Please share any info or tip, regarding how to cope or solve this problem.

I'm avoiding to play gt6 due to this problem that may cause damage to my ps3.

Thanks!

I have the first 60GB original model PS3. I can't play GT6, plain and simple. It shuts down the PS3 after 10 - 15 min in game.

It's not overheating, since I can play every other game for hours straight, including GT5, CoD, FIFA... First I thought it was, I have it clean up and resolded by a professional, new thermal paste (Artic Silver 5) and it's running every other game fine as day one. I always took a good care of it, the system is always cleaned and had a vacuum once in a while.

I've tried running it with a directed cold air from a portable air conditioner, and after 10 min it shuts down the same way. The PS3 was not even warm.

I've tried lowering the resolution, from 1080 to 720, then 480p, but even so, it shuts down the same way.

The GT6 has this bug which prevents playing. The maximum time I did play was about 15 minutes. Please fix that PD, I'm so frustrated.

Man, I know how you feel. Me to very frustrated with this issue. What I want to know if the problem is hardware or ours old fat consoles (80g MGS4 console) or is a software bug?

We need to validate or identify the problem.

If the problem is hardware we must look for the latest ps3 model.

If the problem is software we must wait for tthe next update to validate.

I read that also people with the super slim console having problem.

PLEASE ANY ONE CAN VALIDATE THIS ISSUE.

I have the 80g mgs4 console with upgraded fan, new power supply and new thermal paste. Never had the same shutdown problem before GT6.

HELP OR COMMENTS ARE VERY APPRECIATE...

THANKS!

I have a CECHL01 fat PS3 originally with 80GB drive, and so far, absolutely no freezing issues with GT6. It does emit fan noise when busy

I am having an occasional freeze as well. I have the newer 120gb Slim. Cleaned regularly. No issues on any other games except gta v. I deleted game data and reinstalled, it worked for a day or so then froze again. Is PD aware of this issue?

Yes, original fan. Only change is that I upgraded the drive to a 500GB 7200 rpm version.

Is there a replacement fan option?

Yes, there is a 19 blade replacement fan. WHISPER

I also erase game data, lowered the display drfinition to 720p.

The crash problem continues.

I opt to not play until we identify the problem here in gtplanet.

The fat PS3 is being pushed to it's limits with this game and, with many people, it can't cope. A lot of people it works fine with, but a lot not so. Here's a couple of threads about it which may help or not (could be some advice etc in them):

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gt6-continuosly-freezes.291270/

There may be others but those are the only threads I have seen

Thanks for your cooperation...

So, the solution is to replace the ps3 for a modern super slim model?

What about if the next 1.03 update fix the issue?

I can't imagine that the next update would fix it as it is an issue with the architecture of the PS3 itself rather than a bug within the game but I don't know enough to say for certain. You could wait for the update and see, perhaps someone with a bit more knowledge on these things can give more advice. Sorry I can't help more but I'm not an expert on PS3 systems...what I know about this issue is just what I read in those threads and on the PSN forum

your PSN name is meinkampf? what the hell?

Hi everyone. I've been having the same problem with my 60GB PS3 and a physical copy of the game. I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem. I already replaced the internal fan, thermal paste and power unit and the problem still persists. GT6 is the ONE game that has this sort of behaviour. I wonder if this game is overclocking the CPU and/or putting huge stress on the Blu-Ray drive. Is anyone with the PSN version of the game having the same problem?

I think there is, none of other games makes my PS3 shuts down, I can play CoD, F1 2013 or GT5 for hours.

I borrow my brother's PS3, first 80 GB version, CECHE, and I'm playing hours since last week. The game is awesome although is easy.

I'll keep updating my old 60GB, maybe a patch can fix it.

I think my ps3 slim system is damaged. After i was playing GT6 on nordschleife my track dissapeared , I stopped playing and now when i turn on my ps3 and put in GT6 it gives me a trophy sync error . i restored my ps3 , rebuilt database etc... still not working , i gave up

I'm pretty much pissed right now cause GT6 is the only game I play..... :(

Can anyone confirm if the new super slim model is not affected with this crash problem?

Need to know before I make the purchase decition.

I don't think that it depends on which version of a ps3 you got.
I'm playing with several friends and their versions are all different, 60GB, 320gb Slim, the newest slim and I can tell you that everyone of them is experiencing these crashes.

After the, no joke - twenty-fifth shutdown my PS3 started to get loud. It sounds like there is a heavy access on the harddisk and drive. As if the PS3 would be very very busy all over the time.

Im really scared that this game will break my PS3. Just a few more shutdowns until the system is done....
My system is 3 years old but since GT6 it has shutdown more often than in its complete lifetime. I doubt that this is the purpose of the game.

So instead of filming movies PD should TAKE ACTION NOW, before the first Threads start like "GT6 has broken my PS3" and if that will be somehow/eventually the case,I could imagine that user would start a ********* against PD and Sony and the house of cards will collapse.

And why, oh why, gets a game released with major problems like above mentioned? Yeah, money for sure.

Mine always crashes before 20 minutes of gt6 playing time.

Man I would love to play and enjoy the game, but less than 20 minutes per playing time is a nightmare.

I really want to solve this issue. Still trying to identify the rootcause. Ps3 model, software, game version, ps3 hardware...

I wonder if this problem is intencional. So we the players are force to purchase new systems...

The root cause of the crashes is, quite simply, that the game is pushing the PS3's architecture to it's absolute limits and, like anything at the limit, will be more prone to issues. Crashes can happen to any of the systems but is more likely with the older fat systems (I have a 1 year old 500GB slim and have had 3 crashes in total....and I have played for 3 or more hours every day since release). Would buying a new PS3 system enable you to play for more than 20 minutes? More than likely. Will buying a new system completely eliminate crashes? Unlikely....but, chance are it will be less of a problem with a new system.

EXACTLY. I was afraid of writing these lines but my thoughts are the same!

Ermm......No! Do you really think a game/system developer is stupid enough to do something like that? If they did that and then an insider leaked it, the lawsuits would be very costly. Yes, game crashes are frustrating and downright annoying but they are not intentional.....I have played PC games that crash way more frequently than every 20 minutes on release (admittedly they were patched but that is the difference I guess...PCs have greater scope for patching). Take a system to it's limit like GT6 does with the PS3's systems and then tell me how they should fix the crashes that are caused by the system being pushed to it's limit?

True... But I can imagine they are stupid enough to overclock the hardware forgetting older models have a lower heat tolerance point. Anyway, I'm still waiting for people with older models playing the PSN version to say if they are having the same issue or not.
