Hello!

Feel like it's been so long since I had time to log in and say hello.... 😖

Gearing up for the serious end of the project at work so working almost 7 days a week, 60+ hours for the past month lol and foreseeable future... Love it though I hope won't be too long till all comes to normal 😁

So in my limited time, just want to pop in, say hello and wish good luck at the races to all!

And to also ruin your day @newmedia_dev 😂❤️🥳

Hmmm...second gear chicane. I need to try that. I have been grabbing 1st

Which Fanatec wheel base?

If GT DD pro I went through a period of disconnects early on but resolve them all and now it has been rock solid for over a year. If it is the DD+ I have no tips and I am avoiding that as it has known issues.
DD pro,

I think it's the rear connection for the USB ultimately but what I can't understand is with restarting the wheel before a session fixes it or unplugging the wheel base.

What bugs me is there is nothing feedback wise just "it's disconnected"

I did 20 laps in a single session yesterday for the TT and no issues, faultless. Did a warm up and then every lap in an online race it had issues.

Just very odd, and not being funny I'm in the top 1000, or 500 in most of the events so it's not like I'm just blame storming to hide my ability or results.

You can’t just post about getting bitten by an otter while at work without the story. lol. The chances of that sentence and experience ever occurring is like 1 in a billion. Obviously im sorry you got hurt and you’re hopefully ok, but that has to be the best story ever!! You must have a wild job, what are the chances! I’ve seen otters, but they always go the other way. You have to tell it lol.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away...

Well actually it was yesterday in Shetland. I was at work (helicopter engineering assistant) when I got a call about an Otter (I'm also a wildlife photography guide) that was underneath the inbound baggage carousel, and had been wandering around inside the airport terminal.
So I went to assist the SSPCA (wildlife rescue person who I've helped out before) and we tried to catch the Otter (male Eurasian River Otter) with a net while it was still inside the baggage carousel, but there were too many obstructions and it kept escaping out in to the terminal building.
This went on for 30 minutes until it ran underneath the check-in desks, where we tried to block it in. One chap caught it's tail while I tried to net it, but it escaped again so I grabbed it around the chest. This annoyed it greatly and it started biting both my hands - thankfully I had reasonably thick gloves on but it still penetrated through the backs of them and cut me several times until I got it bundled in to the animal carrier box.

I wanted some antisceptic wipes and a plaster til I got to A&E - so the airport firemen turned up with a fire engine on blue lights ( I was mortified) I then went to A&E for further wound cleaning and the tetanus and antibiotics.

It was an interesting day!

(Apologies for off-topic post)

Edit/ my bitey Otter friend was released in the bay next to the airport.

Glad the otter was ok and you are on the mend mate. Sincerely.

But get the otter to put a time in and it will get the respect I give you 🤣

All seriousness what a diverse job you have compared to my desk job!

This story is awesome! I mean this is Shetland. I sure not a lot happens up there in a regular day. This was probably the highlight of their day. I can just imagine, them being, "Oh, can we switch on the blue lights?" :D

For some reason I'm now thinking of this!

Hope your fingers heal up!

Well no racing for me for a few days - while at work, I got bitten on both hands by an Otter (long story)
Sore hands, tetanus injection and a course of antibiotics. Bloody Otters - though I wasn't enjoying the racing much anyway, so not to bothered:)
So I jump back in every now and again to see how things are going, and I read this. I feel like I just entered the twilight zone.

But I guess it's all cool

In all seriousness, get better soon!

You're a good dude, mate. Glad it all worked out hope the otter feels bad and calls to apologize. 🥳

Have you not seen the Shetland "Jimmy Perez" detective series?! There's like five murders a day here! 😱😉
Isn't that like the population of Shetland? LOL. Alas no. I moved away from the UK near 25 years ago so my definition of "current affairs" there is over two decades old..

For all I know, Shetland has been turned into a megaopolis fueled by oil drilling money? 🤷‍♂️

Though the images I pull up, it still looks very quaint! Just got to watch out for those villainous otters though..

@Barney Da Dog Don't feel bad, I got stung by a wasp 3 months ago, it freaking hurt. So bad, we had to rush to the ER and wait in the lobby for 4 hours, the nurses and doctors helped bandage my arm and wiped it off with alcohol, it stung like hell.

Anyways back on topic. I think I'm focusing on the Tokyo races this week, I love the selection of supercars to battle people with and to have fun racing on an urban street track. Makes me feel like I'm in Asia. I haven't been placing good at the finish, been finishing in 7-10th place in most of my races. But I suppose it's typical and normal for me. I hate banging into the rail when I go too fast. Annoying and frustrating.

Had the same issue worsening for a few weeks. After getting the QR2 Lite it never happened again. Stability is much improved too. Highly recommended to try if that fixes it.

My stomachs and head genuinely hurt from laughing at this so so so hard.....I can't breathe 🤣🤣🤣
Now I'm scared of otters.

@Barney Da Dog interesting story. You know I've never been on a plane or at the airport. I'm scared of heights.

I'm so tired I don't even feel like racing at Tokyo this morning and that's the truth.

