@photonrider , maybe some new guideline if you don't put race up within 3 days it goes to next in line.

Valid point, as it has happened before; let's give some thought to it and we'll hash it out in the weekend - remember as soon as the new events are posted by PD it does take some time for players to settle down and figure out what best challenge can be farmed from the event. Also - a player given the winning Design ticket may not have time themselves, or the inclination, or even the right amount of the enthusiasm for the game at the time.
As @another_jakhole put it so well in another thread - GT is not an everlasting gobstopper; so we stop sucking on it occasionally when our gums ache and our tongues are sore, but we eventually get back to sucking on it. We want it to last till the next gob comes along! Not that we avoid the other candies available either. :mischievous:

So . . . on to the next round of battles - I have to say that while I have been extremely busy (friends will note I'm hardly ever at the console) the battles that are heating up in here makes for some suspenseful spectating, and I do keep an eye on the GT6 AI Hub if nothing else.
One doesn't know when a hare's-breath* of a win will be pulled out of the hat. :)
And by whom.

Interesting differences in time with the Schwimmwagen - both AI and players. We need to see a rabbit drive the Schwimmwagen. :dopey:

BBL. 👍

*hair's-breadth, too.

Congrats to steve nfs on his first trophy! 👍 Special mention for nowayback and Baron Blitz Red who bagged doubles this time. 👍 👍
OP was updated. As usual - if there are any typos or errors, let me know.
Winners who are designing events may use it for this Seasonal or the next (same level) or decide to invoke the nowayback Clause and pass it on to someone of their choice. Please make sure the person you are passing the buck to hasn't skipped town.

Some further thoughts on the AI and this game:
Imagine a repeatable race in which a player is given a vehicle (PV-1) that can just barely beat the leader, but only if the player does their very best; if they slack off for even an instant, the leader will take the race.

Most races will be a fight to the finish; and the player will lose some as well as win some.

This would make for some very close and exciting repeatable racing - taking into consideration that the whole field can't be at the finish line at the same time, then it stands to reason that the player will also have to negotiate his or her way though the field to reach the leader and 'barely' win the race.
This also provides plenty of opportunity for the game engine that drives the race to engineer various scenarios using that particular grid of AI to defeat the player (since that is its objective) as the race is repeated.
GT6 provides this.

It goes further:

Imagine once the player has used this vehicle (PV-1) to master that particular field to consistently win - in fact to win at will (grinding) - that they then quit that field and call for another field that is (according to the stipulated levels) still good enough to challenge the player to barely beat the race.
Again, using PV-1, the player takes on the second field.
What is the possible outcome?

In the first race if PV-1 was good enough for close races till the player had so mastered the race after several races, that they could win at will, then the second field should offer more of the same - a leader to catch up and overtake just before the finish line, and a line of other AI in the race to dodge, battle with, or overtake in getting to the leader, all at the maximum pace possible with PV-1.

Anything else?

The game engine, based on statistics collected from the player's previous performances with that field, may incrementally increase the speeds of the leader and the AI so that the race would be a little harder with PV-1.

And even more?

The game engine factoring in the previous driving lines the player used - and possible points-in-time the player may be at points on that line, may also alter the driving lines and times of the AI in a repeated race so as to again upgrade the difficulty for the player.

And even more?

Programmer cheats.
We don't know about these - though we can spot them being used; a most obvious one is an AI car performing beyond the performance it would normally possess for that stipulated level.

That's just the scenario of doing races with 2 different fields in a GT6 race with PV-1.

How many possible fields are there before the game engine runs out of options in that department?
There are as many as 24 in an event - though some recycle in as short as 8 fields. Some races that are limited to special or exclusive cars have limited amounts of fields to recycle (or blend for different handicap spreads) while other races have huge amounts of cars available for use by the game engine and so it is possible to draw out diverse fields and even rarely seen cars in such races.

So we have a driving game where a player (if he has PV-1) can have hundreds of races - all of them close enough for the win ratio to be 50/50 (arguably the best ratio for suspenseful racing) from just one particular race.
If the player had a choice of PV-1s - say ten different PV-1's to use for a particular race, then this mutiplies that tenfold.
Further - if there are hundreds of different races like this (various stipulated levels/multiple grids offered for 'barely' won wins with PV-1) then this pushes the amount of different and unique races even higher.

If the races are refreshed every two weeks, this starts pushing the amount of differing races possible to an astronomical level. No player would even find it possible to do them all unless as a full-time job - and they still wouldn't run out of possible races as long as PV-1 can be changed while yet providing the player capability to match the fastest rabbit if the player runs PV-1 to its maximum.

