Still? Was it ever?
No. For this and other crossgen Sony games the few available figures show that people either bought on PS5 or didn't buy at all.
The PS4 version of GT7 has rarely shown in the top 20 monthly sellers whereas the PS5 has been a consistent presence in the chart, even ahead of newer multiplatform racers like F1 2023.
There is a vocal minority who held on to their PS4s but that install base is smaller for sure.

This was my impression as well.

There's something that is bugging me: the DR system.
Do you guys think it's fair?

I only drive in Daily B. I've been in DR A for about 3-4 months now (also always in SR S), going back and forth from bar almost depleted to half full. In the last 2 weeks it's bleeding out, meaning that if I continue like this, I'll soon go back to DR B.

Every race the system puts me below 12th position (I can't do better than QT 1:39.6xx on this Dragon Trail layout).
What happens, especially this week, is that I get pushed/rammed all the time and put in 16th place by the same 3-4 bullies who have something against me.
How am I supposed to keep or improve my DR if 90% of the time I'm unfairly pushed to 15-16th and 10% of the time I gain 1-2 positions compared to the start, only because someone messes up in front?

Also, do you guys always get matched with the same people? How can it be? Are we always the same 30-40 players in AS in all Europe? Is the player base really that small?
You just need to improve your qualifying & race pace. I'm in the same position as C when I get matched with B I'm way down the order so I know I gotta improve my times or I'll get destroyed when I move up to B.

Also PD should add DR roulette tickets :)

You know, I just watched the replay from the view of the other drivers and I realized now that I did them a disservice! Their driving was good.

I edited my original post. I commented from my in car live recording view at the time and the hit after the first going off looked to be a TCR driver but in fact we were three abreast at that point and it was the other car. The TCR lad was on the outside. Quite impressive driving on their part to overtake on the outside of turn 1, get hit themself and still manage to keep it together.

The other TCR guy in the 911, made rapid progress through the field and I think actually now, where we come together is more my fault. I move right on my racing line and I think I fail to notice him there, or I am taken by surprise at his rapid advance on me - added by my slightly slower turn 4/5 as I was wider than I would have liked. That one could have been avoided with me being more aware and staying in the center of the track.

So my apologies and good driving to TCR.

So my start there was less than impressive in my driving. I think I am like @GrumpyOldMan. We can only drive and do well if we start on pole and no one bothers us. :D

While I like Suzuka, I have to say, AGAIN? It seems, along with the TTs this has been used a lot recently. There are so many other tracks....

XJ220 on the Watkins Glen Short Course seems like a wasted opportunity. That car should have a longer circuit to stretch it legs on. Like, would you be able to get to 200mph at Watkins?

No need to apologise, it's all good. The only reason I ever ask for replays is so that if anything did happen I can look at it from the most neutral perspective as possible and then talk with any TCR drivers if it was dirty driving. Not that I don't trust what is being said etc. I appreciate the video though! Also don't get me wrong we all make mistakes, I make plenty of mistakes and try to apologise when I know for example and that's what I say as apart of TCR. It's how we react to mistakes so if someone did punt someone, did you wait etc. If you feel it wasn't your fault then you find out afterwards it was just apologise after etc.

I think the 911 one was a bit of them going deep as well but there was still room sort of thing so I wouldn't blame yourself there either to be honest.

But nice to see all is good! Although was a bit bumpy for you though that start! I hope you get some more good races

I stopped playing dailies because of that. I'm high B, 4 pixels from A but dont want to sink again in medium B. I'm waiting for Manu and Nations to compete again.

Well, if the rumoured XJ220 is true next week it'll be a blast.

A couple of my favourite combos from recent times were at the Short Course (Sierra Cosworth and C7 Corvette iirc)

How the heck are people breaking into the 1:38's during Race B when it took me till this afternoon to get my qualy time down to 1:39:5?! 😵

As for the racing, still a bit on the rough side but haven't seen any dirt except in 1 or 2 races (out of about 10 I did so far) 😁

Funny thing is I was starting P14 when I had a high 1:39:7 and now starting in P13 with almost 3 tenths faster time ⚰️🤣 At least I'm averaging P10/ P9 finishes...