Is anybody feeling much difference with the 1:52 physics? (I've not been able to try yet) I quite liked how most of it all felt already, apart from me not liking AWD cars much.

Just wish the FFB would get fixed for the Formula cars.

@Chris30 I don't like heights much either but being up in a plane or helicopter it feels fine. 48th floor of a New York hotel with floor to ceiling windows was horrible though - took 2 days before I could stand next to the glass! 😳😭🤣

Only in braking, you can physically hear the wheels locking with the ABS but otherwise not noticing anything. You'd usually expect to see an effect in the TT times. I'm guessing the actual physics were targeted at certain cars.

Just wish the FFB would get fixed for the Formula ALL THE CARS
Fixed that for you.

Not noticed much change in the ABS, I always run that at weak anyway.
I've been running Rorys wheel setting and in game at 10/1 which seems to work well a least on the Huracán. Added some CS weak for a few laps and still lapped within 0.1 of my quickest times.

3 times in the same race my wheel disconnected at the same place every time, the straight at Catalunya. This is beyond a joke.

If it was over working it, fine but I did 2 A races where I am definitely working the wheel for the slides.

This is nothing to do with the forum but PD/Fanatec fix your stuff or tell us why it breaks time after time after time.

If there are reasons admit them, give us work arounds or just acknowledge them. Patch after useless car update patch yet no fundamental fixes to FFB, disconnection issues, fresh daily content, weak season update.

What is the point of competitive racing when a wheel disconnects for no reason that is shown to the user? Was fine the lap before? Fine the lap after? I mean is this really a triple A title? It's not like my wheel unplugged itself or suddenly ran out of batteries.
That has never happened to my controller...😜

I don’t have back to back comparisons as I’ve been driving the new cars and also working through the license tests but my overriding feel is that braking is awful on a lot of cars I drove. So easy to lock up wheels and certain cars switch from understeer to violent oversteer or vis-versa depending on the car.

Now perhaps those cars were always like that but it just seems “more” now.

Now I was able to gold everything, but it took a lot more learning than I might have imagined.

Have you checked the pedal calibration recently? Mine resets occasionally so the range is tiny, more like a button press so not using 85% of the travel

I understand that some people are just petulant children but this happened 2 races in a row.(different people)

I just don't understand why in Daily A 🤷‍♂️

Gran Turismo 7 I mean seriously?

Edit: I spent the afternoon in A reparing my SR for the manu cup, starting mostly 5-7 but dropping to the back not actively racing people but through attrition and murder suicides I gain a few positions.

bone_tone was in one race which is always a pleasure so was @GOTMAXPOWER who dropped back with me in one race and looked like he was going to kill me in to the hairpin as he was Scandinavian flicking it to drift the corner 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I had one last night where I was having a good battle with first only for third to deliberately jam me into a wall which I got the penalty for. Drove despondently for a bit then on the last straight I caught up with the Frenchie and overtook him, as he come back I then shoved him into the wall.

Good to see you too - been doing Race A all week, first time I've seen someone I know!

I had that push into the wall happen in one race too - caught up with the guy on the last lap and he tried it again, caught me wrong and he spun into the wall himself 🤣

A very small BUT welcome difference! Braking in a straight line is better. When I was 14 years old, a few of my friends and I bought a Maruti 800 for about $15 in today's currency. An absolute turd of a car, wanted to roll if you take a turn faster than 13 mph and had rims/ tires smaller than your average Oreo biscuit! However.... braking in a straight line, even after some rain, the car would keep going forward without changing direction! It would lock up 9.99/ 10 times, but at least it went straight!

Before the update this week, taking a corner exactly the same as the previous lap, I still had to be ready for a completely different reaction from the car! Now, at least, I know what it will do, most of the time.... 😂 And that is an improvement in my books!

Finally got on the top step, there’s something about Sunday morning racing which always gets me the final half sec in QT or hands me those wins, my luck started to change in the G70 rather than the Lambo

Spent quite a bit of time in race A too, would be a great race without ppl smashing you into a wall after they serve penalties, why do you do this?!

Too hot to do anything outside and the wife was gone all day, hmmmm, what should I do😜.

I had a very bad stretch over the last month, bad driving and no concentration. I had been a B-S and saw it slip all the way to a D-S. I started to have some success at Daytona this week so, today turned into an 18 race marathon. I got my rating back up to a B and snuck out a win. Only 1 race was lower than 5th.

@Jflijohn awesome win mate. Honestly I don't really care if I get many more wins, family and health is more important. You cannot put a price tag on your health. I dread racing at Trial Mountain again next week. I get PTSD from banging the rails/wall so much. And touching the grass some. Speed and proper braking are crucial factors for getting a reasonable lap time.

I had a blast at Daytona this week. Did maybe 12 races, which is a lot for me. Most races I had to recover from the back after first lap clumsiness of myself or others around me. So not many podiums, but I'm happy that I have the pace in a lot of B lobbies to recover to a P6-P8 (and in doing so, gain small amounts of DR). Lets see how next week goes.
