Ok, after my first time racing at DT, in
B lobbies on my alt account, I can confirm that I'm not racing there so often in future. I ended up "even" with my DR gain/loss, but the driving standards were the worst ever seen since a while.
Just as example; started 2nd in one race to be killed from a "to way optimistic guy" (he was 5th or 6th) at the hairpin after the kink sending me 16th with ar 6 sec gap from 15th. All that didn't stop me to recover my 2nd position on 12th lap. Eventually that was my best ever recovery from a blatant punt. I also ended up retaliating, which is something I'm not used to, but when I see someone doing **** for 3 races in a raw, continuously, moreover mocking the victims; I go to the dark side without caring for my SR.
Anyway, since the continuous Hyundai cups we're getting, I might give the priority to DF. Maybe Monza on a Jag or a Suzuki (I'll try the Viper but I fear it will be a waste of time), but I'm lil fed up of the Genesis.
Have a good one, everyone.

Edit: Sincere apologies for my vulgarity.

I'd like to race a Toyota Aqua at some point that'd be great fun to watch back.

The Porsche is a challenge to drive, that’s for sure, but a fun race nonetheless, tried a few laps in the Genesis at Monza, it’s almost like I can’t use the wheel sen setting I used to, the 360 just snaps back on the car but it is faster, need to research that one abit.

Will try a couple of races at Monza later on this eve

PD has got to see how bonkers it is having the same two cars as the meta in two Daily Races every week for almost a month now...

... I mean... they have to see it? Right?

Set a reasonable Q time for DR B race B and starting top 5 but the driving standards are appalling. Monza always seems to bring the worse out in people and as for where they think they can overtake is crazy 🤪 🤠

I'm not sure what the gain is here though.

Hyundai wasn't a GTWS sponsor. Genesis was, but isn't. The car that's dominating the Gr.3 BOP isn't based on one you can buy - and indeed most people couldn't buy it anyway (USA, Korea, Middle East only) before it was killed over a decade ago - so it's not advertising the product line. At least if they'd made an Elantra Gr.3 you could see it, but...

And making it dominant week after week just makes them both look bad as people assume your gif.

The best feeling I have in Sport is winning a race or at least ending in the top 5 without using a meta car.

Let's the kids playing with their meta toys while men keep winning no matter the car they use.

Surely, surely all signs are pointing to a Sport Mode shake-up?

Dominant meta in both homologation race classes. Physics changes which have further divided opinion between race car drivers and road car drivers. Shuffle Mode incoming.

This online structure has been with us since 2017 with very little variation (tyre choices have somewhat been diversified, and the whole DR/SR-off experiment).

Come on PD, keep us on our toes.

It's just branding, the car itself is not an issue, keep the brand front and centre and looking all racey and premium against Ferrari's and McLarens. CLear as day it was a bag of money, no way it's a coincidence this happened in both Gr3 and Gr4.

They will nerf them soon enough as it is a bit ridiculous but 100% certain Hyundai paid for it.

The ROI for Hyundai to have a fictional car based on a dead car most of the planet wouldn't recognise and could easily confuse with another (related) brand is so low as to be... well, let's say "quite hard" to get through the PR bods.

They're also not even pushing the brand in GT as much as they are even in Forza Horizon - no SUVs to go against the Japanese ones, limited appearances of N (no i20, i30, Kona), no "Gr.B" car.

You may be 100% certain of it, but I work with these people and I'd be in single digits.

Again, it's just branding, don't focus on the car. Why do you think they go through all the hassle and cost of creating a new EV in the game no one cares about, and then they do a TT and a daily/weekly race with same souless EV? It's branding, same with the random Chinese spybot things they force upon us at times.

There's no way in hell that both Hyundai cars are brutal metas in both Gr3 and Gr4 at the same time without money exchanging hands, just impossible.

Just on Hyundai, for me and I spoke about it in my physics video. It's accidental, just a weird set of coincidences that have happened. The Genesis Gr.3 was always fast it was just also super sketchy. Now they've multiplied the grip and made FR cars stronger it just made it a very strong car as it no longer wants to break tractions every nano second. Likewise the Elantra was always the strongest FF car, improving front grip does the same thing it makes it a very strong car again as wheel spin is reduced.

My biggest concern with all of this is they applied new physics and didn't bother to test cars properly.. Hyundai will be nerfed 100%. I think if I was Toyota or Mazda, I'd be more annoyed as they're paying 7 figures to be a partner and their cars are not being used.

Again, I work with these people. They absolutely do focus on the car. They cannot sell you a Hyundai Genesis; it's a bad choice for them to be promoting, and they would not do so.

I don't. But I do know that they do that for promotional reasons - and that's why I very seriously doubt that they do this.

Can you buy an Ioniq 5N or Ioniq 6N from them? Yes. That makes sense for ROI.