GT6 provides all this - consistent players who play A-Spec with the AI right into the heart of the game - repeating race after race with a particular PV-1 or racing field after field in the same event will have observed all this.
In fact, may have come to realise that the only thing that limits GT6 in terms of variety of races/PV-1s offered is time - when one applies the game engine tactics outlined above with hundreds of cars and dozens of tracks, as well as continuous replenshment of possible race/car combos via Seasonals.

But all this depends on PV-1. No PV-1 - no game.

In effect - if the player had PV -X (which is ten times faster than PV-1 at all stipulated levels) then the races are going to be ten times easier for the player, assuring almost 100% wins all the time, and rather boring racing all around.
And likewise - if the player had PV+ (which is ten times slower than PV-1 at all stipulated levels) then they are going to find the races definitely more difficult than using PV-1 - as we have imagined from the beginning of this analysis PV-1 is the ultimately balanced machine that enables the closest racing for a player for a particular race.

So what is PV-1 and how do we acquire it?

Again - consistent A-Spec players would have found the formula out fast enough and even a casual gamer might have grasped the concept quickly after a few races:
PV-1 = PS X V , where PS = Player Skill and V=Vehicle chosen.

As can be seen then PV-1 is a variable, and the game engine has to deal with millions of variables, or as many Player-skill/Vehicle combos make a particular vehicle PV-1 for a particular race.
This is particularly well illustrated in the Schwimmwagen event we just conducted.

If I drop the performance of my vehicle a tad more (which I did) I could have the closest races ever (which I did) since that board shows that the rabbits are actually close enough to catch me up and beat me if I made a mistake. Ultimately it was win one, lose one, with the Schwimmwagen making it across the line (once with only 00:00:018 to spare) with thousandths of a second between First and Second.
Repeated fields gave me the same thrills -with more defeats as the PP on my Schwimmwagen kept dropping (and alternately as the rabbits started to get 'faster' and push me to drive the Schwimmwagen at the max I could do with the settings and tune I was using.)

Let's look at the Baron's board.
In his case he has a vehicle that is far in excess of PV-1 for him (if he was actually looking for a 'close' race) - maybe a PV-5 or PV-6. His rabbits are maxed out, the game engine is maxed out, the programmer cheats are maxed out - there is nothing the game engine can do to beat the Baron in that particular race when the Baron is using the Schwimmwagen he is using to put almost 20 seconds between himself and Second.
For the Baron to actually get a proper race reflective of his actual skills, then he has to turn that Schwimmwagen into his PV-1 - which then would be a vehicle where his fastest times would be level with the fastest times that the lead rabbits are doing.

Looking at it this way is one way of understanding not only how complex and wide-ranging is GT's scope in offering up possible races but also why many players will never have the time to do it all.
Even leaving everything else from TTs to Photography aside.
Knowledgeable players know enough to pick any race, pick a car, and race it once to know how much to tweak that car for that track factoring their personal skill set to turn it into PV-1 for hours and hours of breathless racing that is not based on how fast the races are run but how close the finishes are.

I know there are players out there who like to run away from the pack and win that way and that is the time PV-5 or -6 may come in handy (as well as for grinding) but for the greatest enjoyment of close racing then finding your PV-1 for the particular race is crucial.

All our tests have shown that the rabbits are flexible - and will logically flex their running times to give a player close racing, and the closest possible racing when they 'sense' that a player is using their vehicle at PV-1 level for a particular race.
Repeated races have also shown that the AI familiarise themselves with a player's tactics and may prepare for such when a race is repeated.

Now all we need to make this AI more human is to make them illogical. That being a hallmark of what makes a human human.

Hey hey people!

This time 'round, the Expert Level event seems to be a little on the harder side, especially if you've been reading the associated thread that goes along with it.

The main key to this one is to race clean... SQUEEKY clean is an absolute must, especially in the top 6 spots. Otherwise the AI get an insane boost of power and speed and will leave the majority in their dust. And that's with us racing in the fastest of LMP's.

I was going to pass the buck and have someone else design an event, but it wouldn't be fair. So instead, I am going to ask people to do something that will be a real challenge... take on the fastest AI LMP class opponents in a NON LMP car.

The "Don't Try This At Home" trophy...

Rocket around the beautiful Sierra Andalucia course and give us your best effort to achieve the best position and fastest time as you possibly can against true race cars. The car you will be using is NOT a true race car, but has the numbers in every category to level the playing field.

Take on the field in this...

peugeot-vgt-3.jpg

The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo car.

Measuring out at 706 pp, it has 918 hp, 653 ft-lb's of torque to push the 875 kg body to insane speeds. Personally, I added 25 kg's to it at position -50 and adjusted power to 99.9% to get the 700 pp required for this event. Tuning is available and highly recommended.

