIFT up until I bought a Corvette, and maybe it's just my driving but it just ruined the game for me. :scared:

Where did you find the hypocricy? What the hell are you talking about? "Worst handling" is your opinion. I know GT has better physics but Shift 2 is not as bad as some people make it out to be. In some things I think the physics in Shift 2 are better than GT. Launching a big HP car in Shift is not as easy as just pressing X and go.

And it's not about making my cars "look pretty". It's about being able to turn my street car into a full blown race care and make it look the part. You call me a hypocrit while you're the one defending a game that all it has got going are good physics and many cars. Everything else in GT just feels lifeless and boring.

I own Shift 2 and yes, I felt it was that bad. Who uses the X button on Any racing game/sim? The Hypocrisy was you complaining of duplicate cars or whatever you deemed unworthy in GT and saying 150 cars of Shift 2 was adequate enough for you, when as I mentioned, if you removed all the "duplicate" or "less than premium" cars, there would still be triple the amount that Shift 2 had. Yet that wasn't "adequate enough for you still".

But it's whatever.

I tune every car in any game/sim that allows me to. That means I tune my cars in Shift 2 also and the physics just are what they are.

PS...I don't need any video, I own the game.

Now you're just making stuff up and being stupid. It's not about the amount of cars. Taking out the dupes in GT wil not make the cars feel any less lifeless. I don't care how many cars GT has!

I'm sorry that's simply just isn't true. I road race and time attack in real life. Running over curbing, touching grass never effected my stability to the point of spinning completely off course the very INSTANT my tire touched it. If it did, I wouldn't have a car anymore. I've come off banks at 140+mph and breaking into left/right hand sweepers, have run off into the grass before, etc. Cars do not act that drastic on a road course in real life. And it's not because the driver had some super suspension tuning to prevent it.

Before you said GT's physics is all it had going for it and everything else was lifeless and boring. Now the cars are lifeless and boring too...lol. Sure if that's how you feel. In real life, the only cars on a race track that would give you a sensation like that of Shift 2, are cars with Air Shifters and 8-900+whp and just a handful to drive. In Shift 2....EVERY car is like that even if it has 200hp. Sorry but 200hp is just not that dramatic.
