That is the means, not the way
I've reached this level of nirvana...Bill Murray was my spirit animalLike what's the difference between 9th and 12th or 1st and second when you are gonna do another 50 races.
I totally understand your frustration, and I'm not defending the other player's actions or their words. The audacity to call me a moving roadblock because they couldn't find a clean overtaking opportunity and, unless they were sandbagging their quali, weren't able to beat my quali, is staggering.
I had a similar experience earlier today in the US servers, I was in the Vette, he was in the GT. Every time I would get a little better exit from the hairpin and he would catch me down the straight, I would then pass him in T1. Then he tried to re-pass me in the esses. I had no where to go so I held the inside line and he turned into me and then ran off.I feel I may have made a mistake waiting until yesterday to get stuck into Race C this week. Once I switched to the meta Ford GT (after my nightmare opening attempt with the Lexus), I've found the race to be an absolute blast!
It calls me back to the early weeks of GT7 when we had our first tuning race (remember the Mitsubishi GTO Vs That glitched VGT Monster?) and the first time Gr3 featured here when the Subaru WRX was dominant.
However, the poor race craft is still rearing its ugly head... I've qualified poorly (deja vu), hanging like I do at the back of the pack, dead-set on exploiting others' inconsistency and crashes to gain places. Yet there was one person behind me who later called me out to be a "moving roadblock". Apparently they had no intention of passing me cleanly (when they eventually did attempt a pass, it was through the esses, banging my rear panels and almost spinning me out as they did so), they ended up in the wall because they parked their car right in my face midway through a braking zone and I had no choice but to rear end them. I very rarely leave an incident without guilt but in this case the blame was firmly on them, so off I popped.

Yes bumping is ok in late b lobbies and definitely A lobbies.I jumped back into sport mode this week after few months of single player racing (one legend car purchase away from getting the platinum trophy 😀)...
Having a blast with Race C, the 12 laps makes consistency in your driving pays off. Early this week I was B S rating, started 16 finished 8th with the Mazda against the mostly Ford gts. Pure fun. I have since switched to the ford...
Question : on long fast straights, is it proper etiquette to push-bump a car ahead to "Team up" and reach a pack of opponents further ahead? I normally avoid any sort of contact, but I have seen supergt YouTuber do that and it seems a good strategy.
Good defending is an artform. Moving under braking is a big no-no. But defensive driving can be fun. I had one of these races not too long ago where I was trying to defend my place from a former GTWS qualifier. I was doing my best to just be in the way. Taking the inside line, parking it on the apex, and really relying on my Mustang's superior acceleration to help me out. He was on my butt for 2.5 laps and was obviously much faster.I feel I may have made a mistake waiting until yesterday to get stuck into Race C this week. The Race version, aka the white one.I went to purchase the Ford GT LM and there are 2 to choose from...one is 1.2 mil and the other is 1.6 mil....they do differ a little. When renting for races, which one are we using?
Loving race C this week.
I know you have me on your ignore list, but that is racing. Being frustrated but restrainedI totally understand your frustration, and I'm not defending the other player's actions or their words.
However, I have to admit that I've felt like someone ahead of me was a moving roadblock. I'd never tell them that, at least not to their faces, but I would be yelling "GET THE **** OUT OF THE WAY!!"
But as you said, it's my fault for not having the skills to pass them.
With that said, there have been plenty of times I've intentionally let someone pass me because 1) I was holding them up, and 2) I was tired of having them glued to my bumper. And after each and every time, my enjoyment of the race improved dramatically. There's something that appeases my inherent male machismo when it's my choice to have someone pass - it's a much better feeling that grinding my teeth at the idiot behind me.
Not that I do it all the time, of course. Most of the time it's like "Not if I can help it!!!"
Never owned a Saab but I alway wanted one before GM ruined the brand and it went bankrupt. Always felt like they were driven by more intellectual drivers that cared about others rather than the yobbos that drive fast BMWs, Audis and Mercedes. How many people here have I just insulted? You always did make one of my other favoritest things...I want a daily grid FULL of these. 😁 View attachment 1284701

