Karts are always Sports Softs, it won't be the kart.
I wonder if it will be the GT-R T-spec '24 car or the Lancer Evo XIII one. I'm guessing this but usually the week after PD releases an update one of those featured cars in it will appear in one of the next set of daily races.

You can’t just post about getting bitten by an otter while at work without the story. lol. The chances of that sentence and experience ever occurring is like 1 in a billion. Obviously im sorry you got hurt and you’re hopefully ok, but that has to be the best story ever!! You must have a wild job, what are the chances! I’ve seen otters, but they always go the other way. You have to tell it lol.
Glad I wasn't alone on this...was hoping for a backstory on that one. It's a rare opportunity:

"And then, upon seeing Barney's qualifying time, Otter von Winmeister lashed out and attacked, wounding his opponent where it would matter the most...THE HANDS"

Maybe not THAT dramatic, but still....🤣

EDIT
Daily Race C RULZ!!!😁

Well no racing for me for a few days - while at work, I got bitten on both hands by an Otter (long story)
Sore hands, tetanus injection and a course of antibiotics. Bloody Otters - though I wasn't enjoying the racing much anyway, so not to bothered:)
I'd loved to have heard the explanation to the medics.

"What happened to you?"

"So there was this otter right.."

"Yeah?"

"And he bit me"

"What an otter git he is"

"Thanks, can I please have the drugs now, I'm going to pass out."

I've got an example of the gaps to other drivers (who either did or did not make a pit stop yet) thing that I told you about I didn't understand, 2 or 3 pages back in this thread. It's a screenshot from a TheKie stream, but this will do.

I thought before the time in red was the time you are behind the leader, but now I am confused about it. This is the screenshot:

1728045182701.png

TheKie already pitted at this point (his pit animation took about 31 seconds). He was already driving at the back, and after his stop he's driving 15th place, 27.348 seconds behind... who? So this 27 odd seconds is not his gap to the leader? Because if the leader (anyone behind that still needs to pit) takes a pitstop of 31 seconds, than TheKie will pass them all, but in reality it's quite a hopeless drive from the back because he was punted in the first corner.

It's the leader. Pit delta at Daytona assuming no fuel no tires is ~15 seconds.

@Goanaut the red time is the delta to who ever is in position 1 as you point out when all the pit shuffling sorts itself out then the leader will change and that delta change to reflect that

How can the pit delta be 15 seconds while the whole pit animation is more than double (no fuel, no tires), this I just don't get 😅

This is his pit entry, so he is 6.7 seconds behind the leader:

This is pit exit (so more than 30 seconds into the pits):
1728046886325.png

Now this is his delta, 21 seconds:

So you guys are right. It is indeed a 15 seconds. But how is this possible when the animation takes longer... only thing I can think about is that you cover a lot less track than the people not pitting at that moment.

To make it a teeny more ontopic: I did several daytona races this week. Most of the time I start about P10. The first 2 laps are rather messy most of the time, with me coming out at P14-P16. I always finish about P6-P8 however so many people must be having collisions or trips beyond the tarmac.

Because you're not coming out of the pits at the same location of the track you went in. It takes about 15 seconds for you to go from entry to exit on a normal hot lap. Thus, 30 second pit time - 15 second hot lap time = 15 seconds lost total to pit.

With the amount of data that Polyphony has on quali-laps from different skilled players, races (dayly or official contests) from all DR an DS categories, I don't see the "science fiction" of an algorithm monitoring and policing 12 to 16 objects (players) in a rather confined space. Especially when those aren't always altogether engaged like at the start (in fps games the algorithm takes care of 128-150 players)
We're getting off topic of the dailies, but again, what you are suggesting (although technically possible) is far more complex that you think.

First, the comparison of 12-16 cars vs 128-150 players. That's the same thing, but in the larger game, more prediction is used to determine where people will be. It's just more processing. And, still, intention cannot be determined. Only trajectory. In that, lag becomes the issue. Let's say, my trajectory says I am going to t-bone you, should I get a penalty? Lag causes me to t-bone you. YOu feel it, but on my end, I never even came close to being off line. So my intent was never there, the outcome still sucks for you. Should I be penalized for lag?

How fine of a measurement does it need to be? Well, watch the cars in this week's B race and you will see them blatantly go into the penalty areas on your screen, but there's no penalty dished out. Why? Because of the difference between them, the server, and you.

It's not as easy as you think

Ah ofcourse, I forgot to take this into consideration. Didn't realise that it actually takes a full 15 seconds to cover that part of the track. I finally get it now (and I'm hopefully not so slow of mind in other areas ;) ).

