Check it's not this guys

That's why you set the dead zones to be, usually, 5% min. You can also set the max dead zone to be 95% until you take the pedals apart. Try blowing compressed air around and through the pots. They're an open design and can clogged up with dust, dead spiders and so on. If your pots are not salvageable then there are aftermarket replacement upgrades to fix those if you don't want to upgrade your whole wheel/pedal set.

This is what I always understood but if you look at the QT fuel gauge and beginning race fuel gauge they are both at 100 units so I would have thought that QT is the same as the starting lap of a race. But that doesn't appear to be true.

So is the 100 unit fuel on QT just fake and that it is a theoretical optimal (like 2 lap) fuel load that never actually decreases?
Yes, I'm certain that there is no fuel weight in qualifying, but I didn't want to have an argument over something that I can't prove with evidence.

About player base sizes, is the PS4 still larger than PS5? Any opinions?

Thanks.
In my most recent World Series races when the two console bases are mixed, there seemed to be more PS5 players than PS4. Was only two races so not really a fair representation I guess, but it did seem like there were more PS5 users compared to previous events.

Figuring out braking points from rolling starts?

Now that I am committing to having no visual assists on my races, I've lost the braking indicator on first lap starts into the first corner. Once up to speed, it's just a matter of hitting your QT marks with subtle tweaks for race conditions but I am wondering the best way to learn turn 1 braking marks?

Currently am trying to anticipate where I may quality, often 3th - 6th for current races, and I am trying to simulate the rolling start for that position. I.e roll to approximately my starting position at 50mph and then floor it from there. I'm wondering if this is the best way or if there is a more reliable option?

It's funny that we focus so much on QT and the race but this very important aspect of the race, getting off line and having a clean turn 1, is often overlooked and forgotten..

The internal dialog when you're going down a straight behind two cars who are battling each other and probably not paying any attention to you:

👿 Should I?
😇 No. Don't try it.
👿 Well, they might leave room.
😇 Just brake early, and wait for them to sort it out.
👿 But my car has really good brakes.
😇 So do theirs. Quit trying to justify a bad idea.
👿 That's a fair point..... Oh, too late. We're doing it!!!

I guess I lucked out. :nervous:
Anybody else have these sort of conversations with themselves?

100% does.

The last TM race with time yielded much faster times if you waited or lapped until it got dark/dusk by a big margin.

@sturk0167 I'm not sure it works that way because QT and pre race QT both make you accept the BoP weight and performance conditions.
BOP weight is without gas. If you put BOP on in a custom race but set fuel usage to zero it will still display a full tank but run like in QT.

It's tough to race in B this week, guys I try I really try hard as I can to be an angel but the other users are really making this track an hell....every every every every every race is a make or break, if I avoid the hell I can sail to a good position, otherwise I finish 12-13-14....yesterday I went back to C and I'm already almost in D, 100% fault of other user, I'm honest.

At this point I'm just making fun of this bad apples in the post-race app tagging them in chat:
"Oh beautiful"
"great driver"
"stunning"
"beauty"
"smart move"
This evening a guy answered everytime with a "thanks" and "I know"

I have found B to be pretty decent.
Race A is like you're wearing a Cowboys jersey at an Eagles game. :ouch:

I was lucky enough to start on pole in race C. P2 and p3 started squabbling so I was able to build up a nice lead. I go to pit with a 7 second lead over P2 and he pits right behind me. Coming out of the pits I only had a 2 second lead. How did that happen?

I was able to build it back up and win but I don't understand how I lost so much time in the pits.

Did you change tires? I think most are not changing and pitting but keeping the same set. It's ~4-5secs loss for a tire change, which would explain the delta you're referring to.

Just noticed what page we're on...

To keep it on topic, was able to run a 1:27.107 on my third lap with the Porsche at C. With some practice tomorrow, this could be a fun race for me.

Happy racing!

Back on daily racing, and man it feels like you are desperate for a power car, anything under 500HP better be good on tires!

NOTE: EDITED after seeing the replay I post later. It is interesting how things change from the view of other cars over my live, in car, view.

Two C races with mixed results but a net +1% on my DR so that's okay.

Race 1 I QT in 4th having got my time down to a 1:26.196 and first lap I'm hit in turn 1 and spun into the inside wall and then get hit again by a TCR (Tidgney Community Racing?) driver. There was an amazing shuffling of cars going on behind me while that played out. Somehow I drop down to 6th but come out in 4th by turn 2. I guess the TCR driver backed off? 🤷‍♂️ I lost my rhythm a bit from all that and wasn't as quick as I might have been into turn 5 and I get side swiped heading to turn 6 but by a different TCR driver (There were two on this course and they were both a bit gun ho about running into others - @Tidgney should have a word with them...). EDIT: That one was probably more down to me not realizing the was another car in my racing line as I recomposed myself after the initial off. That put me into the crosshairs of the next driver behind. Someone I had unpleasant encounters with last week when they were a SR B driver - apparently they got back to S - and we contact at my rear (another incompatible racing line incident) and I spun into the wall of the second tunnel. I got completely stuck there and needed to do a 3-point turn to get going again. Dead last...