C is a blast but you need to be in the Meta. You can be quick in other cars when QTing but not in race. The Ford crushes other cars I the straights where passing is easier but is slower in the esses. The issue for the other cars is that it is very hard to pass cleanly in the esses, unless someone messes up. Take the 911RSR for example, it is quick in the esses but can't use that pace if stuck behind a Ford and then it gets dropped one the straight comes up....I had a similar experience earlier today in the US servers, I was in the Vette, he was in the GT. Not so pleased in post race chat but what was I supposed to do? Just surrender because he is faster in a straight line?
I don't think that's racing
People do it all the time. Note that it might affect your SR - not sure about that. Personally, when someone keeps doing this to me in a situation where we aren't trying to catch a pack, I find it really annoying.Question : on long fast straights, is it proper etiquette to push-bump a car ahead to "Team up" and reach a pack of opponents further ahead? I normally avoid any sort of contact, but I have seen supergt YouTuber do that and it seems a good strategy.
The people in the lobby was sorted into it by SR, then DR. Once in the lobby they're sorted by QTI guess QT is more important that DR, when making lobbies.
Those QT times are insane but why are you getting matched with A+ drivers, seems unfair. I'd be rage quitting. This happens all the time to me, even with my current semi-pathetic DR B at 64%.

All that rage quitting does is lower your DR by max amount and damages your SR. If you race against higher rated DR drivers (yes it sucks but if you do okay - say come in 10-12th) you can still potentially pick up points as points are adjusted by the DR difference between players. There are many posts on this.I'd be rage quitting.
Yeah I know you lose DR if you quit but I don't want to be matched with players DR 2 levels up that's where it stops being fun for me, at least give me an option to opt out of the matchmakingAll that rage quitting does is lower your DR by max amount and damages your SR. Are you assuming you aren't going to beat 'em??? Bad call, get in there!!! 😁Yeah I know you lose DR if you quit but I don't want to be matched with players DR 2 levels up that's where it stops being fun for me, at least give me an option to opt out of the matchmaking
It's not just the D lobby. And I'm probably repeating myself, but it's because there's nowhere you can pass cleanly on this track, so you have to drive aggressively if you want to pick up positions. As for feeling like you've been pitted, make sure you're watching your replays. I'll bet that some of the time, you're turning into them, not the other way around. Ask me how I know.the fact is, people after almost a week of this track understood that it's a king of UFC ring and are exchanging blows as never before.
I'm talking about the D lobby, yes I'm in the cellar![]()
Being positioned that low isn't the end of the world, although I admit I much prefer to be near the top of an all DR B lobby. And as other people have said, you can gain DR even in those kinds of lobbies. I've started 13, ended 10, and gained DR. Or course, not very often, but it's possible. Those QT times are insane but why are you getting matched with A+ drivers, seems unfair. I'd be rage quitting.
I know you know this, but I just wanr to clarify for anyone else reading this. DNFing lowers your DR by a different amount depending on your DR and the DRs of other people in the race. I've lost anywhere from 1 point to 11 points. But your point is correct - rage quitting always hurt your DR.All that rage quitting does is lower your DR by max amount and damages your SR.
I'm repeating myself, but yes, this is true. Just two races ago I started 11, finish 9, and gained DR. Again, I'd prefer to start pole position in an all-DR B lobby. If you race against higher rated DR drivers (yes it sucks but if you do okay - say come in 10-12th) you can still potentially pick up points as points are adjusted by the DR difference between players. If it's like in GT Sport (and everything points to it) it's -5 SR points for a quit.As for affecting SR, that may be true, but I haven't seen it change my SR to lower letter, at least not recently. Knock on wood.
You are now my BEST FRIEND 😀 I LOVE SAABS!! In fact, I own one - 2006 93 V6 Aero 😂Waiting for my damn steel head gaskets from Germany to finally close the engine after a semi-race rebuild! Upgraded all the internals, manifolds, exhaust, ECU, suspension, brakes, clutch, and air intake of my B284L and looking at around 480 at the wheels 😀 Turbo is still standard as wallet is now empty and would need even bigger injectors and fuel pump. But it's ready for that final step one day!You always did make one of my other favoritest things...I want a daily grid FULL of these. 😁 View attachment 1284701
