You do realise that GT5 has only been released a bit over 6 months and it's a bit too early to talk about GT6 yet.
I wouldn't expect that this thread would be open for too long...

It's too early to tell, as Yamauchi said last year that GT6 wouldn't take as long to finish as GT5, before then saying that GT6 could take another 5 years to make.

Possibly an GT5-specII between GT5 and GT6.

You mean GT6 Prologue?

.....annnnnd no mentions of TT, GT3, or Prologue. It's convenient to omit trend-busters isn't it?

We're talking about the Gran Turismo franchise, not TT.

If you read in context, he's just making a comparison of how GT2 and GT4 were the second releases for their respective consoles (PSOne and PS2) and that they were released 4 years into the console's lifespan.

GT5 on the other hand is the first (major) release of GT5 and it was released later into the lifespan of the PS3, as opposed to GT1 and GT3.

Who knows what to expect with GT6...

It's kind of an awkward situation for PD as Sony doesn't seem to be too interested in releasing another Playstation right now because PS3 is finally catching on (prices being dropped, new slim model just released, and new PSN infrastructure) and PSN/Hulu/Netflix are just farrr to damn convenient now.

Unlike previous Playstations, PS3 has the ability to evolve with the market - as it already has. I'm sure the biggest trend today is the PS3 Eye, which alows the PS3 to excellently mimick Wii (who's Wii Sports and Wii Fit dominate the gaming market right now). There is still so much that could be done with PS3.

Also gaming companies still haven't exactly caught up with this generation of console in general. PS3 offers 3D gaming and Sony offers 3D ready TVs, all we need now are some 3D PS3 Eye games - tell me that isn't a great idea.

PS3 is just now coming above the depths of a dark, dark ocean is finally breathing in the fresh air of success - because it will be the console to pioneer us into the next big things in home entertainment. The opportunity is wide open for Sony, and they're in no hurry to replace the PS3 any time soon. I agree with their decision.

Sony said that they have absolutely no plans to release the PS4 any time soon
LinK: http://gamerant.com/sony-says-wii-u-nothing-new-ps4-not-coming-cj-92524/

And Sony said they didn't put a root kit on my computer. Sony also said they didn't lobby and the Bluray was superior to HDDVD. Sony also said I could just continue to use my "other OS" by not updating (read no network anymore so PS3=garbage with no update to spell it out).
Are we still listening to anything "SONY" has to say?
Can I ask.... Why ? seriously... Why ? Think about it.
I just wish PD could seperate themselves from Sony as the latter will probably tarnish their reputation in the end.

you guys are going about this all wrong... here's what will happen, the PS4 will be released on GT6.

Hmm... PD Stock ^ Sony Stock VV

Maybe if we're lucky, PD can buy Sony ! lol wishfule thinking.

I would personally prefer DLC update packs for GT5 instead of a whole new release. They could charge $10 - $30 and upgrade quite a few of the most popular cars to premium versions, and add in the most asked for tracks that are missing. That way we won't lose game progress, purchases, settings or car tunings.

Previous consoles didn't have network capability for upgrades. This coupled with the fact that that the PS3 can't handle more than GT5 has to offer makes me think Kaz will go with an update rather than a GT6 release on PS3.

It depends on what GT6 will be. GT5 is stretching the limits of the PS3 already, so don't expect radical changes for any sucessor on the PS3. If they want GT6 to be a radical improvement over GT5 (e.g. new or vastly improved engine), it will not be released on PS3. On the other hand, if GT6 will be GT5+ (e.g. engine largely identical, just different/enhanced content), it may very well be released on PS3.

I think GT6 will be released fairly soon (2 years or so), they just have to make new cars and tracks, and make minor changes to the graphics and the game engine.

Not like GT5 when they completely remade the game engine.

This. I honestly think GT6 will be out in the next 2yrs. Like you said the foundation has already been laid, if GT6 does make it on ps3, I highly doubt it will take anywhere near as long as GT5 took.

I would only want PD to hold off on GT6 for ps4 if they intend to CONSTANTLY update GT5 for the next year or so, and I mean good updates that add a lot to the game. If PD feels they don't want to put enough time into making GT5 better than I say stop wasting time with minor updates here and there and get to work on GT 6 so it can be released on ps3, basically to fill in most of the things GT5 is missing

Don't forget the inevitable PS Veta GT portable version will take a lot of resources away from GT6. For awhile at least.

This makes the most sense, so far. since we don't know what's in gt6 we can't make a guess as to will it need more performant hardware!

Kaz has said that with the constraints of the ps3 he couldn't go as far as he would have liked. Does this mean he's gone there and developed the engine and the codes been cut back for gt5? we don't know.