Are you short shifting enough to really hammer down the straights? That's where all the time is made a?

Just had, I think, possibly my best ever daily race!!! Epic fun and an almost race long battle. Had my first go in the Ford GT meta after a few races in the Alfa 4C, but didn’t have time for any practice. Have also attempted to stay out of trouble this week by not qualifying and starting near the back.

Mixed grid from A+/S down to B/S and I started 15th (edit: 14th, one car behind me). In at the end of lap 1 having made up 1 place early on, and then proceeded in an 8-9 lap battle with two other drivers. It was super clean & respectful and we managed to also not slow each other down too much.

Lap 9 or 10 I managed to get both of them, first into the top hairpin taking advantage of them both out breaking themselves, and the second going into the tight right before tunnel #1. The other guy followed me through at the same point, so we’d completely reversed our order in the space of half a lap. Unfortunately it looks like he lost the back end between the tunnels and fell to the back.

Last two laps were a straightforward cruise to the line relatively speaking to finish 3rd and a clean race bonus!!

I hear you, I really hear you....cause I'm back in D....why?
Well, first of all I'm not a great driver, and that's it, I evalute myself a "between B & C" driver, I have fun in C and I really struggle to survive in B in 80% of cases right now...maybe in future I'll improve.
But I'm not a D driver, I was, I'm honest, indeed everytime I fall back to D in a couple of races/victories I'm back to C.
So why? the same reason as yours, I qualified to start 8-10 this week and everytime the same bad apples destroy my race with a couple of crashes, as I wrote during the week everynight I find the same 2-3 users that have almost my identical QT but have ugly behaviour and set my playstation-after-dinner-time an hell.
So in the last few days I really raced a little in sport mode and stayed in private lobby with friends...

same for me

It's easy to drop back from C there's only 5999 DR points there where as B&A have 19999 so at B&A if you can get to the middle your survival chances are higher because you have way more points to play with before dropping back. It's the getting to the middle that's the hard part, that's where you really need to improve you quali time and avoid races where your not doing well.

Yep, I tell you I'm just back from a sport mode session, 2 B races, first one I was literally sandwiched between two guys while I was overtaking one of them, obviously it didn't finish well, so lost other points.
Second one I just wanted to stay out of trouble so I managed a 4th place....but I needed to put my foot away from the gas a lot of time to not overtake bad apples ahead of me and get caught in the same situation as the race before.

Your thought about the points range in C is right, you're always on the edge and C is a kind of middle land before the faster drivers.
The fact is that I don't like to manage the game thinking about jumping a week just because I don't like the track, I generally think that sport mode is a great training in GT considering that the AI in offline mode is ugly, the only way to keep a good racing shape is sport mode but....

Curious, where do people like me who bought the PS5 version that included the PS4 download fit into the equation? To me, it didn't make sense to get the PS4 version if I knew I'd be upgrading to a '5 at some point. Not sure if it'd make a difference, or if it even matters, but thought I'd ask.

Yeah, this last month has been miserable. Since the end of July, I've gone from DR A at 5% (which I knew I wouldn't keep) down to DR B at 66%. It well and truly sucks.

Oddly enough, that doesn't happen to me a lot, but I think it's because I spread my races out over the whole day, since I'm retired. When I do do back-to-back races, then I do indeed see a lot of the same people (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on the racers).
I think I am like @GrumpyOldMan. We can only drive and do well if we start on pole and no one bothers us. :D
That's not 100% true for me, but close. I'll say the top 5 or 6. But the no one bothering me is absolutely true, but the downside is that it's boring when that happens. But I could use some boring right about now.

Then stop looking at your DR and try to just have fun. (Yes, I realize the irony of my mentioning this since I wrote an app to track DR.)