Best position or if you can win the event, best time will take home the trophy! Have fun everybody!!!

Cheers

@photonrider 2 corrections on my final times . Karmann 4:28.668 and 2CV 8:34.632, report #782

One judge was missing, another was found sleeping it off under a table; both were fired, the results were reset, the French Connector trophy was taken out of Ed-Night's hauler and brought over to nowayback's trailer with much screaming, yelling, and flaming torches held high.
Nobody dared stop the nowayback camp.
The French Connector Trophy now proudly sits on nowayback's mantle to the unbridled delight of all his girlfriends.

photonrider was taken to a corner and suitably punched in the mouth for causing such chaos.

Wow, Thks Photonrider.

You're welcome. Steve . 👍 Thanks for participating - whether we win or lose it's great to see those leaderboards fill up, most of them with just seconds between the final times.

Am I got to design an event race ?

Not this time around - only some events carry that Ticket. I guess that is what makes winning one of the tickets actually special. You did, however make it into the OP - permanently. Or at least till we're all done here, and move on with this to the next GT. :D

Just gotta say @photonrider , that's quite the Lady Bug you're sporting as an avatar. ;) As a child of the '60's myself, I know there were a few things around to achieve such colourful dreams... are we having a flashback by any chance???

Cheers

My parents were flower people - I was a sixties brat, too
It was a good time.
The avatar is a Hot Wheels, BTW ;)

Congrats on the double, Baron, and good challenge, too; will be interesting to see some new faces challenge the old dogs, whatever times are posted.

Damn straight it was a good time... sometimes I miss the simpler times and the things that went with them, but wouldn't take away the things I've seen either. We've both seen the progression of gaming from its infancy and how it's progressed to present day. Pretty cool IMHO.

Thanks for the compliment, I certainly wasn't expecting to win anything, let alone the Expert event. Hope you enjoy the challenge btw, it's a great car, and surprising in its abilities.

Cheers

Edit: Hi, Moose, just caught your post after the edit, but added your time. Good to see you have a stab at this; also great to compare times as usual. 👍

'The heat is on . . .' ? :dopey:

As usual, after a few days of gaping flabbergasted (one way or another) at the new offerings that PD has placed on the table, we have taken off for the week of mayhem that will leave us exhausted and (possibly) fuming by the weekend before we get ready to wrap up again.
Time flies, especially for those of us with full-time responsibilities elsewhere, and the Seasonals can come and go with a rush.
I have sat down only to the Beginner's so far, and that only with one vehicle - so as can be seen I need to get hustling if I am to get my name up there with some sort of 'respectable' time. :D

I will be updating the OP tonight - all fastest times will be culled and placed in their relevant leaderboards

Thanks, J.T.
This is not the first time this chicanery has come to pass - the last time one of your trophies ended up on the front stoep of MTM79's trailer; he took one look out his window and called me right away.
Fortunately all's well that ends well.

This entry is good for 2 events, @hall90 ; do you wish to enter it for both?

I will stick with the Beginner Level: F-150 Lightning '03 for Fastest Time. 👍

As you wish. 👍

Remember we are also hunting for the fastest rabbit, and your entry has a very fast rabbit in it; I don't see anything in the rules to forbid you entering that same result for The Rabbit Scorcher. The same applies to @DiasabledRacer's SVT F-150 Lightning entry.
As well, both of you have not reached the 3 trophy mark yet, so you are eligible to have a whack at both - and if possible, even win both trophies - since there is no Whoosier Rule attached to either Event, and one of the events is off limits to the aliens (yup, those guys with the spotty foreheads, beady eyes and looking like they just guzzled a quart of 15W50.)
At this point any player with less than 3 trophies can snag as much as 3 trophies in this present round of events.
I will, however leave you both to enter it as you wish till whenever the Seasonals end.

The reason I set up the SVT F-150 events like that that was to compare runs - running to make the AI run faster is not the same as running to snap the rubberband. In this case - SSR5 - the race is so short that snapping the rubberband or jumping out of the lead AI's racing window is well nigh impossible, so the boards are also showing fast rabbits sniffing at the tails of the hunters as they pass they line. Makes for some intense racing when one has a vehicle close to PV-1 status.

But can anyone go faster than these times in the Lightning? And if so, what would the AI do - would they show faster times that would have beaten the times of the players at the top right now? These are questions that will be answered as we go on and more timesheets are sent in and we look at the resulting timesheets from everyone. :)

nowayback's Street-Sexy '69 is also an event that is turning out to be interesting since we have the times off the Lightning events to compare with.
