Ok, thank you are clarifying that, well then I don't know how much I'll get done this week, I might just focus on the B races, maybe do a few Group 2(Sprint) races and that's about it. I'm not even gonna touch the GTWS because I know most drivers will beat me in the race. Well I'm another guy that's gonna sit out for the 24th races, I only did one lap of 8'48.140 there and that's gonna be it. It's just too long of a track and there are so many turns and corners that you have to remember in order to set a really good time, and I'm just not fit for that.

This race had some intimidating names in and I was just pleased not to be humiliated.:P Antonio P1 in the world at the time and Kyky P6.. :ill:

I'm viewing it as practice to try and gain some much needed consistency before Round 4 on Saturday, should be a good one with everyone warmed up.

I kept making silly errors in the lower lobby then somehow did a mistake-free drive in this higher split. :confused:
It's very slippy out there with only 7 degrees track temp and hard tyres.

Hi everybody, I reckon this week will be only race C for me. Still on a learning phase with the 911 with no TC. It's also a good "stress test" for focus that I recommend. Spa was really too long, but 25 min race is acceptable. I thus completed only one lap with incidents, spins and other for a QT of 8:44, just to see. Surprisingly was enough for 9th in a quite spreaded grid (pole was at 8:25 and it's not a science-fiction time). Nordschleife isn't Sardegna. I know the track since GT4 (in '97 actually was already in GPLegends) so no fuss on that. Even if bumped out at the first lap is possible to recover, since the many mistakes I've seen (ok a big one was mine, but I managed just three laps today). An advise, if you feel way faster than the guy in front, just keep putting pressure. Most likely he'll make an error leaving you free to pass. A and B seem too much kinda mono-marque races to me, while C looks more varied for now.

@Chrome_PuPXD THANK YOU!! I hadn't even thought to look at the temps. I thought it'd be clever to come in here talkin' about "...did update 1.52 include tire chillers they forgot to turn off..." Guess that answers that. Going from RM's at (presumably) toasty Sardegna to the ice-box on RH's is a bit shocking. Makes for some killer lookin' drifty exits tho. Gonna take a minute to acclimate, too. Lost traction at Sardegna wasn't a big deal with so much room to wiggle around. Here, well, you die.🤣

Not sure how they do it IRL...flying through Schwedenkreuz full tilt without a <RESET> button takes stones much larger than I could ever carry. Much respect.👍

Well, I can say I am absolutely not going to do any races this week. Beyond the one I just did.

Race C I was unable to manage to even complete a qualifying without crashing out spectacular form. So I’m just not good with Nurburgring and I hate the GP circuit even more. I like Nurburgring in a non-competitive format; just not this one.

Race B, the Bugatti is just horrid. I’m like 10 seconds off the pace. I tried another car and that was even slower. I did get to the low 1:30s but even so I hate the car in VR.

Race A, I just did one. I came in last, 46 seconds behind the leader. It was like I was driving in molasses compared to the others even though my time is a 1:20.9.

That said, my entire evening was off. Even my time trials were abysmal tonight. I’m about ready to throw the PlayStation out the window. I need to be doing something else but GT. It’s driving me mad.

Ok rant over. I need a meme race. 😀

It's been over a week since I've booted up GT7. Considering I feel the Nurb GP track is the worst real life track in the game, I surprised myself by even loading the game up. And we have two versions of it included this week. No thanks. Fair play to anyone who enjoys it.

So I tried Race B. Once and done. I knew after two practice laps it would be. A combo that proves the daily races are not tested before being thrown up. If they are, that makes it worst. Awful. I can appreciate and respect anyone who has the time and inclination to have succes in this one make VGT debacle, but I cant be arsed. Horrible.

I haven't done a round of the current GTWS because that seemed lacklustre when announced, so I will check out what next week brings...

Jumped on a spur-of-the-moment 1.20am Race A lobby last night after the missus popped off to bed, quick quali session of 3 minutes. I didn't expect much, and the hour plus the current state of my SR (somewhere near to 50) meant I found myself sitting in 8th, confronted with mostly B/S drivers.

It turned out to be a nice little ego boost as I 'expertly' overtook a few cars (some questionable lines being used by the red-eye crowd). By the end I was battling nicely with the fastest of them, 1st and 2nd place were unfortunately too far away for us to capitalise on their own fighting.

We had a 4-lap to-and-fro, switching places and staying clean. It was really great practice for future races and a chance to experiment with different lines and individual corner techniques when trying to best your opponent.

A very nice surprise for a lobby of that time of the night.

What I have learnt is that my 'natural ability', that is to say how fast I can be without much practice or warm-up, is probably high-B pace. Any improvement I experience over the course of any week is down to practice and a little bit of luck.

... when Flugplatz was really owning its name (Clark at the wheel). Now with aero we don't see this anymore. Btw, either flat out or with lil lift before Schwedenkreuz doesn't make a huge difference in lap time nowadays (imho).

I think like a few people I too was hoping for GR4 at WG (probably one of my fav combos). I usually avoid GR1 but decided to give it a go yesterday in the Hyundai N 2025 and was plesently surprised by my pace resulting in a few podiums, a win and a much needed boost to my DR. Today however in higher lobbies, even though I had some good races and finishes I knew i'd have to switch to the Bugatti. Fortunately I improved my quali time and again had some good races, but for the life of me I cannot fathom how people are taking the bus stop flat out! Even after watching @Tidgney video for which I am always grateful for I have to brake and drop down a gear or two. I think I need to find a slower ghost to follow to get it right
 
Did Race B a couple times last night. Used the 2011 R18 first, about half the lobby kept crashing at the bus stop so I ended up 8th out of 14. Race 2 was with the LM55. Had a nice battle with a couple 919s that couldn't get enough momentum to pass on the straights since they lose a lot of speed fast. In the corners though they could easily outpace the LM55's understeer. Had a better finish this time getting 5th out of 16.

