Also school holidays means that probably more youngsters playing and not being as careful as maybe us old buggers!

You said it!

I even had the questionable privilege of sharing a lobby (NSX at Grand Valley) with such mid-pack miscreants that were bad-mouthing the top two A rated (P1 P2) drivers in the post-race lobby for being good enough to be out in front. I was caught in P3, with these guys fighting like crazy behind me whilst the other two raced off into the distance.

The result was such high level banter as "check out the 2 tryhards", "haha losers". Meanwhile I'm being left alone for some reason, I suspect because I'm still wearing my B badge. I couldn't help thinking 'but.... you still finished ahead of some people so doesn't that make you a tryhard as well?'.

The gulf in mentality within the online space in this game is mind-blowing sometimes.

So haven’t raced or really driven, I like TM so thought I’d do a few QT laps with the aim to do a few races, not gonna set the world on fire but ok after a 3 week break

Some of those kids are old enough to be married, have children, drive a SUV and show the same stupidity on everyday's roads.
Cue a rant on this whole "stay in school until you are 30 and your eggs dry up and delay your adulthood" is a bad idea. But i digress.

So today was good day of Daily Races after not playing GT7 for a week, and use my own anti-meta racecar despite the F296 being very good alternative. I use my Jag to tyr and conquer some B lobby full of Porsche GT3 R's, I did OK but a bumper car racing for sure, crashes everywhere, so managed only 12th and got regulated to C lobbies.

But I managed to race well in those and got a nice 1-2 victory combo in 2 races! Race 1 was fun as the leaders on lap 2 knocked each other out on the last chicane so i capitalise and ran for the hills! Held the place and got victory! I think with some more prep/practice and attack i could get better in the lobbies to bump up higher than B!

Seeing the new TT this week at Alsace Village, I was wondering did we ever have Alsace in Race C ever?

Also, how much fun it would be if we were given the opportunity to drive road cars in Race C(pit stops & different tyre compounds even) instead of GR cars?
Nope

Had a good KTM X-BOW RACE A too, managed to get 4th place overall! A fun race also!

We had Miatas at Road Atlanta right after R.A. dropped for a Daily C. It was one of the more memorable race combos; the racing was fantastic.

Trial Mountain is a blast with a good group of drivers. I feel I held my own here as a B driver in a predominantly A grouped race. Few minor mistakes with plenty of head shaking lol. Some evasive maneuvering and I secure P3! Working my way to A grade!

Cracking time that mate, well done!!!! Looks like a bloody close finish as well!

I've got a 51.8xx on the alt and think i could squeeze and couple of tenths more but no where near the bottom of the 51's like you. Such a fun track though.

Yes it's a really fun track isn't it and when you get the flow right on a lap it feels so sweet!

I do think I have a 1:50.9 in me but still gonna have to go looking for it

Edit;

The racing quality is “questionble” these are A/S lobbies where maybe incorrectly you’d expect more skill for the pace entry requirement.

Hey ho, being .7 quicker and nailed in turn 4 is par for the course on a Friday night.

You've hit the nail on the head Mate when it comes to sportmanship in A lobbies. Yesterday with my alt a/c I finally touched DR A. My first 2 races in a full DR A grid was shocking. All around players are as if removing their grudges on each other.

Whereas DR B / SR S lobbies were always calmer & fantastic to race with.

My main a/c I've been DR A for long again but I rarely play with that a/c as I know how tedious a DR A grid can get. I was till now playing with my alt a/c because of DR B lobbies but now I'm sailing in the same boat....sheesh!

I feel the same, I’m on my Alt this week and about to go over into A, it feels cleaner in the DR B lobbies but I think that is probably because:

1. We are at the front on the pack so out of the washing machine carnage you get starting P5-10 which makes a big difference.

2. If there is a mistake we have that pace advantage to recover and still keep the gap/take a sub optimal line and not get swallowed up by the pack.

3. I think in A we are pushing/driving closer to the edge with other people doing the same so it gets more chaotic for both involved

Im not saying A lobbies aren’t worse but I do think being an A driver in a B lobby makes us feel it’s perhaps cleaner than it is, just my 2 cents

You're very much spot on relating to point no. 1. I've realised too if starting usually in the top 5, You've have a high chance of having a safe & a cleaner race when compared to starting mid pack or towards the rear. That's why it's crucial to qualify well.