At this point I was 21s behind first and 16s behind 15th. I then drove it like a TT and did not pit until I thought it advantageous to avoid traffic; that was lap 5. I managed to pass some people by overtaking but also in pits. In the end I came in 12th. Not great.

Race 2 was such a different affair. I start on pole! I nailed the first corner (my practicing the rolling start from my anticipated starting spot really paid off) and I start to pull away. Basically, I don't see anyone the entire race; so to me it is just like a QT session. I pit lap 11, as did P2 who was following me around 3s behind the entire race. I missed the trifecta though. Someone stole my fastest lap on lap 5 by 28/1000 of a second. Then someone else beat that :D . In hindsight, after my lap 3 FL, I did not need to push hard so I was driving a strategic game, trying to keep it safe. It worked. I got another victory!

That was it for the night. I did not want to push it and ruin a good thing so I went and watched a movie instead!

I gave up on Race A....sad cause usually they're a fun mix of car-track combo but it's almost an ufc ring, everytime I dare I know what to expect :P

ps. next week Suzuka sounds pretty good, Autopolis C meh, Watkins in A is pure love, a great track

I'm not a fan of B and C this week - had a run of horrendous races on B, going from top 3 or 4 to last after punts or hitting those damn kerbs (how does the car always end up facing the wrong way?!) then getting ridiculous penalties for tapping the wall while trying to turn around 🙄

I'm looking forward to next week though. Love a bit of Autopolis.

I've had a good week in B so far. Finally starting to get decent on the wheel, and I think the key has been setting a decent qually time, putting me top 3 on most grids. I went from D/S to B/S in two sessions. That includes fighting my way past B/C and B/D drivers as a C/S which was treacherous to say the least. The grid position helped massively.

What has also helped is driving very defensively. Letting people in front of me fight it out, letting drivers past sometimes as well.

On one occasion I was 2nd and caught up to the leader (we both had a 2.5 sec gap over the rest of the pack), but he was driving very erratically and I knew he was B/D rating (I was C/S at the time). I knew fighting would allow the pack (stacked with B/C drivers) to catch, and he would probably take me out anyway, so I just sat a safe distance behind and finished a comfortable second.

Kind of sucks to have to drive that way, but thats just Daily B life these days.

There's something that is bugging me: the DR system.
Do you guys think it's fair?

I only drive in Daily B. I've been in DR A for about 3-4 months now (also always in SR S), going back and forth from bar almost depleted to half full. In the last 2 weeks it's bleeding out, meaning that if I continue like this, I'll soon go back to DR B.

Every race the system puts me below 12th position (I can't do better than QT 1:39.6xx on this Dragon Trail layout).
What happens, especially this week, is that I get pushed/rammed all the time and put in 16th place by the same 3-4 bullies who have something against me.
How am I supposed to keep or improve my DR if 90% of the time I'm unfairly pushed to 15-16th and 10% of the time I gain 1-2 positions compared to the start, only because someone messes up in front?

Also, do you guys always get matched with the same people? How can it be? Are we always the same 30-40 players in AS in all Europe? Is the player base really that small?

Same for me, but I think that's what happens naturally.

You climb to the top a DR rating move up and your bottom of the next one, which means your racing a lot of people sliding down and desperate to stay and it shows in their racing.

Just because they can qually so well doesn't alway ls translate in to race pace or race craft I have found.

Edit:

Yes at the A level of pace the pool is seriously small especially across B&C with a lot of the higher ranks slightly preferring C because of the length and strat side of things.

Same here, dropped out of A when I started with the wheel , got back to high B, but then these races this week have dropped me to C/S. On race C I start around 12th but usually finish around there too. And on B I've started higher but not made up ground. Now I'm C rated, I'm starting on pole but getting wiped out in the first couple of braking zones - keep tight and get rammed, go wide and get run off.

It's been compounded this week as it's tracks I don't enjoy. If I was still on the controller I wouldn't even have raced as I was so bad on them.

You know, I just watched the replay from the view of the other drivers and I realized now that I did them a disservice! Their driving was good.

I edited my original post. I commented from my in car live recording view at the time and the hit after the first going off looked to be a TCR driver but in fact we were three abreast at that point and it was the other car. The TCR lad was on the outside. Quite impressive driving on their part to overtake on the outside of turn 1, get hit themself and still manage to keep it together.

The other TCR guy in the 911, made rapid progress through the field and I think actually now, where we come together is more my fault. I move right on my racing line and I think I fail to notice him there, or I am taken by surprise at his rapid advance on me - added by my slightly slower turn 4/5 as I was wider than I would have liked. That one could have been avoided with me being more aware and staying in the center of the track.

So my apologies and good driving to TCR.

So my start there was less than impressive in my driving. I think I am like @GrumpyOldMan. We can only drive and do well if we start on pole and no one bothers us. :D

While I like Suzuka, I have to say, AGAIN? It seems, along with the TTs this has been used a lot recently. There are so many other tracks....

Nenkai has said A is the XJ220, which is good fun.
XJ220 on the Watkins Glen Short Course seems like a wasted opportunity. That car should have a longer circuit to stretch it legs on. Like, would you be able to get to 200mph at Watkins?