We do know that there is a possibility that a lot more content could be added to GT5 in the short time to prolong the game longevity.

Would this addition be considered to be worthy of the title GT6, or should we accept that this additional content is only sold or gifted as DLC for GT5.

Should They change the naming structure and depart from the past? Prologue had various versions, why not GT5, should it be named GT5, spec 2 , spec3 or GT6 GT7 GT8??

There's not enough evidence to suggest any of these things, we can dream and provide feedback on what we'd like to see in future GT games. where these align with PD and Sony we might get them.

Where the technical requirements are too high, well then we might have to wait for the next gen PS device.. but it's unlikely it's release will be driven by future GT requirements, given Sony are still selling more PS3's and folks are buying new PS3's to replace old PS3's.

I just don't see a compelling business case for the console update right now.. wheres the competition at a console level (ignore GT) With regards to future GT releases the lessons learned from working around technical limitations done on ps3 and psp may help on a future game and indeed a future platform. it depends on how compatible that platform is with todays platform. They might need to completely recode for PS4 who knows? another 6 years anyone :nervous:

Enjoy what we have.👍

I think GT6 as a release title for the PS4 makes the most sense to me.

-GT5 already pushing the limit: With all the complaints about GT5 already it would make sense IMO that they would not want to just rehash what they already have with new/different tracks and new cars. That they could conceivably do within GT5. Anything really new or innovative in GT6 would seem to have to wait for newer, better hardware to run it effectively.

-Timetable: Yes, GT5 took an annoyingly long time to develop. Yes, GT6 will likely not take as long as Kaz seems to know where he wants to go. Yes, the PS3 will likely be around for another 2-4 years without a replacement. That said, I would think that PD has learned that everything takes longer than you think it will when you start. Whether they will or not I would like to see them take from now (or possibly 6 months ago) to the release of the PS4, whenever it may be, to develop the next GT. Everything people are clamoring to have in GT5 will likely be addressed. Start on car models, textures, track measurements, etc.

-Project Load: Since it doesn't look like GT6 will be the only thing in development I would expect they would save it for the next console release. Continuing development of GT5 and a PS Vita project will take away from the time to develop GT6

Anyway, just my opinion. Whether it is a PS3 or PS4 title I will still try it, though I am still having fun with GT5. 👍 When not thrashing around in GT5 I am a fan of MMORPGs so I have the patience to wait and see what they decide to do.

Less than 50 cars are not 30% out of 1000 cars, or even 200 if you only count premiums.

5 tracks is not 30% of the almost 30 released in GT5.

Allow me to quote my message once again:

A demo with ~30% of the actually new content included in GT5?
It was more than just a demo.
That was excluding "standard" cars and tracks that are clearly quick conversions from GT4/PSP (Autumn Ring, Cote d'Azur, Deep Forest, Grand Valley Speedway, Laguna Seca, Trial Mountain. If you remember, they have been the last tracks to be shown before the release date. This is probably not a coincidence).

it likely that sony re working on the ps4 and probably in conversions with pd to get the ps4 speced up high enough to run kaz's is vision

OK, I get your point.

But the thing is how much GT5 content will be reused in GT6 if it was to be released for the PS3.

My whole point on the topic is that, now that we are so far in the lifespam of the PS3, there are not much more to "squeeze", there are very few things to learn programing wise, that GT6 would only make sense as a cash cow.

You'll see GT1 was released in the middle of the life of PS1, but Sony pressured Kaz to make another release just 1 year later. How much more diferent is GT1 from GT2? Graphics wise and physics, not much.

GT3, since it was released shortly after the PS2 was released, and developers still had time to look forward, to learnt new things, and so, GT4 became a MASSIVE facelift of the saga, GT3 and GT4 have very few things in common, because of the further knowledge of the platform.

Now, they don't have that "learning cushion", they already squeezed PS3, and GT6 wouln't have that wow impact GT4 had. GT5 was just released, and even if they release GT6 by the end of next year, with PS4 around the corner, it won't improve GT5 by much.

I don't see them finishing gt5 by updates. It's too late. The seasonal events completely make a-spec pointless as you earn too much credits and XP. Also too much grinding towards the end of a-spec. Plus them completely ignoring a-spec in updates proves the point.

I don't see GT5 getting finished so let's just get on with GT6, I say. :-)

GT6 for PS3...

I am GUESSING that GT6 will be a GT5+ version as one already called it :)

More Premium cars (and newer cars)
More events
More tracks
More customisation options
but the same physics and AI. That's my guess.
