I had to save myself from my own stubbornness (stupidity?) last night in Race B. I’ve been doing Race A all week and forgot that I had done some quali laps at the Glen, so I went back in to try a few more before a race. I could t come within two seconds of my qualification time no matter how many laps I did! I went ahead and raced anyway, only to discover that I was starting last or near last as a B/S driver in mostly A & A+ lobbies. I kept thinking one more loss would get me into an easier lobby, but nope. So I tried again. Nope. Five races, five last or near-last finishes. My B ranking plummeted! I had to **** the game down to keep myself from trying again.

I don’t know why I can’t match my pace from Monday. It just feels different. Maybe it’s the new load cell pedals? I will admit that after twenty quali laps with the new pedals I kept seeing the ABS light going on on the straights when it shouldn’t have, and then I noticed that my brake meter was flickering a little bit. It turns out I had calibrated the brake pedal to be too sensitive and I was basically trail braking for each of the laps I was running!!!!! :dunce:

But still, after re-calibrating a little dead zone in the pedal, I’m still way off my best lap time. I’m flummoxed and at this point just waiting for Monday’s races.

I do, however, LOVE Race A this week! I hope they have more tuning races like this with HP and weight limits. It seems like the perfect balance and allows for personal preferences on suspension and differential without a competitive advantage to PPs.

Sounds like a couple things here that could be causing your slow times
1. Load cell - I would defo say this is the main cause. I’ve recently switched to one and for the first two weeks or so my brake was better and I was matching my times pretty much, but my consistency went down though. I struggled massively with the fast corners where you need to dab the brake. My pedal was way to stiff and I was either not putting enough pressure on or way too much pressure. Made an adjust to my pedal and now it’s a little more softer and I’m way more consistent now. As for times Im back towards my normal times and sometimes I can gain an extra half second sometimes.
Calibration could also be a factor too. I’ve recalibrated my pedal a few times to find that sweet spot.

2. Tiredness/concentration/mood - as daft as it seems I’ve turned on the game and for what ever reason I can just be off the pace. When Im off the pace i then start to over drive which then means I just lose even more time and make more mistakes. Ive taken a break for an hour or two and come back and I then find I’m right back on my normal pace.

Since I’ve changed to a load cell, I’ve just been racing customs lately to get use to the new braking. I knew if I was to race online my DR would tank. Also I’ve been playing ACC (on ps5) lately and ive found this game has helped me improve my driving on GT7.

Is it the Fanatec csl load cell?

Any ideas what the next weeks races will be?
do we already know next weeks daily races?
Daily Races (15/08/2022):

🇦 - Blue Moon Bay - Infield A Reverse / FF Road Cars Max 250PS - Min 1100kg (6 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, CS, Grid Start)
🇧 - Fuji Speedway / Gr.2 (6 Laps, 1x Tyre/Fuel, RS)
🇨 - Lago Maggiore - East / Gr.3 (15 Laps, 10x Tyre/1x Fuel, RH/RM mandatory)

If your on twitter follow Nenkai @nenkaai (think they have a profile on here too). But if you follow this account they will update you on the daily races and any other findings about GT7.

FYI Road America is not in the game file so don’t expect this track to be added. This is not my info but this is from Nenkai

What do you have? I decided to really commit, so I almost got the Heusinkvelt Sprints but then realized I’d have a compatibility issue that I didn’t feel like sorting out. With a Fanatec wheel it just made more sense to get the V3 Clubsport pedals rather than the CSL upgrade. I nearly got the inverted set, but I’m not in need for that kind of immersion at that cost. I considered using the V3s as they normally are, but the brake pedal is awfully soft and has a lot of travel in its stock arrangement. I got the performance kit for the brake instead and even at it’s softest setting it is VERY stiff. I thought of switching back to the original springs but I feel like learning how to use the stiffer ones now is a better plan for the long term. Maybe I’m wrong about this?

I have no idea what the best car will be for the next race A. I don't know for sure but the old Mini with the engine swap may be too light. It will probably be whatever can get at peak horsepower for the longest.

Exactly where i went wrong with my racing today. My body clock is kinda messed up so i thought i'd just jump on GT7 to try and sort it and keep me awake until about now.......which has obviously kinda worked, but i just drove like crap today. Praying i get a decent sleep (and Race B isn't an SLK fest)

I entered race B 7 times today, 5 of the 7 times the start glitched and my car took off down the track while everyone else was parked or in a alternate reality. I'm NAT2, hard wired, static IP, and ping in the 80's on their test connection. The 2 times it worked everything was fine so I dont get what the problem is here.

I was looking at the Mini swap with added ballast, but it doesn’t handle the best. I think we’ll be better off with an OP car and a restricter for the torque curve. I still haven’t decided yet, but the Civic engine doesn’t actually fit in most of the Civics so I may try a Megane or BRZ.

I’m curious to see what people choose and why. The Integras accept the Civic engine, but they have such amazing torque curves that they may be better as they are with some upgrades. I’m also assuming that NA engines will be better than Turbos because at the same HP limit they won’t have any lag.

By the way, on the “special parts” that are available, such as a “stroke up S,” what does the S stand for? Special? I don’t think it’s the same as the normal bore kit so I’m confused.

Theres a good shot on all the hp limited races whatever car you can find with the most torque usually wins out.. Ive tested some of the newer vws this week, they should be competitive but im sure something better will pop up on the rankin

I'm hoping they are using Maggiore for more testing of the BOP, and not just because they like it.

I'm guessing group 2 at Fuji, with the mile long straight, will be a one make.

i think Race A will be the most interesting races this week - without much tuning i got the scirocco and civic type r around 1:23-24s. sucks that its unranked.. but i just got to A+ and i'm not sure i trust the typical Race B driver (myself included!) not to go Gr2 bowling on the occasional wide turn.

if you got any special parts for FF cars during the Cafe Menu Bonanza, they could be actually useful this week. i had a few bore up s's for the scirocco (anyone need one??) and it made a big difference.

I sense the Scirocco meta incoming. Especially with Bore Up S adding a nice boost of torque to the already torquey engine. The RCZ might actually end up being good for the same reason.

Race B is a dumpster fire so far. Just so much diving, punting and pushing. Ran 3 races, all ruined by either stupidity or malice.

Race C is better, but boy the tyre wear is brutal. RSR was unmanageable after 5 laps on mediums. I tried to do 7. Big mistake.

Tried to enter race B twice. That's gonna be a big "NO" from PD. Room loaded, then crashed both times. Although the second time we had 10 minutes of warm up before it died. Oh well.

T1 is a nightmare on this race. Not done Race B yet, but last time out and in a practice lobby yesterday people towards the back don’t understand the concept of they need brake earlier than normal, but instead they use the same braking point and slam into the cars up ahead.
Dirty air and dirty tyres is a big issue too i found last night. I got caught up in the idiots at the back, and I ended up getting shoved off track, picking up dirty tyres and was in the dirty air and I couldn’t keep the car on the track. Plus the other around me were diving for corners

I was having disconnections last night. The game was going into to offline mode about every 20 minutes. PD defo have connection issues by looks of things