I found that I can do it flat out about 1 in 3 times. It is a high risk endeavor though. It is llke a pixel or two between success and flying off into oblivion.

I found a slight lift on entry, and then keeping a flat 70ish% throttle to be a much more reliable move.

Still, having figured this out, my 1:30 time is still not impressive so perhaps I am just slow and if you are faster than me, my approach may not work...

That is my approach. It's all about the turn in and that is massively hard to judge at these speeds. I find 95% of the time I turn in to early hit the curb at the wrong angle and test the catch fence, or I turn in to late cut the inner curb and at best get a pen at worst slide sideways hard in to the wall below the catch fence....

I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like in VR hitting the wall on turn in at 150mph.....

Then there is the fact if you get the turn in right flat or near as damn it you have to be lighting quick to turn left...but not too much or too little

Very very challenging and very very hard to do laps back to back building to something.

Really not that bad. Most of the time it’s just sliding off to the side. If you do spin a lot then just shut your eyes.

VR is interesting as it is easier to get precise placement as you have the car structure for reference and it is more natural than bumper, but VR draw distance is lower resolution so distance appears softer and blurrier and image details pop up as you get closer so judging, while easier is also harder.

Talking about pop up. I found that if a ghost you are chasing is too far ahead, in VR, it will not render the brake lights, so you often don’t know when the ghost brakes, unless you’re real close to it.

EDIT:
A big reason I don't like the Bugatti in VR is that in cockpit, the dash is awful; like who designed this for a Gr.1 car? It is low down and there are no shift lights and the rev gauge is not clear on when to shift so I am constantly trying to gauge by audio and looking down at the steering wheel to determine where I am in the revs. Consequently I am often hitting and bouncing off the rev limiter because of missed gear shifts - not helped by the fact the car goes through its rev band so fast...

That is super interesting, because if I do a multi restart session 2 things happen, I get a weird vanishing ghost that typically disappears for a second in the first braking zone or in the M3 TT following tidg the first few laps I get brake lights but now I don't (still in the same session) but the spoiler light still comes on.

Also as a side note since VR came to the game there is now a green dot matrix on the back of cars it's more prominent on some cars than others but was almost day glow in the Toyota cup with the Yaris GR
 
Now going to take a self enforced break once again from Sport to recharge the batteries. Think I'll try again when the Pro comes through. Had to have a race this evening though as was stuck on 599 top 5s and that always drives me nuts until it goes one up.
 
I've been having fun flirting with danger at the chicane in Race B. So far I've only done the no-brake technique once in FP (and got my fastest lap with it currently at a 1:27.0, with a high 1:26 possible). The key is to lift AND get back on the power BEFORE you do your initial turn in to the chicane. If you try to lift at the same time you turn in, you'll get the most ridiculous lift-off oversteer ever and end up backwards in the wall. In the race I'm constantly tap-dancing on the brake and throttle there, and can't hit the chicane the same way twice. I feel like a Group C only race would've been a perfect combo for this, but tempting fate in the Bugatti is still quite a thrill (that's killed me a few times in race...:scared:).
 
Imagine giving us Nurb with changeable weather and RM then a few weeks later the same thing, no stops, no weather and the worst tyre in sim racing history.

No daily race should be on RH unless it’s a multiple tyre strat race.

One quick note before you go...

Pretty sure quitting races is amplifying your misery ten-fold. Not because of some existential 💩 about attitude and whatnot, it's the points. Quitting kinda murders your DR/SR. Even finishing the race DFL nets lower overall loss so mitigates some of the drain pain. Less points lost = a further climb up the bar when you do well. Similarly, when you fail miserably you have a bit more cushion to the bottom.👍

Eventually this all balances out and you end-up at a rank that reflects your abilities. In the meantime, you get damn good at defensive driving and discovering lines you didn't know existed, lol. Quitting screws that balance up leaving you in the oubliette of despair that is Dr C.

I'm not telling you how to play the game, only how to game the game as it was designed to be gamed to better enjoy the game, gamer.😁

Pff I dislocated my shoulder Monday. I can move my arm a bit, close to my body, but definitely not at the speed needed for gr 3 to gr 1 cars. Will have to skip at least this week. Hopefully some gr 4 action next week.
 
So I’ve decided I’m going to race A for the weekend, I don’t see B being any fun however WG without the bus stop could be?

So I’m starting today with some TT and watching Tidge’s guide and making some notes.

I’m WFH for the rest of the week whilst I prepare for hospital procedure Thursday PM, so should have a lot of time to catch up on lost time!

Edit. Not quite feeling the Gr2 race but we see, did manage a 1.29.050 on the B though, that’s a real seat of the pants job through the bus stop 🤣

Race C feels like a nice relaxing drive in the countryside compared to A and B 🥵

Generally starting near the front in A or B, but jeezo it's hard work - might have to turn the FFB down a bit 🤣 Not managed a win yet due to tiny errors.

😁 I just can’t get on with racing B. It’s almost like you must nail that bus stop every lap, which so far as I see, no one is doing.

I started 3rd earlier, 4th lap completely crashed out and finished 10th 🤨

Pole finished behind me 🤣

I'm ok with that bit - it's the rest of the lap I struggle with 🤣 If I'm out front I keep braking too hard and losing the rear.

Wish C wasn't RH tyres, or the track was warmer - just can't get any heat in the front of the Ferrari. I may try a different car and see how I get on.

Having some good races on A - very very frantic action but quite fun.
