Given that i can see a big graphical difference between Ps3 and Ps4 so PD would get crucified if GT7 involved 10 year old models (of cars before anyone picks up on that). They will HAVE to drop standards or update ALL to Premium if they wonna keep. 600 Prems would be enough for me if the differences were there.

I happen to think the standards are much improved and enjoying them very much. However not a fan of the oversteer control car stopies under braking and no endurance races (not sure yet)

you all fail to remember that the people who are the most hurt over the game are going to speak up the most while everyone who is enjoying GT6 is grinding away to build their garage / credits.

There's a novel definition of "enjoying".

I was initially dissapointed at the inclusion, yet again, of "Standard" cars. Why oh why are we seeing these gawdy monstrosities in a PS3 game??! Then I bought the Alfa 155 Touring Car and haven't stopped whooping with joy. Beauty is only skin deep as they say and they drive so much better than all the previous GT games. I hope by GT7 that we won't have "Standard" cars though as the difference will look huge and provide a real disconnect for me. I love hotlapping and watching replays so I am a little bit about the visuals (being a film producer does that to you - lol). Perhaps then the we will have a few insanely detailed PS4 cars and the rest will be higher def PS3 cars as the "Standard" one's. I'd be ok with that.

As a sidenote, I also own FM5.............I play GT6 way more. :)

It been mentioned somestandard models have been given the 'premium' touch ...... Anybody no which ?
Anybody know the actual number of new cars from each generation of Gt ?
Excluding same models , I no the added premium version s. Of the R32 n R33 skylines in Gt5 but there not new models just revamps ..... I would be very interested in how many new models from Gt4 to Gt5 and then Gt6

Where did you read them not loving the physics then? Go and take a look at the FM5 subforum here; the majority of people currently playing it love it, whilst the GT6 forum seems seriously divided at the moment...

And before the "don't start it" comments come; yes yes i know we are not allowed to mention the competition.
Aint no competition matey...

All I know is that my 240zg "standard" looks AMAZING!! Can't possibly tell me that looked the same on gt4 or gt5.

I agree, deffo a great improvement, you can't be disappointed with that, looks great : )

I've played Forza 5 and I can tell you the physics in GT6 is vastly superior to Forza 5.
Regarding the physics department there is room for debate; one would say FM5, the other GT6 frankly they are both good at it in their own perspective, I can't judge as i haven't tried neither of the 2.

For the excitement of the races, the sounds and the AI however it's fair to say there is no debate on who demolishes the other tough...

GT7 on PS4 will be filled with PS2 & PS3 cars. It's just PD's way of keeping content at a very high level.
To be somewhat fair though, the premiums are well future proof (especially the Photo Travel versions) and I doubt the standards will make it to the PS4. We'll probably get 500-600 cars in GT7, all premiums, and prettier than ever.

I love standards in GT5/6, however if there are standards in GT7 on PS4, I won't be buying it for a long time. I mentioned In another post (probably 2 months ago) hat my expectations, car-wise, for GT7 would be.

435 premium cars carried over from GT6 (disc+DLC, not VGT)
150 standards that are converted to premium
125 brand new cars
710 +- 24 VGT cars.

I think I'm being a little optimistic... maybe 100 S->P and 75 new cars...

I have to say the ' drivatar ' feature is probably the best thing Turn 10 have ever introduced, an evolving AI based on actual players as I understand it, that is an exciting prospect but how it is implemented is unclear, I only tried the demo. Kaz did say he wanted to make GT6 accessible to novice players which is why the novice races are very easy, maybe Forza 5 does the same thing at the very start then introduces the drivatar AI later ?

Its also based on cloud and a more powerful architecture. GT7 could utilises this on the Ps4 but for now, i think we may have to live with it.

I would rather have the standard cars to drive in a driving game than have very few cars to drive in this driving game. They have the same physics as the premium cars, and they are just as fun to drive. PD gave us a bonus this time around and touched some of them up visually and yet people still complain.

I am not sure about this. Some standard cars actually still behave like their GT4 counterparts. They do not even support clutch/stick shift.

You do have to admit it is kind of pathetic to see the 20m cr Gulf Livery GT40 and then look at the premium non-gulf livery GT40. The gulf car even has compression noise in the livery from the old tiny textures (same artifacts are present still in the RX8 LM car even though they updated the headlights they couldn't be bothered to spend 5 minutes on the livery texture). It's the same deal with the Ford GT counterparts, some are nice premium body and some are complete rubbish with an approximation of what headlights should look like while the *good one* has glass lenses on it's fog lights. And these are cars that should be able to share base assets. So they're just lazy.