Sometimes it's just 1 player who can create havoc in the entire race.

Yeah fully agree with that. Also I do think that it is mostly clumsy/ bad driving and poor decision making more than out and out dirty driving (a few bad eggs aside). Doesn’t make it any less frustrating in the heat of the moment.

My issue is and not sure if it’s the same for other people, for me to qualify top 5 in an A lobby it takes sooooo much grinding in quali that a lot of the time I just don’t want to do it so just have to try and work out a way to survive and have fun in the washing machine. Probably need to develop better race craft to be fair.

I normally find in that mid pack if there is a lot of aggressive people, to take a wide berth let them through and wait for them to trip over themselves which they inevitably do.

Rather than having to grind out a decent Q time for the weeks daily races, it would IMHO be awesome 🙌 if there was just 1 daily race where you have a Q pre race each time.
That would mix up the field a bit 🤏😂🤠

It's a good idea mate. Like how some years back in F1, we had a 1 shot qualifying. That could be the case before every race or just for that day.

My qualy times are good or bad based on the track+car combo. Some places I'd be bad & in some, quite competitive.

Maybe, I like the idea but there is 2 things, fast qualifiers are typically fast aways, you can also end up with the inverse problem that people with faster actual race pace end up out of position and that’s gonna cause issues to be fair

Id love this mate, I think it would be perfect.

The guys that are always fast and consistent will still be at the front. The guys that need to do 30-40 laps in a row to get a hot one (I’m in this group) then have to find more consistency.

Think it would keep the races fresh all week as you’d never know where you’re starting.

Not sure they would do it as it probably messes with their timings etc…

I think it’s about scales though mate, because today I was in all A+ lobbies the margins were razor thin so it didn’t matter where you started in reality, in some lobbies it would make a difference but then so would just working on your QT and moving away from those lobbies or starting higher up? 🤷‍♂️

The excessive working on the QT to start higher up is what we were discussing getting away from.

Would add some more excitement if you had 2 laps to get it right and 1 race you’re pole and buzzing, the next your P10 as quali didn’t go well.

I just think it would add a new dimension

But it’s not really how a 4/5 year old game works especially at the sharp end.

I like the idea in theory but it has unintended consequences.

Let’s just take today/current lobbies, overtaking is a life choice apparently, now couple that with someone who’s actually faster and not ambitious you create these really weird dynamics where it takes effort to restore the actual race performance order.

Sounds good on the surface, but things like reducing power and adding ballast would be fairer and require everyone to perform to their limit not just have a single good lap

But I feel that you get an issue of people being faster and behind you the the current system.

Take myself for example, I have a 51.8 at TM and that’s a decent quali where I’ve put maybe 20 laps at the start of the week to set it and I do the odd lap in between races. This puts me at a level where I can keep my position consistently. I know that if I spent ages pouring over replays, telemetry and putting hours into quali I could most probably shave that down to 51.5 but this would then put me in front of people that are faster more consistently than me that haven’t hammered quali! Causing the same issue you’ve highlighted earlier.

TBH I just want the option of grinding Quali taken away for my own mental health as I get obsessed and sucked into it 😂

All the systems current or proposed will do that, if you take lap consistency away and replace it with a hot lap it’s the same problem but moved 2 layers back

And those that do spend time trying to be better should be penalised? Same coin two different sides.

Which is fair, but not really how motorsport works, take F1 or club sport racing, you practice, you do the reps you learn because the work is not two hours on a Sunday it’s months of working at it.

Now the game lets you arrive and drive and that is absolutely fine and how it should be, it’s when expectation starts to lead things rather than effort and respect of that effort.

They are not the same game, one is the one we all play the other is some are trying to master.

I'm decent around Trial Mountain & enjoy driving with some antimeta cars such as RCZ, 296 & GT3 AMG. The 296 I tried after seeing TyrannoCyrusRex's antimeta vid on his channel for this race. I think it's a fantastic choice of a antimeta.

Wish I had more friends from this daily race thread so I could compare my effort (TT) with theirs. Rouge_et_Noir is my alt a/c & both times of my alt a/c & main a/c have been set with the RCZ.

Not playing with my main a/c much as I like to use it for Race C when the ideal combo is available. Tomorrow onwards will race with both a/cs at Tokyo.