I hate when that happens! Seriously, it seems to happen to me way too often.
At least I'm averaging P10/ P9 finishes...
My hat's off to you - no such luck for me. Part of it is I take it personally when people pass me, and although I don't retaliate, I try way too hard to pass them back, and I only end up crashing and burning. Must... let... them... go! Adrenaline has ruined too many of my races.

I think every one of us (myself included) should watch the replay from our races before we comment negatively about other drivers. I'm positive that the vast majority of the time, I did something to initiate the contact, and in a lot of case, the entire incident was my fault for feeling entitled to my racing line, even when the other driver beat me to the corner.

PS: For me, the NSX sucks in the actual race B this week. It's not fast enough.

Ever wonder if following it so closely has led to it feeling like 'it sucks'?

Surely dropping a bit, probably more towards your natural level as you mention there, has given you some more competitive races and chances at race wins / top 5's?

Considering it's a never ending road and reaching A is not a final destination, the fun is in the ups and downs, no?

DR is always going to fluctuate if you race because you love the racing.
If you want a high DR, no matter if it's for bragging rights or to secure a spot in a higher lobby in a championship you have to cherry pick your races, only run the ones you are good at and only at hours that makes it easier

Otherwise it's just a matchmaker.

And now on to something different, daily race C.
I just ran one in America, in the Corvette. Pitted along with a Supra on lap 1, none of us changed tyres.
On lap 6 I am right behind him through the esses, a factory blue AMG is right behind me. Perhaps too near to be really safe though because the Supra spins in the first tunnel, I have to change my line slightly and the AMG hits me hard from behind and spins me into the wall.

I was well aware it wasn't on purpose, but still sucks to have to 3 point turn and have damage in both ends. Anyway the Supra ducked into the pits again to change tyres, I carried on.
The AMG quit 2 laps later.
I finished 10th and had a good clean race with the Supra all the way. @Bobby_Clutch if you are here, thanks for the race.

Was good fun but have no more time now

It's funny you guys should mention this right now, because I decided to take the advice I gave to someone a few posts up, and race to enjoy the race. And I really did enjoy the 4 races since then.

The last one had two of us going side-by-side through the final 4-turn corner (or whatever it is), and even though I got beat, it was respectful and awesome.

And yes, I sucked in 2 of them, but both suckages happened because I hit the sausage on the chicane.

I decided to change my mindset to "This is a game, and games always have challenging levels or bosses. I usually die a bunch of times until I beat the level/boss, but I learn a lot in the process. So what can I learn here?"

And I learned a lot, not that I've "beaten" the level yet, but it's been really fun because my goals shifted.

With that said, I guess now is the time to see how wild a roller-coaster chart I can end up with. The bump from yesterday would make me lose my lunch!

Had a BLAST yesterday afternoon in B. My qualifier sucks so I'm starting 10 - 12 on the grid in 'low-mid' (is that a thing...I'm @ 33%-ish) A lobbies. Ran eight or so races and only two of them had me out of the top ten to finish @ P11 and 13. BUT, most had me finishing between P4 and 8. Some great racing and a lot of fun to be had. That is, of course, until it wasn't. Around 8 PM EDT I noticed a DRAMATIC shift in the, uuuhhhhh, 'quality' of participants. That P13 finish was my last race and a glaring indicator that the soil had turned. 😁

But, and I think someone had mentioned earlier, we rarely celebrate mediocrity and I'm here to change that trend. Bask in my mediocrity...if you like, that is. Not trying to make this a hostile work environment or anything.🤣

Seriously though, it took me a while to realize that all of these YT folks aren't finishing first in every race. I had some completely naive assumption that, if you're broadcasting, you're constantly winning. Sadly, it took a minute for it all to sink in, "It's not about winning, stupid." It's about sharing the experience, having a good time and becoming a better driver. Been enjoying myself a lot more ever since. Your results may vary.

EDIT: Also, a huge THANK YOU to ALL of those YouTube folks!! Didn't want my reference to come off as disparaging as y'all have taught me a TON on the track! Again, thanks for all the time, effort and money that goes in to making it happen. 👍