Then there's the truly "ugly ones" ... the Oreca Vipers are so low poly they don't even have round fog light holes. I swear that car hasn't been touched since GT2 and is in a special kind of ugly duckling that is carried over from the PSx, not even the PS2. They're only nice as a comparison piece to see how far they've come since you can see several different "generations" of car quality mixed together.

PD has really put itself in a corner with this - the amount of time it takes to get a premium car working in game is massive and with the PS4, it'll be even more so. There's no way that they will want to go 'backwards' so seeing ps2 cars is gonna be painful on a ps4 [please no!].
PS3 cars on the PS4 will be ok though they are awesome models and with inevitable shader and lighting updates, will look even better - JUST GET THE SOUND RIGHT! :)

I like it,like the physics, love the courses added, but am terribly frustrated at lack of cockpit view gauges - a tiny bar in the corner with lines and numbers that don't match up and don't tell you what rpm you're at is useless as a tach.
Gt5 gauges overlaid on black cockpit was superior, and I hope this is a change soon.
Same for setting gears, and powerband display in garage- no graph, no details, no top speed per gear info..simple stuff missing here..

There is actually 4 levels of car now.

Original Standard
Updated Standard
Premium GT5
Premium GT6

The original standards mostly still look like junk, the upgraded standards could easily fool you into thinking they are premiums, but their driving models are not as refined, their sounds are more generic and we don't have cockpit view. Then you have the original GT5 premiums all of which look great, and the GT6 premiums which are generally a small improvement further.

I find the Standards being in the Dealership really annoys me, because I'm searching through all these cars trying to find which is the premium. I enjoy driving from the cockpit view and I enjoy looking at the beautifully modelled cars.. The standards are an eyesore, I'd have prefered them to remain in some sort of "used car" garage.

Hopefully they will be gone completely in GT7, at that point we will likely be over 500 cars premium, quality over quantity has to take over at some point.

I think the ongoing upgrades of the "standard" cars to "semi-premium" is a clear signal that PD is planning to continue to carry their assets forward in the series. I think they'd be crazy to throw them away, and they appear to agree with me.

Those physics differences that STILL have absolutely no capability for lift-off oversteer on FF cars...

I haven't made an FF swing around, but I've had a lot more success getting them to rotate in turns (and stay rotated) by giving up throttle than I ever did with GT5.

(And MR cars are downright twitchy now off-throttle... you've got to be very careful and they don't give you a whole lot of warning before the back end goes out.)

No doubt, improved. Still nowhere near good enough. Not that I can make many assumptions about what's right (see other long-winded 'debate' about 'realism' of computer games), I can say that I'm equally as bad at spinning an MX-5 in real life as an midship MR2, whereas I seem to have no trouble holding a 130mph slide in Gran Turismo 5 OR 6 with either of these. More importantly, lift-off oversteer needs to exist in Gran Turismo for the most important reason of fun, FF's are simply boring as hell because of it.

Even in GT5, I find that I can actually enjoy and even drive standard cars using the "black cockpit" with the HUD turned OFF (I never, ever use HUD). It requires a bit more concentration when shifting but that actually makes the experience more rewarding. The sound gives enough feedback to know when I need to shift (FYI: my setup is the T500RS and the TH8RS shifter).

In fact, in some ways I actually prefer the lack of visible steering wheel (in front of the actual steering wheel I'm using). If I can just have the rev counter and nothing else, I'd be very happy.

Yes, there's a lack of some details in the physics but I expected that. But to me it doesn't take away the fun factor of driving, for example, the RUFs and the Stratos. In the end is the user's willingness to overlook the shortcoming and let loose and have fun.

Yeah standard cars is probably the worst thing about GT5 and GT6. Would gladly take 50 different premiums rather than standard cars. Can't believe they made this decision for GT6

50? Try 0, because that's how many more premiums Polyphony would be able to make if they decided to abandon the standards.

I realize only thing they did with standard cars is that they gave it a black cockpit view, that's it, graphic are ps2 stuff. IF you watch replay of standard cars, the jagged edge and everything is verryyyy noticeable! How many premiums cars are there anyway.

I am very disappointed that the 6th time around isn't any improvement, except more cars and maps, and different interface

Sounds like you haven't played the game? How can you say the only improvement is more content? Anyhow, there are quite a few standards that look near premium now and have been highly upgraded. There was a thread for this that compared standards from GT5 to GT6 and they are VASTLY improved.