Can you buy an Elantra N from them? Yes. That makes sense for ROI.

Can you buy a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from them? No. That doesn't make sense for ROI.

This idea that Hyundai paid to make (a fictional race version of) the Genesis Coupe the best car in the category that Toyota and Mazda already pay to feature in and to get a free spot in the finals does not make business sense.

It's a cock-up, at least in the case of Gr.3, and it makes both parties look bad as people assume and assert that money has changed hands despite it making no actual sense for this to be the case.

Both hyundais were fast before update.

Genesis was fast but sketchy, often seen on fast tracks like monza. Aliens were using it frequently.

Elantra has always been fast but super understeery.

Now, after physics change cars got much more grip in general.
Genesis is fast as it was but no more sketchy. Elantra doesn't understeer any more. Thus those cars became dominant. It's only a coinsidence that they are from the same brand 🤷🏿‍♂️

If you can adjust torque on a wheel, it should interfere with the BOP?
I would like to see some 1/4 mile sprint between the same car. One controller and one wheel user. The wheel with max- and next run with lowest Torque setting.
Hope I am not
This is about my luck in C this week, not getting to grip with the new physics clearly! 😁

Did semi sort the wheel settings with coach Luke video.

@Bondwhar tried soft, soft, medium, sadly not going to catch on I fear 🤣

The first sector is a good example, why I don't really care, what my optimum lap time is calculated. You break a little later into t1 and get out of t2 a bit slower, but stable and calm. Followed by a fantastically taken t3 and 4. If I get 1+2 like an alien, I normally lose time after right hander turn three (going wide 👈) or break too late for t4 (because I don't feel the about 2kmh surplus I have now and I would destabilise my car too much, because of the drag to the left after t3. ) I am using a controller.

I span too often in the same corner, I switch the traction control up to 2 from 0 (CoD) on the straight after La Chicane a la muerte. On the m6 gt3 or viper to 3 or 4(hard tyres).
Better save than sorry🤭

If you're tired of Hyundai dominance there's a whole game outside of Sport Mode you can play. You don't need to play Sport Mode if you don't want to.

If you’re reading and posting in this particular thread you probably really do want to play Sport mode.

I wish I could play Sport Mode but they haven't had an interesting race since the 22B tuning race.

never had this before, was only a couple of corners to end of the 12 laps at brands, was flying last 3 laps. Went from 6th to 3rd, and was catching p2. Whether I'd of took them....we will never know.

Tried a few laps of quali at Monza, somehow after hitting a 52.8, 52.6, 52.4 out of nowhere came this low 51! After T4 the time just came to me, 8tenths, probably won’t do that again but I’ll take it racing 😁 under 2 secs from world number 1

Thanks 😁

I struggled all weekend with T2 at dragon, I’ve struggled a lot this week and read a lot that the genesis being sketchy so I put it down to that.

Hopefully when they finally nerf the Hyundai normal service will resume

Since August it happens to me randomly at least 2-3 times per Weekend, sometimes even during the waiting for the matchmaking. The worst is when you're cruising in 1st. Just curious to see the reaction of the 2nd when it happens.

With the BOP update coming it is clear WE are the testers.

Polyphony community team, is that you?

I thought this too when watching Tidge's video.

The playerbase acting as the online test-bed isn't all too weird is it? I don't know how other studios handle that sort of thing, but it seems entirely logical to me that the mountains of data they can get from real players under real circumstances is of great value and would return very accurate FACTUAL information about us and how we like to play.

Am I missing the reason for the outrage?

Did a few quali laps for race C in the Genesis. Got down to a 1:29.6 or something which put me around 500 on the leaderboard. Definitely have more to give but I'm still deciding which gear is best for each corner, not watched any video replays of the best drivers yet.
I also think ABS weak is the new meta with these physics. Brake bias actually makes a difference on this setting, and you basically always want to be using +5 since the cars have such short braking distances now anyway.
Being gentle on the throttle in 2nd gear is crucial for druids else you understeer and go wide and have to back off. For most of the other corners you can pick 2nd/3rd or 3rd/4th, you can get away with either but I'm sure there's an optimum. Seemed to do best shifting to 2nd to rotate the car then immediately into 3rd once rotated, and likewise for 3rd/4th gear corners.

Mate they just don't care, I don't think you're testing anything. The BoP was an afterthought, not planned against the current physics, and they're not bothered about dailies etc. enough to sort it out.

People have been saying they're 'testing' the BoP for the past 4 years, it's obviously a load of nonsense because that testing has never come to a head. They buff the latest car that's come out and make some rash changes 3-4 months after a physics update to try and level things.
Sport Mode hasn't seen a significant update in what, 4 years? They simply aren't putting the effort into it, and the problems are down to that. Anything more is just being hopeful that the mode isn't being left to rot.

Just had a go on the Hyundai show at Monza and I'm amazed at the amount of people still spinning out.
