Polyphony's sole focus should now be GT6 on PS4 and nothing else. PD now know that it takes a long time to develop and model for powerful systems, and if they start preparing and developing for PS4 now, the sooner GT6 for PS4 can be released.

It also means that Polyphony can go underground and really knuckle down over the next two or three years and really pump out asset after asset, without the constant shadow of a release date hanging over them.

This time around, Sony should not announce a new GT until closer to release. Announcing GT5 so early will have done nothing for the dev team, who will have been aware of the constant pressure and clamour for a release date from the press and from fans; however you can't clamour for a release date of a game that's not announced, so Sony would be wise not to announce GT6 until they're about a year away from launch.

I would like a new title of GT on my PS3. GT6, GT5 Spec II, doesn't matter...but it all depends on what is better in terms of money...

In all honesty, why do so many assume there is a next GT game? Is it confirmed? with the processing power and 10GB / Fiber Ethernet around the corner, there is no reason why a new game developer cannot do a Browswer based racing game for the masses (all is rendered from supercomputers, what are they being used for anyway?), using a dumb PC as your terminal. Just plug in an input device of your choice, and bam.

GT6 the game is ready for 2013 release. But it maybe for either PS3 or PS4, or maybe both.
But it wouldn't be fully optimised for PS4, as most release game are not.
If PS4 comes out in 2013, and I was PD, I would release the same game for both consoles to maximise sales. And the PS4 version would obviously have native 1080p 60fps (including 3D) plus extra graphical effects and a bit more content.

One question, after reading some entries here: gt2 was a mark in a limited ( considering today's technology ) system like psone; gt4 squeezed everything that the ps2 could and couldn't give, transforming it in one of the best and entertaining racing sim so far, IMHO; PD took 6 years to launch gt5 out, and, as I remember, was uncertain by the time, how gt would work in the new ps3 system.
So, ps3 system was taken to the limit with gt5 or by the lack of work, or anything, making gt5 so defective?
If compare, for instance, Dirt 3 and gt5 ( please don't kill me ) there are so points that dirt is a way better than gt, like car detail, some point at the driving physics, dynamic ... Etc, and it is the same system...
Also, IMHO again, console user must understand that console games and consoles itself are no niche aimed, they have a mission to reach everybody that have a intention to buy, and not a skilled driver, so don't expect more than you have now, it probably tends to worst. What gt player who angers gt5 flaws need to know is that there is computer games like rfactor, simbim race series, and so that can fill the need of more realism in a race simulation. Love gt5 as the way is, a compendium of car history, that allow you to drive and compete, race against other players, and try out others.

I think GT5 had an imbalance in work load, it took them 6 months to do the game and 5 years to do the premium cars. Leaving the game unfinished and not fully graphically optimised to the hardware.
Unfortunately I can see this trend continue unless they hire hundreds of new staff to do the cars. GT5 is years out of date for the new cars it is missing. GT is a whole generation behind on car models. It hasn't got popular cars from 2005 onwards.

I hope and think the PS3 has at least 4-5 years left to live and I expect GT6 to come out by the end of 2013. I know they're a patching GT5 towards perfection but in the end it's probably just a testing facility for something even better. Each Playstation generation so far had two full blown GT games.

I would say GT6 will be on the PlayStation 4. Think about it, the PS3 is already struggling to hold GT5's brilliant graphics with a constant frame-rate, therefore the PS3 won't be NEARLY powerful enough for GT6, or as others have said, a GT5 Spec II with many new cars, more events, quicker loading times, more organized online and menu system, a proper trading system, a livery editor, etc etc.

I would like to rephrase as:
GT6 will come out long AFTER the PS4

Just like the GT5 case!

I doubt this highly, as GT6 would be much easier to make; just build on top of GT5.

I really don't see another GT title coming on the PS3. If they didn't max out the limits of the PS3 with GT5 they "sound" as if they came close. I know for certain Kaz has utter the phrase "Some elements he wanted to add are beyond the PS3". I think they'll patch and patch this one for a while. But I'd bet the farm the next GT won't come until the PS4.

You are all wrong...GT6 will come when PP needs the money and that will be before PS4.
If you can get more out of less then its just stupid not to. When money is secured then GT7 will be safe for long development on PS4.
BTW, it may be so that GT6 will be PS4 compatible where you can unlock better graphics, sound and so on..a bit of a Prolouge to GT7 inbedded in GT6.