Hello!

Feel like it's been so long since I had time to log in and say hello.... 😖

Gearing up for the serious end of the project at work so working almost 7 days a week, 60+ hours for the past month lol and foreseeable future... Love it though I hope won't be too long till all comes to normal 😁

So in my limited time, just want to pop in, say hello and wish good luck at the races to all!

And to also ruin your day @newmedia_dev 😂❤️🥳

Jumped onto B last night w/zero practice. Not a good idea given I’ve never raced that layout of Barca before!

Where are we all braking for the hairpin at the end of the front straight? The meter boards are either too early or too late, and the grass and striped kerbing on the left seem too late as well. Can’t find a brake marker.

Never seen a B/S race where everyone bar me and one other guy were in the meta car! Is the Lambo really that much faster? I can’t use it as I drive in cockpit view and it has no rear view mirror or camera!

The 300 board, but you have to sort of trail brake or hard, ease off, hard if you need to and then as needed to keep tight.

Edit:

Don't fall in to the trap of trying to keep going deeper and deeper as it's not the fastest way.

Also a tip: taking the earlier initial braking point gives you options to avoid people or run faster in to the first apex of the hairpin as it's got 2 apexes or one really late one

Thanks. 300 seemed too early but will try it.

Also feel like if you go too wide at the exit of the hairpin on the left you’ll compromise the entry to the next corner as it’s then harder to get back to the right side of the track to set up properly for the uphill left hander.

Exactly that, you want to take the corner tighter for the better exit up the hill.

300 is just about right but you have to learn to trust the turn in of the car and carry a fraction more speed through it, the optimum is to brake turn in and coast to the curb at the exit tight and accelerate, if gives you exit but crucially space to go as right as you can before lifting/braking for the essess meaning you can be cleaner on the throttle up the hill

3 times in the same race my wheel disconnected at the same place every time, the straight at Catalunya. This is beyond a joke.

If it was over working it, fine but I did 2 A races where I am definitely working the wheel for the slides.

This is nothing to do with the forum but PD/Fanatec fix your stuff or tell us why it breaks time after time after time.

If there are reasons admit them, give us work arounds or just acknowledge them. Patch after useless car update patch yet no fundamental fixes to FFB, disconnection issues, fresh daily content, weak season update.

What is the point of competitive racing when a wheel disconnects for no reason that is shown to the user? Was fine the lap before? Fine the lap after? I mean is this really a triple A title? It's not like my wheel unplugged itself or suddenly ran out of batteries.

I wondered what happened to you Glen 😁

Hopefully see you out on track soon and that stuff gets sorted.

👊

Which Fanatec wheel base?

If GT DD pro I went through a period of disconnects early on but resolve them all and now it has been rock solid for over a year. If it is the DD+ I have no tips and I am avoiding that as it has known issues.

DD pro,

I think it's the rear connection for the USB ultimately but what I can't understand is with restarting the wheel before a session fixes it or unplugging the wheel base.

What bugs me is there is nothing feedback wise just "it's disconnected"

I did 20 laps in a single session yesterday for the TT and no issues, faultless. Did a warm up and then every lap in an online race it had issues.

Just very odd, and not being funny I'm in the top 1000, or 500 in most of the events so it's not like I'm just blame storming to hide my ability or results.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away...

Well actually it was yesterday in Shetland. I was at work (helicopter engineering assistant) when I got a call about an Otter (I'm also a wildlife photography guide) that was underneath the inbound baggage carousel, and had been wandering around inside the airport terminal.
So I went to assist the SSPCA (wildlife rescue person who I've helped out before) and we tried to catch the Otter (male Eurasian River Otter) with a net while it was still inside the baggage carousel, but there were too many obstructions and it kept escaping out in to the terminal building.
This went on for 30 minutes until it ran underneath the check-in desks, where we tried to block it in. One chap caught it's tail while I tried to net it, but it escaped again so I grabbed it around the chest. This annoyed it greatly and it started biting both my hands - thankfully I had reasonably thick gloves on but it still penetrated through the backs of them and cut me several times until I got it bundled in to the animal carrier box.

I wanted some antisceptic wipes and a plaster til I got to A&E - so the airport firemen turned up with a fire engine on blue lights ( I was mortified) I then went to A&E for further wound cleaning and the tetanus and antibiotics.

It was an interesting day!

(Apologies for off-topic post)

Edit/ my bitey Otter friend was released in the bay next to the airport.

Glad the otter was ok and you are on the mend mate. Sincerely.

But get the otter to put a time in and it will get the respect I give you 🤣

All seriousness what a diverse job you have compared to my desk job!