I'd like to throw gas on the fire. If Forza 4 is as awesome as they are showing, that will become the standard console game, despite the millions that PD puts into sponsoring and advertising at events. That means the pressure is on to step up the game and fast. The patches up till now have been for fixing bugs. I would suspect GT6 within a year and a half, or possibly a huge free update around the Forza 4 release date.

There is NOTHING worse then losing the popularity contest. I don't suspect PD has any intention to do so.

PS4 most likely wont be released until at least 2016. So given that, I expect GT6 to be released for xmas 2012 or the summer break in 2013. GT7 on the PS4 in 2018 :(.

Simply a prediction on the GT franchise, but the quotes below talk about the life cycle of the PS3.

"I've always said [PS3's life-cycle will be] ten-plus years and the only question mark is how long the 'plus' is," House said, adding that "ten years I think is the minimum" - SCE Europe boss Andrew House
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/307428/news/ps3-will-last-a-minimum-of-10-years-sony

"We look at our products having a 10-year life cycle, which we've proven with the PlayStation," said Kaz. "Therefore, the PlayStation 3 is going to be a console that's going to be with you again for ten years. We're not going to ask the consumers to suddenly buy another PlayStation console in five years time, and basically have their investment go by the wayside." - SCEA president Kaz Hirai

I'd bet money your incorrect about when the PS4 will come out.He is talking about what they expect for the ps3 in the long term. The exact same thing they did with the PS1(supported for 11 years),and PS2(10yrs and counting).I'm suspecting next June something will be announced at the latest, and we will see the PS4 on store shelves by 2014.As for GT6,Since the engine is already built It SHOULDN'T(doesn't mean it won't knowing PD)have to wait for PS4.I mean, all they really have to do in my eyes(my opinion in other words) is add/upgrade a **** load of cars(premium),scrap the whole "60 variations of one car"thing, hire someone WHO KNOW'S WHAT THEY ARE DOING to rebuild the online component to today's standard's,find a way around a 10gb install, add some sort of customization(livery or body),add some sort of structure to single player along with different difficulty levels and a crap load of GOOD races, and make every track look as good as the Nurb ANDDDD WALA!!! GT6

I think GT6 probably could come on PS3. Why?

You are talking that GT5 is already stretching PS3 and GT6 will have to come out on PS4. Yes, but look at GT1 to GT2 and GT3 to GT4. I have played only GT2 and GT5 (Prologue too), but I've read a bit about this. GT2 in comparison to GT1 wasn't really any better in graphics (smoke effects was different). Some said that it was even a little bit worse. GT4 and GT3? Again the same, very similiar, some say that GT3 looks better. So don't expect GT6 to be really much better in terms of graphics than GT5 (if it'll come out on PS3). GT2 and GT4 had just much more content than GT1 and GT3.

Personally, I'll be glad if they get the shadows better (less jaggies, less flickering) and I will be happy if they give us choice between 720p and 1080p. Real choice I mean - 720p has less flickering shadows or something like that. Because now 720p is just less blurry on textures (MSAA instead of QAA, if I'm right), even I can see it on my native 1080 22' monitor. But flickering is still there :(

So, in conclusion GT6 will have more content, but same graphics, as it was with GT4 and GT2.

GT3, since it was released shortly after the PS2 was released, and developers still had time to look forward, to learnt new things, and so, GT4 became a MASSIVE facelift of the saga, GT3 and GT4 have very few things in common, because of the further knowledge of the platform.

Do not agree AT ALL.

*remembers the wet night stage of GT3*

definitely on the ps4, sins they released the news the ps4 coming out 2012.

Sony didn't announce that, its rumors on websites such as Kotaku coming from production plants.

I personally think we will see PS4 revealed next year with a 2013 release, nothing to back that up, just my feeling.

It would be best forthe company to focus on correcting the problems with GT5 and work on GT6 for PS4 when the time is good.

GT6 on PS3 doesn't seem like a good idea to me considering how far this console generation has already gone.

I agree bro it woouldnt make sense

A PS3 with more RAM and an better GFX chip and GT6 will look better than real life ;P

What they did with GT5 is incredible, not even on PC we get such realistic graphics... Ok forget about the shadows, the AA and some worse textures, but the rest is crazy...

With the announce of PS4 for release next year. Gt5 is probably going to be done with within a few months. Maybe a few more updates. Doubt any new cars will be added to the game or any DLC

Do you understand the difference between an anouncement and rumor? This is not an announcement of any kind.
